you are right about the IOS number. I couldn't access my iPad so I guessed and guessed wrong about the number. It was the latest upgrade offered by Apple for my iPad, which I dowloaded and installed. I have done some sleuthing and discovered that some of the problems are the result of the Accessibility - Voiceover being activated. Once I figured that out, I was able to navigate somewhat better, though I now cannot turn Voiceover off. I slide the button and it just revert to On. The other problem I have now discovered that the iPad only rarely will accept my password. This is a password that I know and love and use many times during the day (as all of us iPhone and iPad users do) Now it seems to reject my password 80+% of the time. I would disable password protection if I could. I think I am going to have to talk to Apple directly but wonder if anyone else has had this kind of trouble with the newest IOS. It worked fine on my iPhone.
I will try triple tapping the home button if I can ever get it opened again. -

I download the new update for my iPod on my pc but now it's stuck on the recovery mode! No jailbreak. I don't want to restore it because I'll loose all of my photos... HELP
Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Then try restoring on another computer.

I have an old iphone 2g/3g. However I dont use it as a phone but as an ipod. Since its the oldest version, I tried updating it to the newest version that all the iphones seem to have. My mac froze and wouldnt startup because it was forced to sleep while a complex program was running, and simply ended up on a blank grey screen, and this happened upon every startup. so then i tried to use a safe boot but this ended me up on the startup utilities thing. i have realised that none of the options: restore from time machine backup, reinstall osx mountain lion, and repair disk are available to help me startup, and i cant select a startup disk either as it says none are available. so i am stuck on this program and it reapears every time i restart or shutdown and reboot, so i cant do anything. Please is there any way i could either quit startup utilities or get back to my computer desktop as i have lots of non-backed up image and video files that i cant afford to lose. please help!

I Sarted doing the update through WIFI and it asked me to connect to Itunes which I have done. Then it said I needed to restore the I pad which I clicked to do, it went through all the motions then cam up with an error message on the laptop. Now all I can get is the apple on the screen like when you switch it on or off. I have tried holding the power and home buttons to restart the Ipad but it goes black then comes back to the apple? Any help would be welcomed.....

Help. Updated to ios7 and itunes 11.1 but now I'm stuck on the 'connect to itunes' screen
I backed up my phone on itunes before I began this process. I downloaded itunes 11.1 While downloading ios7 I had an error message which was likely due to the limited memory space available on my laptop..(I cleaned some stuff up and it downloaded) When I plugged my phone back in it said it was in recovery mode. I restored my phone and saw that all my apps and music loaded. Then it synced. I tried to swipe the "hello" screen but was taken to the choices:
1. Set up as new iphone 2. restore from icloud backup 3. restore from itunes back up. I have never done an icloud backup and I DID do an itunes backup today so I selected option 3. This is where I'm stuck. It says "connected to itunes' and won't let me do anything else.
(I have restarted my computer, restarted the phone, did the recovery/hold the button down thing, restored it to another point from today etc...)

There are two more things to try. If the first thing you try fails, try the next.
Two Button Reset.
This is the least likely to result in loss of data. Read that again, especially the phrase "least likley."
Unplug the phone form the computer.
Press and hold both the home and the sleep/wake buttons (ignore the red slider) until you see the silver Apple logo.
When you see the logo, let both buttons go.
If this worked, you should see an icon instructing you to connect to iTunes. My guess is that the reset did not work.
DFU Restore
This will very likley result in loss of data.
Plug the iPhone into the computer.
Ensure that it is running the lates version of iTunes and that it has access to the internet.
Press and hold both the home and sleep/wake buttons for exactly eight seconds.
Release only the sleep/wake button but continue to hold the home button for another five seconds.
Let go of the home button, then look at the computer screen for an instructional popup.
The popup should say "iTunes has detected a device in covery mode. . .(etc)" Click accept to all boxes and let iTunes download and install all of the latest device Firmware and Software.
If no popup appears, repeat the above DFU instructions. If you 've never done a DFU, it may take about three attempts to get the timing right. -
I have ios7.1.2 on my iphone and am trying to upgrade to 8.0.2. I haven't installed 8 yet and when I try and upgrade nothing happens. It says ios8.0.2 improvements from 8.0.1 are available but not the whole ios. What to do?
It sounds like maybe 8.0.1 has downloaded onto your phone but not installed. You can check for it in Settings > General > Usage > Storage, Manage Storage. If it's there you should see it at the top of the list of apps. Swipe to delete it. 8.0.1 was pulled by Apple quickly after it was introduced due to issues and replaced by 8.0.2. Once it's deleted you should be able to download and install 8.0.2.

On the computer you should be able to go to the network properites. Go to the TCP part and unchec the line that says obtaind DNS automatically and check the one that says use the following. Add the 8.8.8.8 and Google other 8.8.4.4.

Just downloaded IOS 6 and it disabled my favorite game, Bubblets Tllt. Restarted and no luck. Tried to download new app and it is gone. Tried to download from website off Safari and message it is no longer sold in the US. Please help. Apple owes me for the cost of this app. Plus Google Maps is infinitely better and that the download kicking it off makes me want to buy an android. And I am not alone is resenting this meddling in my right to keep what I originally purchased. What are they thinking?

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.
