So I just update my Iphone 4S and it seems that everytime I update it goes back to my old email Apple ID and keeps asking me for the password. I deleted the email almost a year ago so when put it in it says its invalid. How can I put the new ID in again? This is the third time its done this and every time I just delete account it takes all my contacts with it. This is aggrivating,

If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Content is tied to the account that bought/downloaded it and it can't be copied or transferred to a different account - for apps only that account can download updates to them. So if you downloaded it via one account and then created a new account, you will need to use the original account to download updates or authorise it on your computer's iTunes.

Why would old apple id save after updates

In order to update apps yo have to sing into the account that purchased them. It appears that you are update more than one app at one time and they were purchased from more than one account. You have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
You go to Settings>Store to sign out and sing into an different account.

I just updated my macbook pro to Mavericks. After the install and reboot, I went to install updates and it is requiring me to enter my apple id and password for every update. This behavior is new. Why is App Store.app reading the password from my keychain?

WiFi stops working after every update on iMac

I am hoping someone can help me out with this. After several months of trying to figure out what was causing the issue I have finally been able to figure it out and reproduce it. This problem is that after each and every update from Apple on my 2012 iMac, it breaks my wifi for every other device (macbook pro, iphone 5, ipad 3, ps3, dvd, etc). The network still shows, but no device can connect to it. The only one that will remain connected is the iMac (no ethernet cables used). In order to fix it I have to press and hold the reset button on the modem/router. Going into the router/modem and resetting the wifi, modules, router, etc does not fix the problem. Once I hold the reset button down and reboot the modem/router all is fine until I do any other update from Apple (or the Apps Store). Has anyone else encountered this or know of a fix (or even somethign to test)? Both the macbook pro and the imac are running Mountain Lion, all other devices are up to date as well. This is beyond frustrating!

also i noticed that once i switch on my airplane mode and then connect to the wifi it works great as ever. but once i go back to normal made again the same problem occurs. can somebody plz help me.

IPhone is asking for an old Apple ID's password when updating apps.

So here's a strange thing. I have two Apple IDs. As far as I can tell, everything is set-up to use only 1 of those IDs, and the other, I just don't even touch. But when purchasing or updating apps on my iPhone, it asks me for the password of teh Apple ID account that I don't use. I know you can't delete an Apple ID account (which I find VERY annoying!), so does anyone know how I can just completely migrate to the primary account so it stops asking me for my old password on the old account?
Edit: This question is posted using my old account because I can't seem to log into discussions or communities with the new one. What the heck?!

My understanding thus far is that each App purchase is tied to only the xact Apple ID that was used to purchase it. So supposedly if you change your Apple ID those Apps bought on the Old Apple ID are not transferable to a new Apple ID. The reason for this would be that otherwise people could endlessly share their purchased Apps with other Users with different Apple ID's, who would not have to pay for the use of the Apps.

I have an old apple account that alot of my apps were bought on. I didnt use this id for a couple of months and now it is no longer a registerd ID, even though I did not delete it
I have a new ID now but my problem is that when I try and update or buy extras for the games it brings up my old id and asks for password, and gets no further as its obviously no longer registerd...So annoying! I have tried using my current apple ID but it has to be the ID you used when purchasing.

hey im kinda having the same problem. except i made a new apple id cause it said my old one was disabled because of secruity reason. and ever time i go to buy an app or something my old id shows up. did u find out how to fix it? cause its been going on like three days now and it is ******* me off.

Using same makepkg after every update?

Say if I tweak a makepkg file for a package in AUR, after an update how do i make it use my tweaked one again (instead of retrieving the default one every-time)

This second strategy takes more work specifying your customizations. However, once you've got it set yp for a particular package, updates thereafter are a breeze---at least, until the PKGBUILD changes in more radical ways.

IPod touch reverts to factory settings after every update.

I bought my iPod touch in March, and have never had any problems. Then about two months ago, it wiped itself after a software update (through iTunes) and reverted back to original factory settings (turn it on, get starter screen telling you to connect iPod, everything is gone, etc). I figured it was a one-time glitch and put everything back on it. However, it has happened three times now, and every time, it happens right after an update. I back it up every time I plug it into my computer, but now, it won't back up, and it won't restore from a backup. It just gives me error messages, or the only available option is system restore (factory reset). I'm getting really frustrated with it, because I have to set up every single thing over and over again.
Should I just try to send it in to replace/fix it, since I still have the one-year warranty? Or is there a way to fix this myself?

This doesn't solve the fact that your iPod goes back to factory settings, but have you tried Backing it up onto iCloud? Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > (takes a few seconds to appear) Backup. You do have to be connected to internet to do this. All you have to do is to remember to do this before you update.

No, you will be unable to link Apple IDs, if you are unable to remember the password you will need to purchase it on your current Apple ID.

My iCloud account on my iPhone is my old Apple ID. My MacBookPro and iTunes are with the new Apple ID. I updated my iPhone with the new operating system and my iCloud account was with my old Apple ID and wouldn't accept the Apple ID or password so I had to skip the step where it synced my FaceTime, iMessage and iCloud. How can I change my Apple ID on my phone so it reflects my Apple ID on all my other devices?

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

I am installing for 1st time apple tv and after software update no reboot

I am installing Apple TV for 1st time and have done a software update. There is no reboot after the update. I do not want to turn off and on to restart the unit. What should I do?

Specifically I wonder if the AppleTV may be trying to connect with an unsupported resolution giving a black screen. Try cycling display resolutions using these remote commands in step 6:
If your TV screen appears fuzzy or black (you see no video)
Make sure the television you are using supports the Apple TV resolution requirements. Please see the Apple TV technical specifications.
When you connect power, check to make sure the LED turns on. If the LED is not on, then verify with a known good power outlet or connect something else to the outlet you're using for Apple TV and make sure it works (such as a lamp or clock).
Make sure you're using the correct video cables and that they are connected firmly to Apple TV and to your TV.
Connect the HDMI cable directly into the Apple TV and your television, remove any third party devices or adapters.
Make sure the input setting you've selected on your TV matches the input you have your video cables connected to. See the documentation that came with your TV for more information.
Change the Apple TV resolution by pressing and holding the Menu and Up button for six seconds. The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals. Pressing the Select button will immediately cycle to the next resolution.

Old apple id. can't update apps

I misplaced my iTouch and recently found it but it's got an old apple id. I no longer have email address or password. I can't update any apps or add any apps. I tried signing out and signing in with my new id, but it still shows up with old id. any help please?

I have two phones on one apple ID. After one updated yesterday on icloud it automatically took my contacts off and put the other ones on there. They still show up if I actually type them in when texting but not in the list.

When I go to text the numbers I can still find but when I click on the contacts they do not show. Is there a way to change this without restoring the last back up?

You'll have to migrate one of the phones to a different account, then delete the other person's data from each account (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account. On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't from each account.

Apple mail crashes after Mavericks update

My Apple mail crashes after Mavericks installation. There are also some other minor bugs that slow down the system but they are by and by adjusting, for example, the mouse took little time to ge tused to mavericks, but notw it is fine. Only issue is Apple mail.

My initial enthusiasm about the account de- and reactivation actually waned quickly after I realized that I couldn't have all accounts active without crashing. Now I just discovered a new solution that seems to do the trick for me:
*Delete Smart Mailboxes (e.g. "Today")
It seems Mail reindexes all the thousands of mails that you have in your folder and mail just breaks down if you have several bigger accounts.
After deleting smart mailboxes, Mail now works normal. So far...
Tip for those that haven't upgraded to Mavericks yet: delete the smart folders/mailboxes in Mail, and please report here whether you encountered issues or not.
