HT204053 what operating system is needed for icloud

I have an older operating system and wanted to know if Snow Leopard was needed for current versions of ICloud. If so, what would be the best way to get the Snow Leopard Operating System?

Snow Leopard is not compatible with iCloud except that you can set up Mail to access the emails on an existing iCloud account. You can also do this on Leopard or Tiger.
The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.2 and iOS5.

  • What operating system is needed for mac to download Illustrator? I am currently running OS X 10.6.8

I just bought the single creative cloud for illustrator and when I try to download it says it doesn't support my operating system. I have a macbook running OS X 10.6.8..... What do I need to do to download the program? I have enough space as well so that can't be it.

If it is a CC version of Illustrator then your 10.6.8 system will be the problem...

  • What operating systems is recommende for PDA device and for laptop?

    Hi Gurus,
What operating system and which version is best for  run the SAP MI applications in PDA and in the laptop?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dharani

    Hi,
if you run MI on Laptop. it is necessary to have Java vailable. so any OS with Java should work, Windows XP is recommended. Vista will work as well in latest versions of MI. On PDA: use WinCE operating System. In latest version of MI WinCE 6.0 Professional is supported - not the MobilePhone version, only the PDA Version.
See MI PAM for more and uptodate details.

  • What operating system is required for Logic Pro 9?

Just bought a Mac Pro with 10.7.5 Lion already installed. I want to know If I need to change the operating system to support Apple Logic Pro 9?
I have'nt bought Logic Pro 9 yet, but I bought Pro Tools 10 and would like to have both Logic and Pro Tools on the same computer. There both picky about
which operating system to use. Which operating system would support both?

I think sticking with Lion 10.7x is your best bet, you will find easier going with both Protools & Logic. Some report problems with Mountain Lion and Logic.
Check and make sure you don't need the 10.7.5 supplemental update, if you do, INSTALL it otherwise Logic won't recognize some AU plugins.

  • Java 17 what operating system is it for

    Hi
Can anyone tell me what OS is java 17 for
    Thanks
    dave

    Hi baltwo
I have found the answer thanks for replying.
Incidentally I have a supposedly vintage imac, 2008 24" OS X snow leopard 10.6.8. I like snow leopard, but for internet security should I upgrade to mavericks, which I don't like as much. Am I still secure with snow leopard?
Eventually the software is going to be more powerful than my computer, what do most people do in this instance?
    Thanks

I would like to take excel classes / tutorials (intermediate to advanced) and practice on this computer. Could someone clarify, what software and operating system is needed? Can I just use numbers? Do I need to download Excel for Macs and use Camp Boot?

Numbers is a joke compared to Excel. If I were you I would find a class/tutorial first, find out what they use (and it won't be Numbers) and see if you need the Mac or Windows version of Excel. Note that Excel is not sold as a seperate product from the Microsoft Office suites.

    TIA,
    John.

Not sure what's not working for you with the AirPort Management Utility, but the following Apple article describes some missing functionality with OS X 10.2.x clients. (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107940)

  • What operating system will i need to restore my macbook?

I have the Februrary 2008 macbook. I bought it about a week ago off someone on gumtree. It hadn't been restored so i figured the grey installation ones would work. After erasing the content on the hard drive i inserted disk 1. After then selecting what language it popped up saying 'OS X cannot be installed on this computer.' After looking at the grey disk again it said 2007 so i'm guessing it was the wrong one. Anyway i was wondering if i just buy an operating system off Apple would i be able to install it correctly? Basically i can't access my macbook and i have no clue what operating system to buy because i'm new to mac. Thanks for the help!

Phone Apple and order replacement original disks; if you want, you can buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store instead, but won't get iLife or the Apple Hardware Test.

If you are running 10.6.8 you can download 10.9 from the App Store and install it with going through 10.7 and 10.8 first. 10.9 Mavericks is a free download in the App Store.
10.9 Mavericks will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.9 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Mavericks doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mavericks.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

  • Windows 8 FAQ: After upgrading, what Operating System will I have after Windows 8 Repair?

    Question:
Once I upgrade to Windows 8, if I need to send my PC back to HP for hardware repair, what operating system will be running on my system?
    Answer:
For most repairs, the PC will be returned with the Windows 8 operating system intact.  However, if the system repair requires, for example, a new PC hard drive, then a re-image of the PC will be required, and the original shipping operating system will be re-installed

    Josejanko,
You don't supply much info other than your machine is old, so here is some info for you to check thru.
Before doing anything you should have a back up, preferably 2, in the event something goes wrong.
You would have to start by upgrading to Snow Leopard, you would need to buy the disk for about $20 here  http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Check the the requirements to see if your machine meets them.
You would then need to run the 10.6.8 v1.1 combo update to get it to 10.6.8 Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
You can then access the APP STORE and possibly upgrade to to further OSX.
You may have applications that will not be compatible with any thing past Snow Leopard, you can check those here Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta!
    http://roaringapps.com/apps
Office 2008 will not work with anything newer than Snow Leopard for an wxample
You may be able to upgrade to Lion or MT Lion or Yosemite, depending on your machine, from the APP STORE.
