You need a unique AppleID for each iCloud account.  So grab some free gmail, hotmail, aol, yahoo or whatever email addresses to make five new AppleIDs.  Now, everybody make an iCloud account for themselves, and keep the existing shared AppleID and password just for use in the iTunes and App Stores.  You can also each use your own unique AppleIDs to make iMessage accounts and keep those separate as well.

  • How to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with one iTunes account

We recently received iPad 2's for Christmas and was looking for some advice on how to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with One iTunes Account (Apple Id).  I have created or attached other e-mail addresses to our apple id but do not know how to use them on the new devices.  Our home MacBook Pro uses our main apple id for FaceTime.  The iPads have been setup with the main apple id w/o being able to use FaceTime and iMessage.
    Please Help...
I appreciate the help and support.

    P and V-
If you are trying to connect to someone with a different Apple ID, I think all the devices should work, but one at a time.
The problem is when you try to connect between two with the same Apple ID.  Once the calling device tries to make the connection, it finds the second device to be "busy".  That is where each needs to use a different E-Mail address when setting it up.
On iOS devices, when you press the Home button to exit an App, the App may still be active in the background, even when the device is sleeping.  If FaceTime or iMessage is merely being active that way, it may be enough to "tie up" the E-Mail address.
From the Home screen, double click your Home button.  You will see a list of recent Apps along the bottom of the screen.  Press and hold on one of them until they start to wiggle.  You will then see a red minus sign on each.  Pressing the minus sign will remove an App from the list, and stop it from working in the background.  (Click the Home button to stop the wiggling, and again to hide the recent Apps.)

  • HT204053 The entire family has used one itunes account for years. How do we all set up separate iCloud accounts now?

The entire family has used one itunes account for years. How do we all set up separate iCloud accounts now? Or should we? 5 macbooks, 2 ipads, 4 iphones, 2 itouch, 2 imacs.   How does one decide what to sync, share and what not to? Green Jeans.

You need to start by understanding the distinction between iTunes and iCloud - Apple confuse the issue by referring to 'iTunes Match' as part of iCloud. It isn't.
You don't have to have the same login (Apple ID) for iTunes and iCloud; many people don't and there's no problem about it.
Your iCloud ID gets you email, calendars, contacts, iWork documents and PhotoStream syncing between devices.
Your iTunes ID gets you the iTunes Store, the App Store for iOS, the Mac App Store for OSX,, 'iTunes in the Cloud' (downloading of purchased items to any logged-in device) and 'iTunes Match' (uploading of songs not purchased in the iTunes Store).
Your family members can easily each get their own iCloud account to keep email etc. separate - in each case they will need a different non-Apple email address (a free one from Yahoo etc. would do) to set up the ID. If they are sharing a Mac they need to be using a separate user account.
They can have their own iCloud accounts and still all sign into the same iTunes account: or they can open their own iTunes accounts using their new iCloud Apple IDs.
BUT they cannot transfer items purchased under the present iTunes ID to different iTunes IDs.

  • I have multiple devices and one itunes account can they have separate icoulds?

I have multiple devices on one itunes acccount, can they have separate icoulds?

Settings > iCloud > Sign in with the desired Apple ID.
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Sign in with the desired Apple ID.
The two above can be different Apple IDs, mine are.

  • How to use multiple devices on one itunes account

I have one itunes account, three iphones and one itouch.  How do we use the same itunes account be not share data, pictures, contacts etc?

Connect the iOS device, select it from the left column under "devices" and just don't check those items in iTunes:
Un-check the appropriate boxes for Contacts, etc. You can set these individual preferences for each iPhone and iPod Touch.

  • Help needed with iMessage on multiple devices on one iTunes account

Hi, please can someone help.  I have an iPhone 4S and my wife has an iPhone 4, we are using iMessage with one Apple ID with no problems (I presume as the messages are sent to the phone number), however I have purchased both my daughters an iPod Touch each for Christmas and want to set up iMessage for them so we can all message eachother.  We will all be sharing one iTunes account so can share music / movie / app purchases.  How do I set this up?  Thanks in advance.  Richard

However, when I connected my "fresh" iPad, it immediately started to sync (set to automatic sync), and started to put all my 100 or so iPod Touch apps to my iPad....They were all checked.
It's been a while since I connected a fresh iPad, but I believe that doing a full sync is the default. Stopping the sync and changing what apps you wanted was the correct procedure.
So, next time I connect the iPad, it "knows" which apps need to synced, and does not try to sync "all" apps?
Correct. I do that all the time with my two iPads, each of which have a different set of apps, music, videos, etc.
    Regards.

Recently I attempted to create manual syncing for my 3 devices on an itunes account. I didnt really know what I was doing, and now have nothing on one device. How can i restore itunes to normal again?

Open itunes, connect device, select what you want, sync.

  • Can I put all of my families devices under one itunes account

How do I put all of my families devices under on itunes account?  Will this delete all of the existing music on the devices?  Previously they have been under 2 accounts.
    Thank you

You can transfer your apps (don't know about "and stuff") from your ipod to your computer. See this article [Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848?viewlocale=en_US] for info on that.
If there are items on your ipod that are not on your computer, you will need a [third party app|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparisonof_iPodManagers]. I have used CopyTrans in that list, but you can look over what works best for you.
Once you have everything in iTunes, be sure you back up your old touch, which will happen automatically with a sync. That way when you connect your new one, you will have the option of restoring from your backup.

  • Changing device from one itunes account to another?

I just got an iphone 5 and when my husband plugged it into the computer he accidently put my phone (device) under his itunes account rather than using my Apple ID.  Is there any way to move my phone to my own account?  Everytime he gets a new app and I sync to the laptop I get everything that he's downloaded or purchased.  Please help!
In my efforts to "fix" the problem, I deleted the two iphones from his account in the hopes that I could just reconnect the phones and change the apple ID.  Now I can't get them back.  I'm so confused!!

    1) If you are talking about a different itunes store account, just log out of the old one and log into the new one by going to: Settings, Store, Sign out. Then sign in on the different account. Warning, you'll need to log into the original account to update any apps purchased and still loaded on the ipad. THis is done at the update screen in the apps store when updating.
    2) If you are trying to clean off all the data and re-sync it with a new itunes account with new apps and music, pohotos, etc, do the following:
_Warning: This will reset the ipad to factory specs_:
Go to Settings, General, Reset, Erase all content and settings.
Then, just activate and sync the ipad to the new itunes account.

  • HT1689 can i sync more than one device to one itunes account

can i sync 2 iphones to the same itunes account?

Each device will be seen as an individual item. So, yes you can sync both phones with one iTunes account.

  • Can more than one device share one itunes account

My wife and I both have the iphone 4 (not 4S) that are sync'd to the same computer and share one itunes account, but after I upgraded to iOS5 only one of us is able to access the "icloud" or itunes or anything else for that matter with that that user name...anyone know what gives?

    Yes

  • Divorcing multiple devices from one itunes account

We have one Apple ID / iTunes account with multiple devices attached. I would like to divorce all devices and have each member of the family with their own Apple ID/itunes, but don't want to lose the content (music etc) that has been accumulated over time. How do we do this?

Your iTunes collection is individual to computer, not in the cloud somewhere and synchronizing to your computer from there.  In other words, if you delete a file on one computer it will still be on the others until you delete it from there.  Likewise, if it is on one computer that is not a guarantee it will be on other computers. The closest to this is some of the automated downloading Apple does if you buy things from them.   You will just need to make sure your desktop is really up to date before wiping your media from the other computers.

  • How to transfer single device from one iTunes account to new iTunes account on another computer?

I have been successfully using a single iTunes account to sync & back-up two different iPhones.
One of those iPhones belongs to a now ex-boyfriend (no longer living with me), and naturally he would like to transfer the back-up data for his device to a new iTunes account (Apple ID) on a different computer.  While ongoing be able to sync, backup and update software for his iPhone on his computer.
    Is this possible?
I understand that recovery of the current media on his phone (i.e. apps, music, photos, etc.) that are all stored on my computer through my iTunes account will likely not be possible, but he doesn't want to erase all the important data/content (i.e. contacts, calendar, etc.) on his iPhone without being assured that a previous back-up can be successfully restored using his new iTunes account/library.
I'm aware of the back-up location & files for his device and can provide those to him on an external USB drive, but can someone please advise exactly how the restoration/procedure should work?  Or is there an alternative?

That's kind of a strange way to things, even if it's what Apple told you to do.
    Do this.
    - Access your *local* library
    - Go to iTunes->Preferences->Advanced
    - Select "Copy Files...." and "Keep iTunes Media File Oroganized"
    - Locate the files you want on the external disk
    - Drag them into the "Library" area of your sidebar
This will put the files in your local library and copy them to your MB.
They will still be on your external hard drive. You will have to separately delete them from that library if you want to.

  • Need help with many devices and one itunes account!!

I recently purchased each of my kids an Ipod Touch.  They all three are now using my Itunes account which has become a little bit of a problem.  The biggest issue now is with iMessage.  When a friend send a text message or tries to Facetime one of the kids, we all get the message.  They are all using my itunes account user name and password, for apps, music, etc....
What's the best way to seperate the three devices so they aren't all getting the same text messages?  Also, is it best to set up their own user accounts to sync their ipods with itunes?
    Any help would be appreciated.

If you want to use only one AppleID account for multiple devices but seperate imessage, you will have to use different email address to differentiate the device.
I would assume all your devices' imessage are setup under your AppleID email address.
First go to your kid Device's SETTINGS/MESSAGE/RECEIVE AT, Add another email address, type in email address of your kid(you will be asked to enter your Appleid password).  Once done, an email from Apple will be sent to this new email address to verify.  When your kid receive this email, click "Verify Now" link. The new email address now is ready for imessage.
Now go back to the same Device SETTINGS/MESSAGE/RECEIVE AT, go into your original email(your AppleID email) and tap "remove this email".  This will prevent your own imessage to appear on this device.
Do the same for all other devices for other kids.
You don't need to change anything for your own device.
That mean everyone will have an indepedent imessage based on their own email address.
    Hope this explains.
