HT204053 Multiple Apple ID in family, one account

I have tried to change the family iTunes account to my wife's Apple ID that we set up a year ago but never used.  Itunes won't let me change to that one because it is "already in use."  How do I now transfer purchases to her account?

I no longer want the purchases that are on the account.  I want to simply change the name of the account to hers so that she can have all the purchases that she and the kids made under my account name.  There's no way to do that?

You don't. You can't combine Apple IDs.

  • Using Multiple Apple TV's with One Account

I am thinking of installing multiple Apple TV's in my home so we can rent/buy movies in different rooms. Is their any limitation of how many can be logged in at one time? Can I be downloading to multiple ATV's at the same time using the same account?

You can connect up to 5 tv's to your itunes library. Yes they can download content from the itunes store at the same time, playback the same or different content at the same time or a mixture of each. You may find though that this can put a strain on some networks and performance may vary.
I have 5, I can't say for sure I've ever had five playing movies together, certainly had 3 and probably 4 and for me they have worked well, albeit my network is a little more than what most people would want to set up.

  • HT204053 Can you have multiple apple ids that access one itune account??

I need to know if I can have multiple Apple Ids attached to one itunes account.  Trying to set facetime up on these separate devices and it keeps failing.  Any help would be appreciated.  I tried to add additional emails, but I all I get is verifying and it never verifies it.

yes you can still sync all the devices on itunes using one master itunes/appleID account.
    Music:
If you want to select specific playlists for your kids, DON'T enable iTunes Match on their devices, otherwise they will get ALL the playlists on their devices (learned that the hard way)
If you have wi-fi synced enabled that should still work.
    Apps:
I manually select which apps they get on their devices using itunes. It only changes when they re-sync.
Don't enable AUTO downloads on their devices for Apps or Music purchases.
Since I also have young kids using these devices:
I have restrictions setup on their devices. I don't allow them to install/delete apps, nor do I allow them to make any account changes on their devices. This way their devices stay in order and get backed up to icloud. I can easily restore their devices if I needed too.
Once in a while I will disable the restrictions so I can update all their apps.
    Hope this helps!

Multiple Apple IDs (2) with Purchases & iTunes Match. Apple TV Purchases. Not happy to have to log in/out to view and enjoy my Purchase Contest. What's the solution?

    Hi
i ran into the same problem. surprisingly though, i am not using multiple apple id and just one mac.
i did change both the account (apple id) and the computer (from pc to a mac server), but home sharing is on and the apple tv (1) is synced with the new computer.
i can connect to the itunes store and browse through it (signed in at all times). i cannot purchase any content and cannot play transferred rentals from the computer (apple tv is not authorised...)
somehow, it seems the apple tv was stuck with a previous id.
i have just now re-authorised my computer on the account and will give the apple tv another try. i did notice a message during the re-authorisation process. the apple tv is being authorised. this gives me hope.
in any case, your setup seems to be a dream come through. i decided to phase out my high end multiroom linn kivor system (over 20k back 6y ago) to an itunes based system. apparently you managed to build something.
i tried an itunes based nas but gave up due to complex operation (and overheating on top) and went for a mac server. i will be using windows clients though.
most of my content is cd based. can you sync purchased content between pc's? or with a server?

  • How do you have multiple apple id's with one itunes

how do you have multiple apple id's with one itunes

I have multiple IDs and use the single computer sharing itunes. By 'sharing' I mean we open the pc, open itunes and log in with our individual ID as required.
While Im logged in I plug in  my device. I transfer my purchases from my device as per the file menu (not the check for auto downloads). I move them as required to whichever playlist I like.
Then when my son wants to use itunes or update his device, he logs in, plugs in his device, transfers purchases from his device, puts whatever music he wants into his playlist and/or drags direct to the device regardless of who purchased it and then syncs.
Im not sure how it works associating the pc with only one ID or all that other business- I know I don't fiddle with any of that.

  • How do I combine my three apple id's into one account, purchases?

How do I combine my three apple id's into one account, purchases?
These apple id's used different email accounts.
I would like to close down the two other apple id's and use only my iCloud account.

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new Apple ID.
The only way to get down to one Apple ID is to abandon content from the other two, or abandoning the idea of ever updating anything from the other two.

Each "source" can only play one thing at a time, but you can have multiple sources on the same network simultaneously, going to different ATVs. For example, you can stream a movie from your iTunes library to one ATV, and at the same time stream music from your iPhone to another ATV. What you can't do is stream a movie and music from a single source (e.g. iTunes) +at the same time+.

  • How do we connect multiple Apple ID's to one common account?, How do we connect multiple Apple ID's to one common account?

My wife and daughter both have iPhones - they like different music and Apps.  How can we keep their iTunes accounts separate, but allow them to both get access to the paid apps and music we currently have in the one account?

    Hello JamyandTami,
It sounds like you purchase all the apps and music for your wife and daughter with one Apple ID, but you want to sync different information to each iPhone.  I recommend using method 2 in the article below and just syncing the information you want to each phone using a playlist for the music and selecting only the apps you want on each device:
    Method Two
You may use multiple devices on a computer without the need to create multiple user accounts. To do this, you can set iTunes to update each device with only certain playlists. This method allows you to put all your music on, say, your iPod and keep your iPod shuffle updated with only your workout music. Here's how to do this with iTunes:
Create new iTunes playlists that contain all the music that you want to sync to each device.
Learn how to sync your device.
I recommend reviewing the full article if you would like to see other options:

You can also download only what you want from the App and iTunes Store to each respective device using the steps in this article:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
With either of these methods, you would want to disable automatic downloads on each device so that any new purchases are not automatically downloaded on your wife's phone when your daughter downloads something and vice versa:

  • HT204053 merge multiple Apple ID's into one Apple ID

I have multiple Apple ID/accounts and would like to merge into one account

Cannot be done. Just use one account in the future and remove all private information from the other.  Unfortunately any purchases will remain forever (unless Apple changes its mind) separated.

  • Multiple Apple ID's on one computer - it says we have to wait 90 days to add the 2nd one?

I deauthorized our computer using my applie ID - I did not know it would deauthorize my husbands account as well.
I reauthorized it using my AppleID.  Now my husband cannot authorize his account until 90 days go by.  We share the computer, is there a way around this?
He is the one with the itunes match on his account & most of the music.  Now he cannot access it for 90 days?  Is that right?
I will forfeit my account on this computer if we can put his on.

A computer, as far as I know, can't have more than one iTunes library at a time.  I could be wrong, since you seemingly did so previously? Either way, I'd say you will need to deauthorize your account and authorize his.  If you still have trouble, then you will need to contact Apple support to reset the account or you might be better to just wait and contect them right away, get the "rules" of your situation and then see how they can help.
Oh, I think actually I found what might be your problem, yes you will need to contact Apple directly.  The problem is a legal issue due to the addition of iCloud.  So, it seems your computer accessing both accounts was a sort of grandfather glitch that you "fixed" when you deauthorized your account.  Now, again due to legal reasons related to iCloud, you cannot authorize your husband's computer because otherwise what's stopping you from downloading all of your music, then downloading all of his music, then get a few friends together and download all of their music.  Sure, you could copy the files over manually and add them (and that may be what you have to do for the next 90 days) but they can't allow it to be so easy as just downloading multiple accounts to your computer(s).

  • How to manage multiple itunes gift cards on one account?

I am assuming our family is not the only one that had gift cards received as Christmas gifts--for multiple members of the family, who all use one iTunes account. I cannot figure out how Billy's $20 avoid being used by Sally, who has her own $20 gift card?
    How is this done?

There has got to be a better way!  If I set up new ids for each child, will they lose access to the content they have already purchased under my id?
No, but each device is limited to protected content from up to 5 different accounts. Updating iOS apps purchased over more than one account is non-trivial as you have to actively log in to each account in turn. I would suggest sticking to one account while everyone is living in the same household.

  • Multiple Id's associated with one account?

When I first created my Apple ID, I was using a communial personal computer. There were multiple users utilizing multiple apple ids on the same PC. The computer is no longer shared, and I've even changed my personal computer to a new MacBook Pro, but years later every time I atempt to make a App store purchace I am prompted to give the password for not only my apple id, but those of the 4 other users.
I don't understand how my account has become so integrated with the others -- is there a way to streamline my account?
    Thanks for any help!

if you guys were sharing a computer andsyncing with that computer, chances are you picked up some of their content along the way.
For example- lets say you have apps that say they need updating. You go click on one to update it, and up pops somebody elses apple id and password field for you to enter their password.
You go to the next app, ad it pops up saying the same thing.
So you move on to the next one, which is yours, so you update it.
What you have encountered is somebody elses content on your phone/ipad/ipod/whatever.
That content is only accessible from the apple ID it was used to purchase it. So even tho you may SEE the content on your phone, you cannot access it or play it. it is not yours, it was purchased or downloaded from somebody elses apple ID.
The only way you can stop that is to delete the apps/content that is not yours. If its content that you do want, you can download it while signed in to your own apple ID and it will then belong to you.
you can delete apps by pressing and holding the icon, you will see an X appear, click that X and it will uninstall/delete the app.
And just incase you ever share a computer again, check out the following article.
