HT204204 iPad no vga

SSince up dating iOS no VGA from the dock connector. I went to the Apple Store and they confirmed it is a bug in the new iOS. I will have to wait until apple does a fix

I Have the genuine apple connector and the store even used one of there new ones. No VGA signal. There is a serious problem not being able to get a VGA signal. There is a lot of schools and equipment that only have VGA  and the presenter can not access this older equipment, I can use my HDMI and wireless to communicate but with older equipment that has not upgraded because money issues they are out to lunch.

  • IPad 1 - VGA cable not outputting to projector, monitor or TV?

I recently purchased the apple VGA cable so that i could project powerpoint presentations using my iPad 1. I have no success at all using any applications to make this work. Slideshark, Keynote etc.
I had read that only video streaming is supported, however, i cannot get Youtube or any other content to show up. The cable works fine with my iPhone 4S.
Is there a setting I need to adjust on my iPad? When I plug it into a computer monitor, projector, or TV it seems to detect a signal but the screen stays black.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Aleks

Thanks all... of course after I posted the query, I decided to do a forum search and found that this was not a unique question...in fact the VGA connector for the iPad1 is about useless. I did do a Slideshow and the images DID display on the external monitor. So the system does work, albeit with some decided limitations.
Well, not a reason to get an iPad2 yet, this was an experiment and not a regular requirement for me.
Still.... an odd decision by Apple to be so selective about what it allows to clone. And while they are at it, next time around, an extended desktop option would be really, really neat.

  • No video support with iPad lightning-VGA adapter (iOS 8.3)

Just subscribed to HBO NOW and bought a lightning-to-VGA adapter ($55!) to watch HBO on my computer monitor (no HDMI, only VGA) from my iPad mini. Worked fine on iOS 8.2, but then when upgraded to 8.3 I could no longer get video support. Still have iOS 8.2 on my iPod Touch, and when that device is connected to my computer monitor, I can watch HBO (and Netflix). So obviously 8.3 no longer supports video with a lightning-to-VGA adapter. Is Apple aware of this? Will there be a fix soon?

I had the same problem with an iPad Air 1 once I upgraded to ios 8.3. Following several suggestions online, I did the following:
    1. Via iTunes Store app, I logged out.
    2. Settings, General, Reset (all the way at the bottom), Reset all Settings (this doesn't remove any data/apps/etc, it just resets all the iPad settings.
    3. Did a Hard Reboot (hold down power and main button until iPad shuts off).
Once I turned it back on, now I could use the iPad via lightning adapter to watch video on a TV.

  • IPad to vga projector connection questions

My kids got me a 3rd gen ipad and an apple tv and I would like to do keynote presentations and display them on an older vga projector.  If it matters it would be in a place without internet.  The projector is ceiling mounted with a wall mounted vga connector that is hard wired to it.  I believe the projector can also function as a server for wireless presentations, but I don't know how to wirelessly connect that to the iPad.  To get it working either way would be great.  Any suggestions or  directions would be very appreciated.  Thanks.

Well I just now looked at the apple reviews of the mini display port to vga adapter to find that many people experience these things not working. Maybe the 3 I have are all dead. I never even thought that all the adapters I have might be defective. All other apple display adapters I have (that are are much older) still work. I have some display adapters that are probably 10 years old that still work great (mini dvi to dvi adapter crica 2004). Anyways I just ordered a new one and will report back after I have a chance to test it out.

  • IPad with VGA Adapter Problems

Does any one have any clue how to get the ipad to transmit video when hooked up to VGA (via its adapter). Yes all connections were fine, in keynote and presentation in play mode. Help urgently needed! THanks!!

    Hi Guys,
I don't know if someone mentioned this before but if you watch the iPad launch video of Steve Jobs' presentation it sure looked like he was mirroring his screen during the presentation.......I think that is why so many of us believed that the iPad WOULD be functioning the same way in are hands.
Sooooo either Steve and crew orchestrated a hoax by simulating a screen mirror functionality (which I do not believe) OR that functionality IS available and will be part of an OS upgrade in the future. I know, I know...if that were true why not just make the mirror capability immediately available? Who knows, but watching Jobs use the iPad on stage made me believe we could do the same.
I tried to use mine today with little luck. I hooked it up to a digital projector. I have successfully used this projector with my MACBook Air in the past. When I plugged in my iPad and turned it on the projector showed NO sign of recognizing my iPad. I opened Keynote to my slide presentation, still NO response. I re-checked the cable, still NO response. I exited Keynote; HOWEVER, I don't believe that I ever tried the full screen presentation mode so it may have worked. I will Try it again.
I then tried to play some movies. I had movies I ripped as well as iTunes downloaded movies. I first tried a movie I ripped.....amazingly the projector recognized something was attached for the first time and started playing the movie! Then I tried The Matrix (downloaded from iTunes). The projector would ONLY show a still from the movie and a message appeared on my iPad screen stating
"This machine is not authorized to play this content"
When I disconnected the cable the movie was able to play on my iPad....reconnect the VGA....the movie froze and the message reappeared.
I also agree that the connector is not that stable. Older iPod cables used to 'lock' in place and needed you to depress two buttons on the cable to remove it. That would be very handy here BUT it would increase the risk of damaging the unit if the cable were kicked.
    Thanks
    Joe

  • IPad/iPad 2 VGA Adapter

I have a VGA Adapter for the iPad and it only works when I plug it into an iPad 2. The iPad one does not ever get found by the projector. The Porjector supports 720p and 1080p. Are there two types of VGA adapters? Did I buy the wrong one? The Firmware for both iPads is 4.3.1

When you say iPad do you mean iPad1? The iPad1 with VGA connection does not mirror the iPad screen like it does for the iPad2. The iPad1 only displays out the VGA cable with apps that support VGA out. Also, what is display out the VGA cable does not mirror the iPad1's screen.

  • Ipad air VGA cable?

    Hi,
Just updated my iPad 2 to the new iPad air and of course all my old connectors are now useless!
Does anyone know if there is a cable I can use to hook my thunderbolt dock to a VGA??
    Many thanks

    It's lightning, not thunderbolt.

  • IPad 2, VGA adapter, iOS 6?

I need to use a projector in a meeting to have the participants view my iPad 2 screen. Looking at the description in the Apple store and the reviews posted there I have some questions that I hope someone can help me with.
    1. According to The Apple Store description the VGA adapter will allow mirroring of whatever is on the iPad 2 screen to the projector. Is this indeed the case.
    2. Several reviewers indicate the VGA adapter does not work with iOS 6. Anyone using the VGA adapter with iOS 6 successfully?
    Tanks,
    Ralph

Lats year, one of our execs using an iPad2 successfully connected to our Epson PowerLite 83C projector, but after upgrading to IOS 6, the iPad gives us an error message saying the connected accessory was not supported. We had an HP LCD projector available, and his iPad sucecssfully connected to that model the first time. It seems to be hit or miss depending on the make and model of the projector involved, but I thnk it's safe to say that the upgrade to IOS  6 was the reason the Epson is no longer recognized.

  • IPad 1 -  VGA adapter

I have the iPad 1 and would like to hook it up to a projector to view a ppt presention.  WIll the apple VGA adapter support this?

I have since confirmed that my iPad is sending video to the VGA Adapter as I have successfully connected an NEC MultiSync monitor to the output and it is displaying video.
Can anyone tell me what refresh rate that the iPad is using when output is from the iPad Dock connector to VGA Adapter? My television specs claim that it will handle
    1024x768 @ 60Hz
    1024x768 @ 70Hz
    1024x768 @ 75Hz
Yet, I'm not able to get the TV to detect the signal.
Since I believe this worked with this hardware in the past, is it possible that the output refresh could have changed?
    Thanks,
    Tom Evans

  • IPad 1 - VGA connector

I want to start using my iPad 1 to connect to a projector, will the VGA connector be alright? There have been some bad reviews about it.

I'm only goin to be using it for the likes of PowerPoint and work docs, does safari work with the VGA?
Safari does not output via the VGA connector. Other browsers, such as Expedition which Craig mentioned, may do so, however. Keynote also will do video output, but neither Pages nor Numbers will, so you'll have to look for other apps if you want to display Word or Excel documents.

  • Ipad 2 VGA - Mirroring?

    HI,
The main page for Ipad 2 features says the Ipad 2 will mirror with the VGA cable, but on the specific Mirroring Page it only mentions doing so with the HDMI cable. Does it mirror everything through the VGA cable?

I got my iPad2 hooked up to a VGA monitor earlier tonight, using the standard VGA adapter that Apple started supplying when the first iPad launched. Mirroring worked just great - no frame loss, and all features supporting including full view of SpringBoard (the home screen) and rotation.
I made a short demo video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PhPLz_WF2c
So, the conclusion here is that mirroring is a feature of the A5 chip inside the iPad2, and you don't specifically need the HDMI cable to make it work.
Hope this helps all the teachers and business professionals out there!
    Paul.

  • IPad 2 vga mirroring does not work.

Please help.  I've just bought an iPad 2 to use in my classroom.  I bought the iPad->VGA-out adapter.  I've hooked it up to an LCD projector, and no joy.  I have "widescreen" enabled under video settings.  I also have a colleague here with me at the workshop who has an iPad 2 and he plugs his in and it mirrors immediately.  I cannot get mine to mirror.  Do I have a crappy iPad or is there a setting hidden somewhere that I can't find?  He and I are banging our heads against this one.  Can't figure out why one iPad works and the other does not.  Any clues?

Is this the cable that you have?

  • Ipad 2 VGA no way to charge and do a presentation

As my presentations are for an entire day I need to charge during breaks because the VGA cable unlike the HDMI cable has no extra connector allowing charging while using adapter.  I saw some description on internet of someone adding a USB cale to the VGA adapter at the dock connector side and stating it works perfectly.  I am no good in doing such DIY jobs.  Why can't a solution be provided by apple???? Can anyone help with this issue?

    unlike the HDMI cable
You could try the HDMI cable & attach a hdmi to vga adapter to it.  You would still have the extra connector for power.

  • I want to use multiple iPads as external monitors from a PC using the iPad VGA adapter (wired)

I want to send a VGA signal to a couple of iPads using them as monitors. I currently use a pair of regular 13" VGA 1024x768 lcd monitors looping thru an LCD projector displaying the same signal sent to the projector.
I want to use the iPad VGA adapter and WIRE them in just like a convention LCD monitor. Yes there are apps like air display and others but they don't allow cloning and have latency issues and must be networked. I need an app to use the VGA adapter and actually wire them in using a VGA signal from my existing VGA distrubution amp.
The size of the iPad is perfect for my application however I cannot find an app to let me send a signal into the iPad via VGA adapter.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
