I have 2phones on my apple id account. since setting up ios6 yesterday and icloud i have discovered that if i send or receive messages to other iphones those messages appear on both phones. how can i alter this

This is the intent of having multiple devices connected to the same icloud account - they are all kept in sync. If you don't want certain features kept in sync, then turn off the services on one device (Settings>icloud), but there is no option of that for messages.

This happens when you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage. You can continue to share the same ID for pruchasing from the iTunes & App stores, but you should be using a different ID for iMessage. To fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID (so you are both using a different ID for iMessage); or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at". Also uncheck anyone else's phone number, if present.

They would have to have your name in their contacts and then assign your email address to your contact. It's similar to receiving a regular text message from a phone number you do not have saved in your contacts; their phone number will show up instead of their name, but once you add them to your contacts their name will show up.

Ever since I updated my iphone software I am unable to send or receive pics by text with people I know do not have iphones. I still can with people who have iphones. Does anyone else have this issue? I have a iphone 4.

When I try to send a message it says "sending". I can send text messages. Help! I also know of two other people who have this problem today. iPhone 5 users are we.

You may also want to reset your network settings:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: this will delete any network related settings (saved Wi-Fi passwords, etc), it will not erase any content from your device.

Yes, you can have two separate Apple IDs, and it's pretty easy to set this up. Go into Settings > iTunes & App Store on your business phone. You should see your current Apple ID. Tap on it, then tap on sign out. You can then create a new Apple ID, using a different email address and password than those associated with the Apple ID on your other phone. Log back in using this new information, and you shouldn't get the texts that come to your other phone.

On some server somwhere my AppleID still tells people they should send me iMessages. What is the solution to this issue? If you did not erase your apps and data before getting rid of your old phone, try using Find My Phone and erasing everything remotely. See if this works.

These have been screen shot to me later including time and I have just not got them. I had 4 weeks worth of messages go missing from my phone..I know that he synced my phone because his work laptops I'd came up in my settings. Also if the above can be done can he change the settings on my actual phone and access my location without placing tracking software on my phone. Can someone please help here as I can't restore a backup to my phone for obvious reasons and refuse to change my number because of this loser.

Connect the device to the computer.
In iTunes, select the content desired to sync.
Sync.

I think you answered your own question. As your friends phones are not iPhones, but maybe Nokia or Android the smiley will appear as a different character or box. Thew only way to fix this would be to send a basic smile using the basic keyboard so that your friends will receive it as a smile and you will when they reply. Or ask your friends to check if the phones they are using have the emoji type keyboard available and ask them to update their phones. This will show the smiley when they reply to you.

What do you mean 'delete the other person' ? If you mean that somebody else is using your account your account's password e.g. by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone and tapping on 'view apple id' on the popup and logging into it, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com

Not sure about yahoo, but for gmail, I done the following:
Set up using Exchange on iPhone, it'll keep prompting for password. On PC use captcha option, log in to gmail account from PC after completingg captcha option, enter password on iPhone.
See how that goes for gmail, let us know.
Hopefully someone will have fix for yahoo.

I synced my iPhone (4s) with iTunes but the messages are still there. How can I get rid of these texts for good and have more space on my phone? 6.33 gb of other space is way too much, thats almost half of my overall available space (13.5 gb.) I don't want to reset my phone and lose all my other texts/ app progress/ photos. I do have backups, but when I restore from the backup the other space comes back along with everything else. What can I do to get rid of this other space and the 'deleted' text messages? (I'm running iOS 6.1.3 if that helps)

But once again, I do not want to lose my other texts, app progress, and photos. I could sync the photos but i would still lose the app progress and texts. I would only restore if it was the only option left, but the other space, as already stated, isnt the main concern. The main concern is those 'deleted' texts. If they go, then a good size chunk of the other space goes. I know you CAN delete texts for good. It worked fine before. All i want to know is why its not working for me now, and how to fix it.
I also know that when you delete texts on your iphone, they get marked for deletion, however they stay on your device (thats why they show up when you search for them.) then when you sync your device with itunes, the texts marked for deletion should disappear. When i synced they didnt disappear. Thats what i need an explanation/solution for. Why the texts marked for deletion didnt get fully deleted after the sync.
