I verified the wrong email address when I set up my iMessage on my iPod touch and now it won't let me change it. I can't even click on it. It's similar to how the number looks if you have an iPhone and you go to settings, iMessage, and send a receive. It's like the number has a check by it but you can't click on it. That's how the email looks on my iPod. But I need it to be changed.

When there is only one email address entered on iPods and iPads the address is grayed out. Go to Settings/Messages/Send & Receieve and tap the Add Another Email..., add the correct email address and you should then be able to delete the incorrect address.

You can't change an iCloud email address. To create a new address you would have to create a new iCloud account.
You can, however, create an email alias to use in your current iCloud account which will receive email in your current iCloud inbox. See http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a490a.

I have just noticed that the email under system preferences for iCloud is an old one that does not exist anymore. How do I change this? Can you also tell me if I delete this account - will it affect what I have stored on the computer e.g. what is in my photos etc? You can change the (non-Apple) email address which forms your Apple ID to another one at http://appleid.apple.com. If you are going to do this you should follow this procedure to avoid problems:
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in (give it time).
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.

If that is your situation, then you need to do the following:
1. Go back to Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the old email address (this is temporary)
2. You do not need to verify that old address since it is only temporary
3. On your iPhone, go to Settings>iCloud and scroll to the bottom and click on Delete Account to delete the old iCloud account. It will ask for your password - type in your current Apple ID password
4. Go back to Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the new email address
5. Go back to the Phone to Settings>iCloud and sign on to iCloud with your new Apple ID

That's Activation Lock. You will need to remember the Apple ID and password you used to set up the phone.
If you can't remember them, you can go to iforgot.apple.com to try to recover the information.
If you are the original owner of the phone & have proof of purchase, you can try calling Apple to see if they can assist also.

I recently updated my primary email address associated with my Apple ID account.
Now when I go to App store on my iPad it still tries to login to the App store using the old email address I had associated with the account, and naturally my password doesn't work. I can't figure out how to tell my iPad to login using the updated email address.
So in effect I'm locked out of the app store and I currently have 26 updates waiting.
I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting my IPad to iCloud with no luck.. However I cloud happens to show the correct/updated email address.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Did you change the email for the Apple ID or did you create a new Apple ID? A new Apple ID cannot be used with content that was bought using a different Apple ID.

OK that's what Ithought you were talking about.
You can't actually delete an old Apple ID. You just sign into the new ID to use that one. Your old ID must be popping up because you used it in the past to purchase content with it. You cannot transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another Apple ID. You have to continue to use the old ID if you want to update content that was used to purchase with that ID.
Did you sign into your new account in the settings and you can't stay signed in?

You cannot change your iCloud email address. It is an @me.com address, and is associated specifically with that iCloud account. If you want a different @me address assigned, you have to delete the current iCloud account and set up a new one.

Each iCloud account can only have a single iCloud email account. As such, you can't have a different email account on your iPod if it is using the same iCloud account.
You can create additional alias email addresses within this iCloud account, but they will all receive email in the same inbox as the primary icloud email address.

I had to change my e-mail address today. I changed it in iTunes and checked it on apple.com (Manage ID). Everything is fine, except now the e-mail address I have associated with iCloud on my iPhone is out-dated. It's the old one.
How do I update the e-mail address for iCloud on my iPhone? I can change the password, but not the e-mail address. Do I really have to delete the account from my iPhone and add a new one?

Go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated ID. This only deletes the account and any data you are syncing with iCloud from your device, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your data will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.
Save any photo stream photos to your camera roll before deleting the account (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll).

You need to do the following:
1.     Sign into Manage your Apple ID with your current ID and password, and EDIT the ID back to the old email address. This is temporary. Do NOT verify it, do NOT change the password: Apple - My Apple ID
2.     Go to Settings>iCloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Delete Account.Type in your current password when asked, then follow the prompts to delete the iCloud account from your device
3.     Go back to Manage your Apple ID and sign in with the old ID and the current password. EDIT the Apple ID back to the new email address. You may have to verify it again.
4.     Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with the new ID
