HT204053 .me transition to iCloud?

Where to go to convert from .me to iCloud?

You seem confused, ripped music is not associated with an ID, only music purchased from iTunes.
You can not merge ID's, so spend the time looking at what they contain, pick one to login to, then authorize the machine for the other 2.
And none of this has anything to do with iCloud, iTunes is in charge of your music.

I have one paid mobileme account, few days ago I have done transition to iCloud and all my iDisk, contact... gone. Today I tried login to iCloud application on my windows pc (64bit) but I can not, it said "this apple id is valid but is not iCloud account". I can login on website icloud.com but can not login into iCloud application installed on pc. What's wrong?
I have tried another free apple ID and logged on. That's funny when I can login with free account and can not login with paid mobileme account!!!!!!

By the way - the only reason I downloaded iCloud is because Apple deleted the backup option from iTunes.  Since iCloud doesn't work, I guess we have no way to protect our iTunes music collection.  Absolutely stupid.

  • Podcasting after MobileMe transitions to iCloud

I plan to start my podcasts in the near future, and appreciate the information found in this community on getting started.  I plan to use my MobileMe account to host my podcasts.  What will happen to the podcasts when Apple transitions to iCloud?
Can anyone point me to information on copyrights?  For example, use of a portion of a music soundtrack in my podcast?  Reading from a published book on my podcast?
    Thanks

I would advise against starting a podcast on MobileMe at this stage. As its website hosting will be terminated next June, you will only have to go through the process of hosting the feed and media files on another service and moving iTunes to it: if you don't do this your podcast would simply cease to work. Any website hosting service can host your podcasts: there's nothing special about it.
This page gives you some 'get you started' information: http://rfwilmut.net/pc
As to copyright, to use any copyrighted recording or read text from any book still in copyright would be a breach of copyright, and likely to get your podcast rejected from the Store: and might possibly leave you open to civil actions for damages. It's possible to find music which is free to use: search on 'podcast sage' in Google: but you shouldn't use normal commercially available recordings.

  • After transition to iCloud from MobileMe, does MM still work on Snow Leopard Macs?

I have an older MacBook Pro that can't be ugraded to Lion. If I transition to iCloud from my MobileMe account, will MobileMe still sync on my Snow Leopard MacBook Pro at the same time my Lion MacPro and iOS5 iPhone sync to iCloud?

    No.
You cannot have both, only one - MM or iCloud. If you go the iCloud route, Snow is out .

  • My mobileme aliases have disappeared in the transition to iCloud but it won't let me put them again because they appear as being used.

  • Transition to iCloud - Contacts - disappointed at myself and Apple...

I have to stress that the non-automatic transition of contacts from MobileMe to iCloud is a very very poor show from Apple.  Massively dissapointed in myself for not reading the information regarding moving to iCloud more carefully and even more at Apple for not providing an automatic transition for crucial parts of MobileMe...
The loss of my Contatcs in MobileMe although not a total disaster it is a massive annoyance.
Apple should certainly be able to restore a users Mobile.Me account to a point prior to the iCloud move.......

There is an "automatic transition for crucial parts" of MobileMe.
Regardless of whether the transition process worked properly in your specific case, you should have been maintaining regular backups of your MobileMe data anyway. As stated in the MobileMe Terms of Use, you are responsible for backing up your data offline.
Apple also say's "Prior to moving from MobileMe to iCloud, you should back up your contacts, calendars, and bookmarks."
If you didn't take Apple's advice, and haven't been making backups, that's nobody fault but your own.

  • Smtp settings for mail send needed after transition mobileme - iCloud

    Hi,
I have transitioned our mail accountfrom mobilme to iCloud in July. Sending and receiving mail worked flawlessly until yesterday. As of today I cannot send mail. It indicates that my account is "offline". Can someone please remind me how to set our email account settings for sending?
    Thanks!

You have probably been using the same email "account" in the mail app as was used to connect to MobileMe (I'm surprised you've lasted as long as you did).  In Settings>Mail, Contacts..., go to the Account section and delete the account you've been using.  Then create a new icloud account using the same account ID.  That will properly connect to icloud and get all your emails back.
Not on Snow Leopard it won't, the account must be entered manually (using the settings provided). Your advice would be true if this were Lion or Mountain Lion but Snow Leopard will attempt to set it up as if it were Mobile Me.

  • After transition to iCloud, all local contacts lost

Following a 'Bumpy" transition from MobileMe to iCloud (a lot of duplication removal and clean-up), I notice the the Address Book (unbeknownst to me) was showing iCloud as the Default Account.  When I select "On My Mac"/"All on My Mac", it appears as totally empty.  The 729 contacts in the iCloud Address Book stays in 'sync with the 729 contacts on my iPhone, (I added and deleted, just to make sure).  iCloud preferences seems to be setup correctly (iCal is working fine).  In Address Book Preferences, the Primary (top acct) is showing iCloud with and enabled check-box; the sendonday acct is showing On My Mac, but it has no Enable check-box - just two for syncronizing with Yahoo and Google (both un-checked).  I even disabled the iCloud acct and tried to import a recent .abbu fille into the 'On My Mac Address Book' with no affect.  Any pointers would be appreciated.

at that time i think you select all thats why all were erased why do u create another account u can use 1google account.and try to recover or try to serch your contcat using PC companion there is a contact option and try it

  • Help with advanced multi-Mac transition to iCloud?

    Hello,
I've done a bit of searching and I've read all Apple's FAQs but my situation seems to be a bit outside the scope of any answers I've found.  Here's the deal:
I run a film-scoring studio based on a fleet of Macs which can't be moved to Lion for the time being (technical reasons).  I'm really bummed about losing iCal/contact syncing due to the forced iCloud transition but that's a different discussion ;-)
Anyway, my main concern is that I can't lose my .Mac email address so I have to move to iCloud on at least one device.   However, I need to be able to get my .Mac email using Apple's Mail app, but in Snow Leopard on all these Macs.  Is that still doable after moving to iCloud?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Migrate at Move
You need to do it soon
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard

  • HT204053 I have different iCloud IDs for my iPhone &Mac and I have 5GB on each, if I decide to use only 1 ID for both, can I have 10GB or will I be limited to 5 since it's 1 iCloud ID.

I have different iCloud IDs for my iPhone &Mac and I have 5GB on each, if I decide to use only 1 ID for both, can I have 10GB or will I be limited to 5 since it's 1 iCloud ID. I am afraid that if I I use only 1 iCloud ID for both of them I will be limited to only 5GB which is small a nd I don't have money to be paying annually for extra GB. Thanks and waiting for your replies.

The free 5GB allowance is per account, not per device.
If you back up to iTunes, 5 GB should be more than enough for the average user.

  • HT204053 2 devices - 1 icloud account issues; importing data to Iphone 6

I have an Iphone 4G and ipad which was sharing 1 icloud account . Big mistake! Because, the storage space was insufficient for both devices' data, I stopped backing up any more data into the icloud. Now I bought a new Iphone 6 and am wondering how I am to sync all my data ( including all the photos and contacts and apps) across from the Iphone 4G to the Iphone 6 .
Also, since I originally have 2 devices, can I create another icloud account separate for 4G now and then use that to sync my data across to the new  Iphone 6?
Otherwise I find it impossible to start using my iphone 6 at all!
    Thank you for any advice.

    Thank you for your reply.
My concern is that I do not want the data ( except for emails) which is in Ipad to be synced over to the new iphone which  I made the mistake of doing before with Iphone 4. The 2 devices are used for very different purposes so I would like to have 2 separate accounts for each device. My problem is trying to import only data from the iphone 4G to the new Iphone ,whereas since previously I only set up 1 icloud account for both devices, the data  ( eg photos, songs , books and apps ) appeared on both devices. I am trying to deviate from this. so in essence., I am hoping to set up a totally new account for the new iphone but to copy data from iphone 4 across.
Or should I  buy extra storage for a month  just for the purpose of backing up all data from both ipad and iphone 4 into that particular icloud account, then set up a new icloud account for iphone 6 and copy everything across and then delete data that came from the ipad one by one in the iphone 6 . After all, the new iphone 6 has 64 gb. In that way, I can still maintain the icloud account for ipad ( and then delete all the unnecessary data from iphone 4 in that particular icloud account) and have a separate icloud account for the new Iphone 6 as well.
Would really appreciate some feedback . TQ.

  • HT204053 Apple ID and iCloud Account

    Hi there,
I have changed my email address of my Apple ID. As a result I can only use the new email address to sign in App Store. I used this new email address to log in iTunes Store and App Store on my iPhone. But I realise that the email address in iCloud settings on my iPhone is still the old one!
It becomes very confusing to me now, because I can no longer use the old email address as my Apple ID. How come the iCloud on my iPhone is still using the old email address, and it seems it is still working with no problems?
Right now the situation is that I assigned the new email to my App Store settings on my iPhone (see the 1st picture below) but I do not how to do the same for iCloud settings (see the 2nd picture below). What should I do now? Will I lose all the Photo Stream pictures and all iCloud synchornised files on my iPhone?
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards,
    Fei

To change the iCloud ID, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your phone, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your data will reappear on your phone when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos over 30 days old, save them to your camera roll before deleting the account (tap Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.

  • HT204053 Although I have iCloud, my system preferences still show Mobile.me.  I have to sign in with my mobile.me ID which is not the same as my Apple ID. I want to change my iCloud ID and password.  How do I do it?

Although I can access iCloud, my system preferences on my iMac still show Mobile.me.  I have to sign in with my mobile.me ID which is not the same as my Apple ID. I want to change my iCloud ID and password to be consistent with my Apple ID and password.  How do I do it?

you need to be running OSX 10.7 or 10.8 to use iCloud i believe. It shows you are using 10.6.8 which doesn't support iCloud.

  • HT204053 I have an iCloud ID on my iPad 2 which is different to my Apple ID.  I don't know where the reset email is going to? It's not recognising my birthdate.  Could be a hacker.  What do I do?

My iCloud Id is different to my Apple ID on my iPad 2. Trying to make them the same but cannot reset.  Reset goes to my Apple ID gmail.  This password is fine.  Gmail sees both my gmail addresses as belonging to the same person because they do.  One has a . in the name and one doesn't.  They marry up the two addresses.  This is confusing iCloud and Apple ID.  Have tried to access account through security questions but its not recognising my birthdate.  This is weird as no other matching names globally.  Maybe a hacker has taken over the iCloud account ID.  I'm not sure how to resolve.  Help please?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare (or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.
