Lithium polymer batteries need to be exercised, i.e. one power cycle per month. By not charging yours for that long it most likely is dead. I believe a battery replacement through Apple in the US is $75.

All I can say is that I REALLY like my Touch 4th gen because I have all sorts of capabilities in a small form: e-mail, web browsing, news, weather, books, magazines, etc. etc. Plus lots and lots of apps out there, including so many free ones. I use the Cloud a lot so it's great to have everything sync'd to my MacBookPro (e-mail, Evernote, Pocket, etc.)
It would be easier, though, to do some of this, especially magazines, on the iPad mini, but, again, I love the small size of the Touch.
As for the 5th gen instead of the 4th, the fifth has Siri and the 3D feature in maps, which are great. And I'm sure it's a lot faster in iOS 6 than the 4th gen. And cool colors!

when you have the same issue after the SMC reset:
put new batteries in the MM (even if the others are not empty), turn Bluetooth off then on again on the MBA, take all USB connections out (if any), delete the pairing of the MM and re pair the MM.

You have to add another email address on one of the two devices that you can use as the "You can be reached for FaceTime at" contact address and then remove/uncheck the Apple ID email address as the contact address on that device. The way you are currently setup is like to trying to call yourself on your on phone - from your own phone.
Using the iPad as the example go to Settings>FaceTime>You can be reached for FaceTime at>Add another email address. Then add a working email address in the next window. Apple will verify the email. Go to the inbox of that email account, read and respond to Apple's email in order to complete the verification process.
Go back to Settings>FaceTime>Uncheck the Apple ID email address and make sure that the new email address is checked/selected (you will see it being verified again) and that new email address will be your contact address for the iPad.

Is your device recognized by your computer? If yes, copy the pictures and videos as shown in this article:
Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer
If it is not recognized, try this first: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
Disable autosync in iTunes, right click on it in the device list and choose "transfer purchases" to copy apps and other media bought in iTunes to your new library.
Do the same again and choose "backup", to create a manual backup without syncing.
Since your device will be erased due to the new iTunes library during the first sync, you can use this backup afterwards to restore your settings and data.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer before you start, to be able to merge calendars and contacts.

I have the previous ipod nano model, the buttons won't work on it anymore though. Volume and to turn it on. Is it possible to fix that or somehow return it to be fixed?

I had an app on my old iphone 3G called Trainer Lite which was similar to the Couch to 5K program/app and I want to be able to put that on my nano if I get one. The Nike+ app that comes on the nano is basically just a way to log your workouts but doesn't do the same kind of training for a new runner that these other apps do, such as prompting when to run and when to walk, etc. through each running session. So can anyone tell me whether the newest version of that Nano allows the addition of new apps such as this? I've asked a number of people at my local Best Buy store and have gotten different answers each time which is very frustrating and there is not an Apple store close to me. I tried calling their customer service but without a serial number I couldn't get through to talk to an actual person to ask this question. I'd appreciate any help on this. Thanks!

Ok so do you know more info about the Nike+ app that it comes with? From what I've been told it's basically just a tracking app for running and other workouts to keep track of time, distance, heartrate, etc. but does not do any kind of "training" for beginning runners and such. Is that true or am I misinformed?
