HT204053 iCloud wont sync devices

How can iCloud sync my devices (for photos, etc) if both my iPad and iPhone were required to have different Apple ID's on initial setup? My iCloud account names cannot be changed on my devices. I'm confused on how to get my content synced via the cloud.

Navigate to Settings > General > Restrictions (enter your passcode if required-this may not be the same as your screen lock code), scroll down to the section 'Allow Changes' and ensure you are allowed to make changes to 'Accounts'.

Your signature says you have 10.6.8 - is this correct? iCloud requires Lion 10.7.2 - syncing will not take place on Snow Leopard.
If you do have Snow Leopard:
You will be able to access email and calendars on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion.
There appears to be no method of syncing contacts (though Address Book on a Mac can be synced with Google or Yahoo address books - I don't know how reliable this is).

Icloud wont sync contacts from iphone

Hi there,
I recently updated to yosemite on my iMac and am having issues with my contacts....most of my contacts are showing up on my mac but the one I recently added to my iphone (within the past month) will not sync for some reason.
Ii am also having a problem syncing my icloud on my Notability app - it will not connect to icloud and keeps telling me to check my mac settings.
Any ideas?

This user tip might help you understand how accounts work with Address Book.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

We have 1 iTunes account 3 iPhones and 2 iPads. I would like to use iCloud for my iPhone and iPad, but I don't want the other devices to use share things such as my calendar, contacts, etc. how do I do this?

HT204053 iCloud document sync being strange

I'm having an issue with icloud documents. I have 10.8.2 mac software, the iphone 5, and an ipad 2 (both of which are on the latest ios). They're all synced to the same @me.com account, so the documents should be showing up correctly in Pages. What's weird is that all three are showing different sets of documents!
I've attempted to simply copy the ones I want and delete the rest, turning all of the syncs off so that I can manage it through the website iCloud/iWorks so I can get them all back to working order. In iWorks, I've deleted everything. When I go back into iWorks... they're still there, undeleted! What's even stranger, if I hit refresh, it'll go between two different sets of documents (one that was on my ipad, one that was on my iphone).
How do I reset documents so that I can simply start over? This is rediculous!

It actually goes pretty fast once you are on a WiFi connection. I found an open WiFi connection at Starbucks and when i got back to my desk the files were all there on the web site. I fond the Use Cellular connection to sync in settings and decided that I didn't need to sync my docs all the time so I will just wait to connect when I can get to a WiFi.
Now I just need to figure out how to sync my contacts. iCloud doesn't seem to play nice with Google contacts when they are on an Exchange connection.

ITunes wont sync devices,says I need newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support what does that mean?

I have the newest version of iTunes and when I sync it with my iPhone 4s with iOS7 or my 4th generation iPod touch is comes up with a pop up that says I need to uninstall the Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes and get newer versions of both. I suppose I should have prefaced my question with the concern that I've read a number of other posts from people who have had a similar issue and when they tried to follow the directions, they ran into a multitude of other problems. Icloud wont sync web pages from phone...

basically the new feature of picking up web pages from your phone (mine is a 4s up to date) to you macpro (brand new 13 with mountain lion) isnt working..... Im not really mad worrining about it, it would just be a nice feautre to have. When i do click the icould symbol on top of my web page all it says is that icould automatically shows open tabs on you devices.... I have six on my phone that are not showing up. Anyone else having this problem?

also, i hate internet explorer but icloud always opens in it... how do i switch it to open in chrome?

When I try to sync my computer it just says "Registering Computer" and gives up... it was working fine, syncing my Safari bookmarks, dock items, dashboard, etc.. Anyone else having this problem?

Since you have posted in the iCloud forum I assume you have migrated your MobileMe to iCloud? What you have posted is the MobileMe sync pane and this is no longer relevant. Syncing of calendars, contacts, and Safari bookmarks is now carried out in iCloud and should be turned on in the checkbox list at System Preferences>iCloud when you have signed in there with your @me.com address. iCloud does not sync dock items, dashboard, keychains etc.

I recently brought i new macbook pro, to go along side with my older Macbook pro (2009). However when i log into icloud through system settings on my new mac, it wont let me check the mail box
This is the error message
Mail cant be enabled at this time
Wait a moment and then try turning on Mail again.
Is this becasue i am running mountian lion on the new macbook pro and just lion on the old macbook pro, or is it more complicated

Thanks for your answer. Im not totally sure how Icloud works though, with personal emailaddress and the @me address, but when I add Icloud to my mac, do I have to use the @me address, or do I use my regular apple ID which is my @gmail address?
When you say `assoiciated with`, do you mean the @gmail address which is my apple ID?

Please can someone help me i have backed up all my phone on iCloud on my 4s,
I have just got my new iPhone 6 and i am trying to back up restore back up on my new phone and it keeps saying
Your iPhone cannot be restore because there is problem with your back up data!

Try deleting the presumably corrupted backup from the iCloud → Storage → Manage storage section in Settings, and then create a new backup in its place. If that doesn't resolve the problem, then you'll have to contact Apple Support.

Icloud wont sync because it says I have multiple versions of Outlook.

My icloud has a message that says
Mulitple Outlook versions installed.
You can't use icloud when mulitple versions of Outlook are installed.To use Outlook with Icloud unintall one version.
I only have one version installed.

Don't spend a lot of time trying to change it. It's an iCloud problem that's happened before, and when it happened in August it went back to the correct colors in a few days. Just be careful when you add new items to the calendar to use the right calendar (even if the color is wrong), otherwise you'll have things out of synch when the correct colors come back.

I am unable to sync all contact in my address book on my imac with my ipad mini, it looks like only icloud & yahoo contact sync leaving out the ones in outlook for mac. I have enabled icloud on both devices and ticked all the boxes.

No, they are in the On My Mac account in the Mac Contacts app, not iCloud.
or are they in a different format despite being in mac contacts? If so can the outlook contacts be exported in some other way to icloud?
Outlook is not compatible with iCloud, check Microsofts site if you need more verification.
If you want them in iCloud use Mac Contacts and move them from On My Mac to iCloud. This will remove them from Outlook.

This step is not clear:

The link takes me to an Apple page but which has nothing to do with ports. And there is nothing to explain what it is I am looking for, how to look for it, and how to change it if needed.
Also, this step:

iCloud automatically set up a "[email protected]...." account for me so I see that one plus my original email used to open my Apple account. And the apple products show my settings under both identities.
Make sure the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook
This add-in is disabled because it doesn't allow Outlook to function properly.
