What is the exact message, and have you already setup an iCloud account (using a Mac, or an iPhone etc)

If you are getting a message that says you have a valid Apple ID but not an iCloud ID, it's because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC. You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher. After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using this ID on your PC.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

Thanks for the question. In my experience, the steps outlined in the "Unable to activate FaceTime or iMessage with phone number and Apple ID after waiting 24 hours (iPhone only)" section of the following article usually resolves this issue:

Follow these steps if your phone number and Apple ID do not activate after waiting 24 hours.
1. Back up your iPhone in iTunes.
2. Disconnect the iPhone from iTunes.
3. Turn FaceTime and iMessage off:
          - Settings > FaceTime
          - Settings > Messages
4. Navigate to Settings > General > Reset and select "Erase all content and settings".
5. In the iOS setup assistant, select "Set Up as New iPhone".
6. Sign in to your Apple ID with FaceTime and iMessage. Go to:
          - Settings > FaceTime and tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime"
          - Settings > Messages and tap "Use your Apple ID with iMessage"
7. Verify that FaceTime and iMessage activate successfully. It may take up to 24 hours to complete activation. When activation is successful, a check mark will be visible next to your phone number and email address in Settings > FaceTime and Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
8. Disable automatic syncing in iTunes.
          - For Mac OS X: Click the iTunes menu and choose Preferences. Click the Devices tab and select the option to "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically". Click OK.
          - For Windows: Click the Edit menu and choose Preferences. Click the Devices tab and select the option to "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically". Click OK.
9. Connect the iPhone and restore from the backup. Do not perform a full restore.

My apple ID and password work for everything else but when I use it to start up Icloud it says This Apple ID's email address cannot be verified. Change your apple ID's email address at appleid.apple.com to sign into iCloud. I've tried resetting my password but hate to change my Apple ID.

I tried everything you said but after I downloaded ICloud on my computer and tried to log in with the Apple ID that is my email which works on everything else, it says "the Apple ID email address cannot be verified. change your apple ID email address at appleid.apple.com to sign into Icloud" But I don't want to change my apple ID to a different email because that is my email.

Why doesn't the iTunes Apple ID and password work for iCloud on the iPhone 3GS?

I even logged into this Apple Support Community using my Apple ID and password with no problem. It also works in iTunes. But it still doesn't work for iCloud on my iPhone 3GS. It keeps saying "Unsupported Apple ID - iCloud requires an Apple ID that is an email address (including @me.com addresses)" I even put my email address associated with my Apple account and I still get the same message. I also checked to make sure the OS software was up to date.

My apple id is not valid for icloud, why?

I have been active "user" of apple id a long time and at first did not realize how important it is not to have several apple id:s. Over a couple of years I have now tried to merge my id:s but still have 6 or 7 id:s that are active. It seems you can not kill them. However I have one id that I consider my own and basic. This is the id I use to log in to itunes and where I have bought a lot of music, films, maps and so on. It would make sense for me to be logged in the the icloud function to share my resources between devices, but when I try connecting to icloud it wont let me log in with the argument that my apple id is not supported, the same id that allow me to buy on itunes. Anyone with a similar experience?

That doesn't seem to be the issue. Although I didn't know where to check for how many of that limit I have, I know that my wife only has 2 apple products: her iPhone 4s and her old Macbook.
I did an additional test that might help shine some light on the problem and eliminate some of the possible things that are wrong: I was able to sign in as her on my iPhone 4, and I was unable to sign in as myself on her iPhone 4S. So the issue definitely seems to be tied to her phone, not to either of our accounts, like the error message says. Questions is, why all of the sudden? It was working fine up until yesterday.

After dozens of hours, emails and chat sessions with both MS and Apple tech support (the latter escalated as high as it could go - "after this we have to refer you to engineering"), I was finally told by Apple Senior Advisor Ciara Ferguson that icloud control panel does not properly sync icloud mail with Outlook 365 (Outlook 2013). After several months of working on dual systems I discovered that many (but not all) changes to folder names and filing of emails in various folders made in Outlook were not reflected on icloud and vice versa. Ms. Ferguson has stated that icloud control panel "works better with calendar and contacts." Obviously, this non-committal statement is grossly insufficient. It either works or it doesn't. It doesn't.
Allegedly, icloud control panel does work to sync other email (the example of an outlook.com email address was given) into apple devices. This doesn't sound right to me either, since one can just add any POP or IMAP or Exchange account into a Mac device, so why would one need icloud control panel to interface?
I remain stymied as to the actual purpose of icloud control panel, despite asking exactly that question of Ms. Ferguson on several occasions. The Apple literature and its own setup screens suggest that it will sync email, contacts, calendar and notes with MS Outlook, but as to email, that is apparently untrue.

I don't think so. I'd like to sync photostream from two iPhones with distinct Apple IDs on our PCs and I don't see a way to do it. It synced my wife's iPhone while she was logged in to iCloud control panel but not mine until I logged in (and disconnected her photostream PC syncing).

I am trying to access my iTunes on a second computer, which apparently requires iCloud. After downloading iCloud, I get an error message that says my iTunes ID is correct but that it will not work for iCloud. Help!

I did that, and when I sign in to iCloud, and enter my iTunes ID and password as directed, I receive a message saying that it is my correct iTunes ID, but that it is not the ID for iCloud. Apple Mail search not working for Inbox

In the last few weeks I've notice the Apple Mail (5.2) search feature has stopped working correctly. It used to turn up all relevant results in a mail box, then lately it seems (based on the results) to go back just a few weeks and not the full year of mail that is in the mailbox.
Following the advise of a MacWorld article I removed these files from Mail's library folder… Envelope Index, Envelope Index-shm, and Envelope Index-wal, restarted Mail and followed the prompt to reindex. Following that… Search works worse, I run tests to find a word in the body and get 0 results… and I know it's there. As I type in the last letter of the word into the Seach lozenge I get a list just below the lozenge ) of People and Subjects that contain the word but nada results for the word in the Body of the message. These tests were run on the Inbox, other mailboxes (with List-serve Mail) seem to work ok… but the Inbox Search is what I really care about.
Any ideas about fixing this? Thanks in advance,
