HT204053 Sync iPhone Cloud w/ New Apple ID

I just updated my Apple ID with a new email address and a new password. Everything on my iPhone is updated, but the iCloud back up will not update. I'm unable to update my Apple ID under the iCloud settings (just the password) and therefore I'm stuck in a vicious cycle!

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Is this an entirely new ID or did you just change your mail addrtess in the same ID.

You need a valid/working email address in order to create an account.
Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old

    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.
Note that if yo chaghe acounts in Settings>iTunes and App Store media will NOT be deleted from the ipod but:
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • How do I sync iPhone to a new computer

I've just lost my old mac and will upgrade to a new model. How can I sync iPhone to the new mac? I made the iTunes backup. What other steps should i take to avoid losing my info and settings? Please help

You won't lose any of your iPhone settings when syncing your iPhone with a new computer. When doing so, iTunes on the new computer will create a backup of your iPhone where your iPhone settings are stored.
In addition to an iTunes backup, did you also create a backup of photos that were stored on your old Mac along with contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks?
Before syncing your iPhone, you need to transfer your iTunes library from your old Mac to your new. Then authorize your new Mac with iTunes with your iTunes account. Did you de-authorize your old Mac with iTunes? You can have up to 5 computers authorized with the same iTunes account.
Also before syncing, enter one contact in the Address Book, and one calendar events in iCal on your new Mac. Make these up if needed, which can be deleted later after the first sync. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing this data, which you want to select - especially if you don't have a backup of contact information and calendar events from your old Mac.
If you use iPhoto for transferring photos from your computer to your iPhone, you need to transfer your iPhoto library from your old Mac to your new or any photos that were transferred from your old Mac to your iPhone will be lost when transferring photos to your iPhone from your new Mac.

i changed my apple id and password but how can i update my iphone with the new apple id and password?i changed my apple id and password but how can i update my iphone with the new apple id and password?

You have to delete the old account, provide the password for the ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos that are not in your camera roll, save them to your camera roll before deleting the account (open your my photo stream album, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).

  • How can I sync my Iphone with a new apple ID and keep the old content?

Just got a new computer and had to create a new apple ID. I want to sync my iphone but keep all my contacts, apps, music, etc. from my old apple ID.  How would I go about that?

If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.

  • My family shares an account.  How do I switch my iphone to my new Apple ID without loosing all of my contacts and contents from the phone?

I just purchased an ipad and created a new Apple ID.  My phone currently shares an apple ID that the whole family uses.  What is the best/easiest way to switch my iphone 4S to my new ID without loosing everything in my phone?  I want to streamline my own stuff...

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish.  Are you trying to change your Apple ID for all services (iCloud, iMessage, store purchases, etc.)?  You can safely use a different Apple ID for all these things without jeopardizing your contacts/photos etc.  If you want to change your iCloud account you would need to turn off syncing for contacts and calendars and when prompted, choose to keep your data on your phone (rather than delete it).  Then you can go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Then you can set up a new iCloud account with a new Apple ID and turn on syncing for contacts, calendars, etc. again.  To change your iMessage Apple ID, go to Settings>Messages>Receive At, tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in with your alternate ID.
Where you will run into problems, however, is if you sync to a new iTunes library.  If you have already synced to one library and try to sync to a new one, iTunes will erase all iTunes content and replace it with the content in the new iTunes library.  Let me know if that's what you are trying to do.

  • How do I sync Iphone 5 to new MacBook Pro without deleting what's on iPhone?

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro and I have an iPhone 5 that has been synced with my PC.  When I try and sync the iPhone with the new MacBook ti tells me that it will erase what is on the iPhone and replace it with what is on the MacBook.  I want to sync all that is on the iPhone with the MacBook and not delete what is on the iPhone.
How do I do that without loosing any music, emails, photos, calender appointments, etc.?
Thank you for the help in advance.

A device can only sync with one library at a time.  Ideally you transfer the library from the PC to the Mac so it is still syncing with the same library.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168
Windows users see tip at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18879381
If you put it in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
If you don't have the library anymore then it gets messy.  You will have to use third party software to transfer the phone contents to the Mac and rebuild your library there so its content matches that of the old library so you are syncin the content back to the phone.
Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • How to sync iPhone 3GS to new computer without losing information

As my last computer was dying I was able to create a backup disk on itunes to use with my new computer. When I got my new computer, I put in the disk and had no problems transferring all of my songs, pictures, and videos to my new itunes. Now when I want to sync my iphone to my new computer it is saying that I must erase and resync with the new computer, but I am worried that I will lose all of my contacts and other information that I have stored on my iphone. Can anyone tell me if this is a legitimate concern, and if so what I can do to keep my contacts, mail, and other information on my phone but at the same time be able to put my new songs on my phone as well.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Do the following & you'll be OK since you've moved your itunes library:
First, disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected, under preferences in itunes, which in windows is in the edit menu.
Connect your phone, DO NOT SYNC.
Next, go up to Store>Authorize this computer.
    Next, File>Transfer Purchases.
Next, make sure you have at least one contact & one event in whatever supported program you use for that purpose. They can be fake, it doesn't matter.
Right click the phone in the device pane & select "Reset Warnings".
Next, right click again & select BACKUP.
Next, restore your phone from the backup you just made.
This must be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content. Which is selected from the various tabs. You should get a prompt regarding your contacts & calendar asking to "merge" or "replace", when you sync. Select "merge"
This is what's included in the backup you'll make & restore from:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
This is how to restore from that backup, as already referenced, when prompted to create another backup before you restore, decline as we will use the backup we made when we started:

  • Syncing iphone on a new Mac

    Now I'm really upset..
I recently bought a new MBP, and upone connecting my iphone Itunes comes up saying "there are app on your iphone which are not present here blablabla, do you you want to transfer these app to itunes library? If you don't transfer they will be deleted from your iphone"
Guess what, you choose "yes, transfer", and STILL it deletes apps from my iphone, which I REGULARLY downloaded from the Apple store!! (please assume some bad language here).
    Note that:
1)I use same account on both Itunes (old & new mac)and authorized new one for purchasing from Apple Store.
    2) I don't use the old mac that much now, but still I cannot understand WHY I can't sync my iphone with both computers.
    3) The f.. itunes deleted 47 apps out of 50, saying that I'm not authorized to play them (play them?) on the new mac. Why? WHY??
I could understand if I want to sync different iphones installing apps from one computer, but since nobody (supposely) plays iphone apps on itunes, why I cannot sync them on different computers??
AND, ABOVE ALL, WHY IT DELETES THEM FROM MY IPHONE WITHOUT EVEN ASKING??????????

You should have read the "blablabla" part of the warning message. To transfer apps on your iPhone to your new Mac, right-click your device on the iTunes sidebar and click "Transfer Purchases" before your first sync. Be sure to disable automatic syncing first.
This doesn't work for me. I read the "blablabla" part and it says: "if you choose not to transfer, those apps will be deleted".
What it DOES NOT say, is that if that mac is not the one authorized for syncing, those apps will be deleted anyway, as a matter of fact it does, and without even asking or telling anything. This is a totally unacceptable and non legal behaviour of itunes.
And still I have the problem I can't deauthorize the other mac. <Edited by Host>
    Best regards.

  • How do I change my iPhone to a new Apple ID so it is consistent with my MacBook?

I bought a new MacBook and i want my iPhone to be in sync with it but my iPhone is with a different Apple ID. The old Apple ID has too many devices already connected with it and I don't want to change that. I just want to set up my iPhone so it will sync smoothly with my MacBook for everything.

Just remember you cannot merge Apple ID, stuff you bought using that Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID. You cannot transfer purchases over.
That been said, you can sign out and sign in with the new Apple ID in iPhone's Settings > Store > Apple ID.

  • Want my old contacts on new iPhone with a new apple account

got a divorce, want to save my music apps contacts etc......have a new apple id. reset phone, now what? need to change iphone, ipad, and macbook pro

For music and apps purchased at itunes, you'll need to use the old itunes ID.  Purchased items are forever associated with the ID used to purchase them.
For contacts and other Apple data:  where have you been syncing?  Via itunes or icloud.

  • Trying to sync iphone songs to new ipod. All purchases were made on iphone. Don't even see a sync option anywhere.

I have songs a purchased using iPhone.  I bought a new ipod. I want to sync my songs to the ipod.  I don't see a sync option.

Use the same Apple ID on both devices.
You do it via computer iTunes: use Transfer Purchases with you iPhone connect to computer iTunes to transfer purchased items to iTunes, then connect iPod to computer, select the songs and sync with your iPod.

  • I have an old ipod with all my songs and want them on a new iphone with a new apple id

hi i have an old ipod which is on an old apple id but i want to get all my songs back off it so i can put them on my iphone help

All of the content should be in iTunes on the computer.
Simply connect the device to iTunes.
Select what you want to sync, then sync.
Do not create new Apple ID's for new devices.  Content is permanently tied to the Apple ID it was acquired with.
