I lost a big part of my previous purchased ( strangely, not all of it ) My old Apple Id does not work.
Some of my purchased made it to my new but when I synced my Iphone to my itunes, most dissapeared.
I still see it as purchased when i go on Itunes, but get seem to get it back on my library .
Library who also never seem to take my music for my phone. I followed all the steps and my computer is authorized on does recongnize my phone and what's on it, but I can't change the selection that goes on my phone or not, and as mentionned, some purchased seem lost

If you want to transfer music from your phone to itunes, plug in your iphone to itunes and hit file at the top of the screen. then go down to devices where a submenu will appear. hit transfer purchases and then itunes will start a new sync. As for just downloading your old music from the purchased menu in itunes, just go to the purchased menu and re-download it.

A new version shouldn't do that but it does seem to happen on occasion to a few unlucky ones. Restore your library from the backup you make of your computer before you install new software. If you don't have one, this is a learning experience.
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

It won't show on iCloud because iCloud is associated with a specific Apple ID. The music should be on your computer's iTunes and a Sync will put it on the iPad (be sure to configure iTunes properly). If you want to get it from iCloud, I think that you need to temporarily change your ID back to the old one but I've never done that myself.

Media and apps are not part of the backup. They need to be re-synced from your itunes library or re-downloaded from the store.

From the App Store meny bar click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads
And check your Applications folder for the app.

Media should be included with the backup of the computer that all users should be creating on a regular basis as part of basic computer/data maintenance.
In the event that you do not have a backup (stop being lazy.... keep backups of YOUR data and other important files)
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, it is possible to redownload music via iCloud from purchased history.
If you are not in the US or for some reason cannot run iTunes 10.3 or later, contact iTunes customer support and ask very nicely for the opportunity to redownload the content. They are not required to provide this opportunity.
It is also possible to transfer content from an iDevice that was purchased via iTunes. On the new computer, sign into the iTunes account, authorize the computer, connect the device then select File > Transfer Purchases.
The simplest method of all is to transfer or copy the media (and other important files) from the old computer or the backup of the old computer. Typing "move itunes library" into the search bar here or into google will reveal step by step instructions on how to do this.

I download and install the latest iTunes 64 bit. I log in and can't find my music?

Olp PC crashed, new PC now how do I get my music back?

Have new PC now. Saved all folders from old PC HDD. Will install iTunes 7.6 on new PC but how should I get my music back from the old PC's HDD? My iPod contains music purchased from iTunes, plus music from alot of CD's I own. WOuld like to recover music from my old HDD rather than synching from iPod (which I don't know how to do anyway!)

Yes, just delete the duplicates but make sure to keep at least one copy!
Actually it might be easiest to start over - totally clear your library, and make sure this copy setting is turned off

Unless you subscribe to iTunes Match , Apple does not keep a backup of your iTunes library. Even then it is not the library as it exists on your computer, but some version of the media, and only media files, not playlists. Even then not all media are definitely available since anything removed from the iTunes Store since you purchased it is not available for re-download.

In your case it sounds like you will have to obtain non iTunes purchases from their original source or a backup you may have made at some time in the past.

I enabled the backup, but when i went to use the backup, the phone recovered everything except the music.

Of course your music was lost - unless you uncheck sync music, you're syncing with another music library. You'll have to sync your phone with the other/original computer to the music back.
