HT204053 Unsupported Apple ID

Setting up iCloud for the first time on my iPhone. States I have an Unsupported Apple ID. I have used this Apple ID for several years with the Apple Store and iTunes. When I got to the iCloud web site, I cannot log on as it is telling me I first must set up iCloud from my device. How do I fix this error? I am running the latest software on all my devices and computers.

Just login the https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and change your Apple Id's Password, and if you receive any such Emails in future do not provide your Personal Details and report the same to Apple Immediately.

"Unsupported Apple ID" error when I try to activate iCloud on my iPad.

I get an "Unsupported Apple ID" error stating my Apple ID cannot be used to sign in to iCloud when I try to activate it on my iPad. Any ideas why my Apple ID wouldn't work?

I think the feature has been disabled by the Enterprise Software installed on the devices (I use both devices for my work). I will reconfirm it though.

Okay, so I foolishly updated to OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 the moment it was released into the wild on April 9, 2015. This is the rude welcome I get when I try to sign into iCloud in System Preferences > iCloud:
Unsupported Apple ID
This Apple ID cannot be used to sing in to iCloud.
Create a new Apple ID or sign in with a different one.
I have done absolutely no changes to my user settings.
Please help!

HT204053 A long time ago I created a Apple ID for my iPod's and I guess the ID's were not part of an email address. The other day I wanted to backup my apps from iPhone on iCloud, but get the following "Unsupported Apple ID" Can I merge apps?

I have 2 years worth of apps/songs downloaded from iTunes with a user ID that isn't part of a valid email address, how can I merge thats apps/songs with a new valid and iCloud supported ID? I hate to think of starting all over a new purchase history in order to use iCloud system.

HT204053 The Apple ID I use for iTunes is not an email address. When I try to set up iCloud, it says the Apple ID has to be an email address. When I put in the email address associated with my Apple ID, it says it isn't valid.

The ID works for everything else on my phone - why won't it work for iCloud? And if iCloud requires an email address, why isn't it simply required that my Apple ID be an email address? Those are largely rhetorical, since I don't expect anyone from Apple to actually explain it to me, but what do I need to do? Do I have to change the Apple ID I've had for years to an email address and then reset my phone to use that? Surely there's a simpler way.

Having signed out as suggested above, go to http://appleid.apple.com and create a new Apple ID if you don't already have one. You will need a working email address which is different from that in the ID already in use.

You wouldn't have to use the same iCloud ID to both use Find My iPhone, you would just have to sign into the iCloud account on the Find My iPhone app that the device you are trying to loacate is using. Sharing the same iCloud account is usually not recommended because when you do this, any data you sync with the account is merged and you will end up with each other's data on your devices. Also, any actions taken on one device (such as adding contacts or calendar events) will be replicated on the other. You would also be sharing the same 5 GB of iCloud storage for your data and backups rather than each having your own.
If you want to do this anyway, start by deciding which device will be keeping the current iCloud account. On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iDevice. Next, sign into the other account, turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account and merge it with the data that is already there.

I want to create separate apple ID's for my children. Can they still download apps and music that are under my ID?
I want them to be able to use FaceTime or iMessage but do not want them knowing my password so they don't accidentally download apps/games that end up costing money. They only live with me half-time. I was not able to find answers to this in the support section. Thanks.

If she logs into icloud using your ID and password, then she'll be connected to the same icloud account. But this is usually not advised, since if she does connect to your account, she and you will get the same emails, have the same calendars and contacts, same notes, etc. If she happens to delete a contact (one that is important to you), then you will lose it as well. Is this what you want?
The real question is why would you want to have her use the same icloud account? If on the other hand, you want her to use the same ID for the itunes account (which is not the same as an icloud account), then yes, that's a good idea, if you want her to be able to download the same apps and songs, etc. without buying them again.

I have an iphone & an ipod. I use the same Apple ID for both to stay "in sync". The iphone is not currently activated on a cellular network - i just use it on wifi. Is it possible to facetime between the 2 devices? Let's say my daughter is using the ipod and wants to facetime me on my iphone. If yes, how, since they have the same Apple ID?

Hello everyone,
I am in the process of trying to make the switch to iCloud for all my email, calendar, contacts and other needs from Google. I was using a Google account linked to my own domain but since Google has now disabled Exchange email for new devices I decided to make the switch to iCloud for all my services.
I have several issues now with this process and am unable to find solutions in Apple's support pages.
1. I created an @icloud.com email address to allow use of some iCloud services with my previous Google email Apple ID ([email protected]), I had no intention of using this for email so it's an address I don't want. I've created a new email alias in my iCloud account with an email address I would like to use but I want to remove all trace of the original unwanted email address. Is this possible? This original email is also listed as my 'Alternate Apple ID' which I don't want. Basically, I have an iCloud email address with '[email protected]' and want it to be the only email address associated with the account.
2. I want to change my Apple ID email address to my new '[email protected]' email alias but I am told it can't be an email address associated with an Apple-owned domain. Is there any way around this? It seems strange that in order to use Apple services I must have an email account with someone else.

Slight update:
1. Basically I would like my new '[email protected]' alias email to be the primary email address for my 'Alternative Apple ID' and the only email address associated with this alternative ID. It's not so critical to change my Main Apple ID as long as I can edit the address of the alternative one associated with iCloud.

is No. if you want to aggregate ce interfaces you have to use Sun Trunking. If you want to do dladm a.k.a. native link aggregation, you need a GLDv3 interface such as e1000g, bge, xge (per the IP services guide)
IPMP active active gives you a primitive outbound load spreading, I say primitive b/c there are no configurable options.
With link aggregation/Sun Trunking, you can chose among particular policies (L2, L3, L4) that allow you some control over the outbound traffic spread (and only outbound can be controlled. Inbound is controlled by the link partner). dladm(1M) options section explains these policies, what they mean and how to use them. But of course you would need a GLDv3 interface first.

No, each account requires its own Apple ID. Why is it that you do not wish to have separate iCloud accounts, this is generally the best way of doing things.

When I set up my iPad some time ago I entered an Apple id, (e.g. xxx@ me.com) but subsequently I set up a different Apple id and password for ITunes store on my Mac and iPad. How can I change the Apple id in my iCloud Account ?

You can create a new icloud account using the new ID. Just log out of the old ID and new log into icloud with the newer ID/password. This will create a new icloud account - with no data as yet.
If you want to keep the old icloud account but change the primary email ID, you can't. Why not use the newer ID for itunes as you have done and keep using the old ID for icloud?
If you'd like to use the new icloud ID, then you could move data from old account to the new one...
When connected to the account you want to GET data from, Go to Settings>iCloud and turn all data that is syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.
When prompted choose to keep the data on the iPhone.
After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID and turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to this new account.
Note that this only affects the "Apple data" like contacts, calendars, reminders, etc. Many third party apps also use iCloud to store data files there. These files may be lost in the process, unless the apps also keep the data locally on the device.
NOTE: Photos in the photo stream (if you use it) will not transfer to the new account. It is advised that you save the photos to a computer before performing the account switch.
