shortly after upgrading my desktop to lion , all my devices seem to have disconnected from each other , Itunes is the only thing that continues to push new material to the other devices . I am such a mac challenged person i don't know how to fix the issue .

You say you told your iPhone to backup to iCloud and it took a while and reported it finished. Backing up your iPhone to iCloud shouldn't change anything on your iPad, so I'm not sure what you are saying didn't work. I sync my contacts, calendars, and all between my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 all the time with no problems. This has nothing to do with backups.

The automatism of the synchronization seems to be activated : when I open Firefox, and when I add a new password, or a new bookmark, a small message is displayed at the bottom of the page, saying that there is a connecting problem and the password is not right. So I try to force the password anew, it says the password has been renewed . And 5 minutes later it says that sync has failed, and ask me a new password. Well, it does not work.

When i try to do a software update, it finishes and then says that the update cannot be saved because it has probably been corrupted during the download. This has happened a number of times and i do not know why, any help?

Screen View has changed to plain text and I don't know why or how to get it to return to a normal view

My screen view has changed to a plain text yesterday and I do not understand why. I did not make any changes. I did not install any new programs. I did install to updates from Neat Works and Quick Time. Also ran PC clean up by AVG.

ICloud doesn't sync between mac and iPhone...

Hello all. I have an iphone 4 and I macbook pro which I have just upgraded the OS to OSX Mountain lion.
I have never really made use of icloud before, but intend to start using it as I intend to get an ipad soon.
I have gone into icloud on both my mac and iphone and ticked on everything for icloud. However,nothing seems to really sync. My notes don't go between devices. As far as I can tell neither do my photos.
The only large file on my icloud seems to be backups. However, the only thing in this folder seems to be the back up folder...which only seems to contain infinitiy blade data.
Any help as to where I'm going wrong?

I don't want to trust the iCloud, so I want to sync my PERSONAL Notes on my iPhone (4) just with my iMAC (via iTunes), and not saved in iCloud.
Yes iCloud is great for syncing/saving common data, but I want to choose what I sync and if I choose not to save in icloud than I want to have the possibility to save it elsewhere.
Now with Mountain Lion it is not possible anymore to sync between my iPhone and iMac
More and more companies are going to say/dictate "This and this is good for you!"
Please Apple, take your Customers serious and let themselve choose what good for them is!

Icloud calendar: issues syncing between devices

I have an iCloud account which is sycned with my Outlook 2010 and Android calendar. It is not smooth sailing:
Appointments made in my phone appear in my Android Calendar and Outlook
Appointments made in my Android calendar appear in my phone and iCloud but not Outlook
BUT appointments from Outlook do not appear anywhere else.
So the syncng is happening correctly in some directions but not all.
I have dis- and re-connected iCloud in Windows 8/OUtlook 2010 several times and this is not resolving itself.
Can anyone suggest a way to get Outlook to talk nicely to iCloud in both directions?

Files (music/videos) sync between devices and Mac

Hi all. Hope you would be able to help.
I have iOS devices (iPhone and iPod touch) and a Macbook Pro. Basically, I would like to sync all my media files to my iPod touch (i.e. all my music and videos) but only a few albums to my iPhone (due to limited iPhone storage and its main use being for other apps and communication).
Sync between Macbook Pro and iPod touch is perfectly fine and straight forward - just syncing all files between the 2. However, when I connect my iPhone to the Macbook Pro, I know there is an option which I can sync specific albums but if I connect the iPhone the second time, will the Macbook Pro recognizes that there are only a few albums in my iPhone and decides to wipe out the rest of the albums in the music library? I just want to make sure that the Macbook Pro recognizes the 2 devices as 2 "separate devices" and I am able to sync how many files I want for specific devices whilst my Macbook Pro preserves all the media files. Can anyone guide me how to make sure the above operation on iTunes?

I was just looking at this again and noticed something strange.
Under the iCloud section of the Settings on my iPad, I don't have a "Documents and Data" option. Essentially, every time I use a program that wants to access iCloud for documents, that program's individual settings are reset to not use iCloud.
Any thoughts?

Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I have an icloud account that has been absolutely fine for years but this week I received spam emails saying that postmaster returns from a company in Germany. These kept popping up. I ignored them but now i cannot access or receive any emails. Please can you help. We have another email through icloud which is fine.

Will I be able to disable the automatic icloud sync between devices?

What I want to know from looking at the keynote speech it looks like if I buy a song on my phone or ipad it will also get downloaded to my son's iphone even though he may not want the sond and vice versa. I hope there will be a way to disable the automatic sync between devices because in theory it sounds good but when you have several ios devices in the family they usually don't want to have the same music that I listen too. I have a MBA, Iphon4, and Ipad and would not mind all of them syncing together but my son's iphon 3GS does not need to be synced with the other devices. I didn't hear anything about being able to disable it and if someone knows can they let the rest of us know. Thanks.

I just hope that sharing is ok. Also using picture flow could be bad too. What if I want to take a picture that I don't want on any other device. There was nothing wrong with the way it worked as I could set up iDisk only on my devices and my son's would not be affected. Like I said good idea but for some of us we may not want stuff out on the cloud automatically.
Also I can see some folks up in arms about privacy issues just like they did with the tracking issue. I am thinking I will turn this service off on all my devices until I get more information about it after it is implemented.

How often iCloud sync between devices takes place?

Previously on Mobile Me, sync between devices (of contacts, bookmarks, etc...) was automatic and there was an option to trigger a sync manually. The automatic mode was very fast, and updates would occur in a matter of a minute or less.
With iCloud I can't find an option to intiate a sync. And automatic sync seems to take ages, sometimes hours.
It can cause problems, for example, I go out to an important meeting and I update the meeting address on my mac's calendar. Then on the way to the meeting I refer to my iPhone to check the details, but 15-30 minutes later they are still not there.
Does anyone else experience this slowness in updating, and has anyone found a way to force a sync?

To refresh on Mac iCal: View > Refresh all (see screen shot).
To refresh on iOS devices I find that to quit and reboot the app usually speeds things up (double tap home button > press and hold app in question > tap red minus that appears > then reopen from home screen).
