HT204150 contacts on my mac lost most of their data since mountain lion

Hello:
It seems as if since upgrading to mountain lion many of the contacts in Contacts (used to be Address Book) on my mac are lacking most of the information. In fact only the name remains while the rest of the informaton is missing (regardless if I look in the "iCloud" section or the "On My Mac" section. All contacts seem to be full on iCloud and my iPhone.
I tried several methods to resolve the issue but with no success.
I consider the information on my mac to be the original information and info on iCloud and iPhone to be a copy. I use elaborate backups on the mac to keep my information. However, if the mac corrupts this information what use is to the backups I make?
Please help,
Joshua

FWIW, your curious font choice makes the post indecipherable. Sorry about your loss, but since these are the ML forums, I've asked for it to be moved to the Lion forums. BTW, I can't help with your issue, since I don't do cloudy or iTunes music or movie stuff.

  • Back to my mac screen sharing no longer works since Mountain Lion release, even on Lion

I've used screen sharing via iCloud and back to my mac between a 2007 macbook and a 2010 imac.  Both computers are still on Lion but screen sharing stopped working when Mountain Lion was released.  I've read a number of comments on this forum that people were having trouble since upgrading to Mountain Lion, but I don't think that's the problem b/c I haven't upgraded either machine.  I think the problem is something Apple did in preparation for the Mountain Lion release date and it seems to have damaged screen sharing functionality.  Anybody else experiencing this or have a fix for it.
As for the specifics, I can still see my "other" machine under shared and can click "share screen," it usually searches for a couple minutes, then pops up the password dialogue box, but then searches for a while and eventually the password box closes, "screen sharing" stays open, but there are no windows associated with it.

I have the same problem, just today (although I'm still running 10.6.8). Every morning I turn on my main Logic mac then fire up my 2 slave macs, connect to them, activate Screen Sharing, and get going.
This morning I tried it, connected to the other macs as usual (I can see/access/alter their hard drives from my main mac) but when I click "Share Screen" I just get the "connecting" dialog box & it just keeps going.
The weird thing is, when I put my laptop into the network via wifi, I can screenshare my main mac's screen (all 3 of them, actually!)  but not my 2 slave macs that are ethernet'd to the main mac.
I've tried every solution I could find via google, and nothing is working.

  • I have installed the most recent version of Snow Leopard on my MAC, and I am trying to install Mountain Lion from the Apple Store.  It will not install, because it says I do not have 2GB of memory, even though I have over 200GB available.  Please help.

I have installed the most recent version of Snow Leopard on my MAC, and I am trying to install Mountain Lion from the Apple Store.  It will not install, because it says I do not have 2GB of memory, even though I have over 200GB available.  Please help.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
First of all, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there

  • Is there an application like "snag it" for mac?  Does it come with the Mountain Lion OS, or do I have to buy it separately?

Is there an application like "snag it", which is part of the Microsoft Office suite for mac?  Does it come with the Mountain Lion OS, or do I have to buy it separately?  If it is a separate purchse, what would you recommend?

Built-in to OS X is the ability to capture an entire screen or selected portions. Snaps are saved to the Desktop by default:
    COMMAND-SPACE-3 snaps the entire screen.
COMMAND-SPACE-4 lets you select a portion of the screen to snap.
In your Utilities folder is a utility called Grab that provides similar functionality and more.
Then there are dozens of third-party solutions such as SnapNDrag and SnapzProX. You will find them and others at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads. Most have trial versions or trial times so you can test them out.

  • Downloading mountain lion damaged my hard disc. I took my Mac Pro to apple book store. They are unable to repair it and suggest I purchase a new hard disc for $160. It was a perfectly functioning Mac Pro that got damaged by downloading mountain lion.

Software upgrades do not generally damage hardware; your drive's failure must be co-incidental. On most MBP's, a hard drive is very easily replaced by a user. You might want to check out this site for both hard drives as well as install videos (check which model you have so you can check the correct video):
    http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/
    hard drives:

I just recently upgraded my MBP with an SSD; I purchased an kit with an external enclosure from OWC and cloned the current drive to the new one, installed the new drive and was done in no time.

  • Is it recommended to upgrade Mac OS x 10.5.8 to mountain lion or snow lepord

Is it recommended to upgrade Mac OS X 10.5.8 to mountain lion or snow leopard?

I think that Snow Leopard is a definite yes.  It is the most efficient OS from Apple.
Mt. Lion if there are features that you really want, then do it.
Check the requirements for the respective OS's to see if your Mac qualifies:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
Note:  If you decide you want Mt. Lion it will require that you install Snow Leopard and update it to 10.6.8.
A Snow Leopard disk may be ordered from the Apple online store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    Ciao.

Will upgrading of the GPU do the trick?

  • I accidentally deleted the Reminders only on mac section in the reminders.app on mountain lion. How do I get it back?

I accidentally deleted the Reminders only on mac section in the reminders.app on mountain lion. How do I get it back?
I checked @ http://www.apple.com/osx/whats-new/features.html#reminders and it says under Multi Accounts: "Reminders works with CalDAV services like Google Calendar and Yahoo! Calendar. You can also create reminders that appear only on your Mac."

Quit Safai (double tap the home button, hold the app icon until it wiggles, tap , double tap the home button gain)
Settings > iCloud > Turn off Safari > Delete from phone then turn Safari back on

  • Calendar and Contacts won't sync between my iPad (ios6) and iMac (mountain lion). I've trolled forums looking for fixes but nothing is working so far. Any ideas?

Not really sure where this question should go, since it crosses 3 topic areas. Neither my contacts nor my calendar will sync from iMac (mountain lion) to iPad 3 (ios6). I've tried a byzantine series of fixes - mostly involving backing up each, turning off cloud syncing, turning it back on, with lots of little steps in between (I'd be more detailed, but I gave up for several weeks and don't really remember them). Is this a real issue, or am I missing something simple? It's extremely frustrating to have what is advertised as basic functionality not work even a little bit. Especially when 3rd party apps sync just fine. Any help would be much appreciated.

Never mind... It was indeed something simple that I missed (my icloud account was attached to an apple ID I didn't even know existed -- created for me?? ... fixed it - settings, icloud, sign out, signed back in as my actual apple ID).
