Stopping the download isn't going to do a **** difference. It's already paid for even before it starts to download.
You may be able to try if you ask niceley and haven't abused anything...

When you purchase an HD video on a supported device or computer, only HD video will be downloaded. To download the SD version, you need to download the video again from your Purchased page. Conversely, if you purchase an HD video on an unsupported device, the SD version will be downloaded. Then, you will need to download the HD version from your Purchased page. Depending on where the iPhone was purchased, you may be able to
return it for $/credit and then buy the color you prefer. If past the
return window the seller allows, use a case like Briansyddall suggested above.

Not sure what you're looking for here... Apple won't give you more than 10% off a new iPod for it on their recycle program. I have to think selling it is a better option for you. If you're uncomfortable with ebay, there are other options available, but this isn't really the place for that discussion.

Is there a way to protect the download list and/or history so they can't be cleared/deleted?

I use the same computer as the rest of my family. Although I am ostensibly the administrator I use the family logon for normal use. I ask the rest of my family to not clear the download list because I like to keep track of what's been downloaded in case something with a virus or something like that is downloaded. I also like to keep track of the web sites my children access, so I would like to keep the History as well. Unfortunately, my oldest has learned how to delete history that she doesn't want me to see. Is there something in Firefox, or Mozilla in general, that can allow me to keep the things and if so how would I proceed?

You can't prevent people from deleting the history and other personal (private) data in Firefox and a log elsewhere will always work even if other browser would be used.

Is there any way of cancelling a broadband order on the grounds of unreasonable delay in fulfillment? I've moved house and office I was told that my phone number would be moved and my broadband set up within two weeks - that is, one week after moving. This was just about acceptable since moving is always chaotic and friends, clients and colleagues expect it. But I run my business from home and I have been told today (19 Jan) that I will have to wait another week.This is unacceptable to me if I can find an alernative supplier who will set me up within the next few days.

Bear in mind, its Openreach that do any provision works for all service providers, so cancelling and changing providers, would send you to the bottom of the queue.
Broadband provision cannot take place until there is a working telephone line. Once that is in place, then there will be a delay until the broadband task can be completed, depending on how busy Openreach are.

My iTunes match has just automatically renewed even though I'm about 90% sure that I deactivated it when I reinstalled iTunes due to the fact that iTunes match would make it crash every time...
I really can't justify spending £20 on something that I'm never going to use and I think it's kind of naughty of Apple not to send me an email before. I can't really say that I'm surprised with the way I've been treated as a customer since I got my iPhone.
But yeah, is there any way to cancel it and get a refund AFTER the renewal or is that completely unheard of?

You can always try contacting iTunes support and seeing if they will reverse the transaction. I would think that iTunes Match would show up on the Report a Problem page. Note: it's at the support agent's discretion on whether they'll issue a refund since the store policy is that all sales are final.

If you really moved it to the Trash and emptied the Trash, your best option is to restore the iPhoto library from your backup.
But if you did not actually trash the library and it is just missing, search for it with Find Any File as described by Old Toad in this post: Re: iPhoto Library is missing. What do I do?
If you don't have a backup and cannot find the library, you will need to buy recovery software to find the photos, but that will not restore the library.

The 2006 MacBook has firewire. Use a cable like this. Boot the '06 with the T key held down until you see the Firewire icon. Connect the 400 port on the '06 to the 800 port on the i7. Run Migration Assistant. 400 GB will still take a long time, but it will be closer to 8 hours I think.
