HT204264 Duplicates of edited photos appear in my iCloud Photo Library

For some reason, when I go to the iCloud website, there are duplicates of edited photos. Also some dates are wrong when imported from the Mac.

  • Can I organise photos into albums within iCloud Photo Library?

i Understand that edits / deletes etc in iCloud Photo Libary will be reflected on all my iOS devices but can I organise my photos into albums using iCloud photo library?
basically I want to take photos on my iPhone, review them on my iPad, delete the ones I don't want and keep the good ones in a relevant album (e.g. "Summer holiday 2014"). Then I want to be able to see identical albums on both my iPad and iPhone. From what I've seen so far, when I create an album and save a photo to it then that album is only local to that device?
    please help.

Are you saying it showed 800 photos before turning off iCloud photo library or that the 800 photos disappeared after you enabled iCloud photo library for the first time, the distinction is quite important.

  • When I tap a photo in my iPhone photo gallery, the photo appears but there is always a "this movie format not supported" alert and then the alert goes away and the photo appears. These are photos I've taken with the iPhone and aren't even movies.

It's very odd. I take photos with my iPhone and then later go to view the photos in the Photo Gallery on my iPhone. The photos to appear, but I keep getting "this movie format not supported" alerts, even though I am looking at photos taken by my iPhone. The alert appears briefly just after the photo appears and then the alert goes away and I can see the photo. They are just still photos and not movies. Why wouldn't the iPhone recognize the format of photos it is taking?

That thread helped for a time.  But now it seems as though my computer is back to slow again.  But, some of the jargon is over my head as well.  Not sure I knew quoite everything they were talking about.  But thanks a lot for that, it helped I probably just need to reread it and follow the instructions again.  Thanks so much.

  • Photos not uploading to iCloud photo library from PC

Hopefully I am not the only person with this problem, but it's driving me round the bend.
iCloud installed on PC and default folder Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream contains c1,800 photos
When I got to Favourites\iCloud Photos\My Photostream there are only 5 photos
When I try to manually add photos in the explorer window Favourites\iCloud Photos\My Photostream it seams to crash or just not update
When I visit iCloud.com there are only 489 photos and as others have described there is no upload button in the browser interface.
So in summary it doesn't upload from PC and I cant upload from the browser despite all pictures sitting in the right folder the syncing doesn't appear to work.
    Please, Please help!! :-)

  • ICloud Photos Disappeared after enabling iCloud Photo Library

    Hi,
I have quite a complicated problem.
About two weeks ago I bought a new iPhone 5S (now running iOS 8), to replace my ageing iPhone 5.
All my photos were backed up on the iPhone 5, and then restored onto my 5S.
Recently, when I enabled iCloud photo library (Beta) on my 5S, all of my photos from a period of time (January to October this year) became grey thumbnails on my iPhone. When I looked at an individual photo, a message: 'loading' was where the photo should have been.
The loss of all of these photos is seriously troubling for me, and anyone who can give me a solution to this problem will receive huge respect from me.

    Hi goblue123,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that some of your older photos appear to have been removed from your iPhone after turning on iCloud Photo Library beta. Please read over the attached article for why this may have happened. If the photos are still on your computer, you can sync them back to your iPhone.
iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
What if some of my photos are missing after I turn on iCloud Photo Library?
iCloud Photo Library won't upload lower resolution photos and videos synced to your device from iTunes. You can use these steps to move the photos from your computer to your iOS device.
    Best regards,
    Joe

  • Photos not uploading to iCloud Photo Library

My issue is with iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.3). Works fine for a few days, then gets stuck and won't upload anything to iCloud, which in turn won't show up in the Photos app on my Mac (OS X 10.3.3). Currently it's been stuck on "4 Photos to Upload" for a over a day now. This happened last week as well and I had to shut off iCloud Photo Library and turn back on. It eventually worked, but that was a long painful process because I have 80GB of photos.
It's not a wifi issue either, and I've rebooted the phone as well. I've been on 2 separate very fast internet connections and only used half the space on my 200 GB iCloud plan. I've edited a few photos with Snapseed and Camera+ using extensions – could it be a corrupt photo using a 3rd party app causing the problem?
When iCloud Photo Library works, it's great, but this is the 2nd time in 2 weeks to hang during upload. I wish there was a way to refresh it or force it to upload without turning the whole thing off and on. Anyone else having this issue?

  • Aperture photos not syncing to iCloud Photo Library

I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1 and a recent MacBook Pro with Yosemite. I've done everything to turn on iCloud Photo Library and iCloud Drive and I have plenty of iCloud storage capacity.  However, the iCloud Photo Library is only showing unedited photos taken on the iPhone.  No photos stored in either iPhoto or Aperture on my Mac are showing up in the iCloud Photo Library.  I thought this was supposed to be the way you could store all your photos from any device in edited form.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

I have iCloud Photo Library switched on in my iPhone 5 and iPad 4 and photos are still importing into Aperture in the Photo Stream Projects. It seems that as far as Aperture is concerned, nothing has changed. Running Yosemite 10.10.1 and iOS 8.1.1
Yes, the mobile devices will still be streaming with My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Streams to all devices, also to iPhoto or Aperture.  The upload from the macs to the mobile devices will no longer work, however.
If you enable "iCloud Photo Library (Beta)", "My Photo Stream" does no longer upload from Aperture or iPhoto. Try it please, and tell us, if it still works for you. There have been many reports, does Aperture can no longer upload to iOS8 devices, if they are using Cloud Photo Library (Beta).
And iTunes Photo Sync will be disabled as well. So the web interface will be the only access to the iCloud photo library from your Mac. Your Mac will only show you the images in the Photo Streams. To see your iCloud Photo Library (Beta) use the Photos.app on the iCloud webpage.

  • Upload photos from pc to icloud photo library

I'm trying to figure out how to upload all of my photos that are on my PC into icloud photo library.while preserving my folder structure. I've spend about an hour or two a day on this for the past 2 months and I've gotten nowhere. I need to keep my photos in my folders/albums because many albums contain photos that were taken in many different locations at many different times but are related to each other.
So far it seems that Apple wants you taking pictures with only your ipad/iphone and not a DSLR camera. The old way of itunes syncing my photos onto my ipad and iphone was working fine but I love the idea of the icloud photo library. I just can't figure out how to get it to work.
Here's what I've boiled it down to:
    - I'm using a Windows 7 pc
    - I create an album on my ipad (I can't figure out how to create an album on icloud.com)
    - I open the empty album on icloud.com (using either Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Safari)
    - in the empty box in the middle of the screen it says "...upload photos by dragging them here"
    - the photos upload into All Photos, not into the Album
Can anyone help me? It seems so simple but I just can't figure it out. You may be thinking that I could just move the photos from all photos into the Albums but I need to do this for about 15,000 photos.
Another option seems to be to just use a service like Flickr to manage my photos but I like the idea of having all of my photos accessible when I'm not connected to the internet.

I have this problem too. Photo stream works fine on iPhone+iPad, but the photos are never loaded to my PC (Win 8.1). My shared folders works fine on iOS and PC, but not My photo stram.
In the beginning, a couple of years ago, it work, but not now (2014).
All iOS are updated, and PC-iCloud software/panel is Active, and Photo stream is activated.
    What to do??
Reset all streams on PC? I tried, no result.
I can understand that it takes time to reload all Pictures from iCload to my PC, but I wait Days, weeks...

  • Can I limit how much/many photos are stored in iCloud photos(beta)?

ex. my most recent 1500 photos/4GB etc.., to manage iCloud storage space just like the old iCloud photo stream had a limit? I'm just wondering if anyone has experience on this yet? I would assume there must be some type of allocation dedicated to backup and then to miscellaneous like photos, documents etc.. depending on whatever storage plan you have purchased. I cannot find any clear direction that would explain this? I have so many photos I don't want to be bumped up to a TB of space when I'm also saving them locally on my Mac.
    THANKS!

maybe I'm overthinking this one and I just need to offload pics to my local machine  when I reach a capacity/number of pictures I want to be accessible in the cloud?  Would love to know what exactly the features of the upcoming photos for Yosemite are, as that may answer my questions.

  • Photos not uploading to iCloud Photo Library from Photos beta

I have been trying for a couple of weeks now to upload photos from my Mac to the iCloud Photo Library using the new Photos beta. I have about 2,800 photos and the upload process just stalls with about 2,000 photos left to upload.
I've tried turning the upload on and off and rebuilding the library but nothing works. A couple of times when restarting the upload process I have received this error message:
Referenced files will not upload to iCloud Photo Library
Select referenced files in your library and choose “Consolidate” from the File menu to copy the original files into the library.
So I gather I'm supposed to select a few files and consolidate them, but I have no idea what the "referenced" files are.  Might anyone know?
    thanks!

  • Photos stopped uploading to iCloud Photo Library beta.  Any suggestions?

Yesterday I set up iCloud Photo library beta to upload my photos to iCloud.  Aft 40 photos uploaded it seems that the upload is stuck and won't upload any more photos.  I went to the iCloud photos beta site and the 40 or so photos that uploaded are there.

    Hi,
I had this exactly. My iPhone and iPad got stuck just moments after I enabled Icloud Photo Library.
I then plugged my ipad overnight to a charger and in the morning, it was all synced
So I plugged my iphone and it immediately started syncing the rest.
    Hope it helps someone

  • Deleting Photos from Device with iCloud Photo Library

How do I delete photos locally from my device when I'm using iCloud photo library? Whether I'm deleting from the Photos tab or Albums > All Photos, I see the same "this photo will be deleted from iCloud photo library on all devices" message. How can I delete the photo from my device, but keep it in the iCloud photo library? Currently, my photos tab and all photos album are exactly the same... whats the difference between these features? Thanks!

iCloud Photo Library is currently only for iOS devices, but it disables syncing with the Mac. It is simply not yet ready.
iCloud Photo Library is still a beta version. (See: iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ) The Mac part has not yet been released, but will be available early next year. We do not know yet, what the Mac part of iCloud Photo Library will be like. The Photos.app for Mac will be able to upload to iCloud Photo Library.  If you simply wait till early next year, it will be the easiest transit. Then you will be able to migrate iPhoto Libraries and Aperture Libraries to Photos and store the photos in iCloud.
Right now, if you enable iCloud Photo Library Beta on your mobile devices, the usual ways to upload photos from your Mac will be disabled. It will no longer deposable to sync photos with iTunes, and you cannot upload using My Photo Stream.
To upload photos from the Mac to iCloud Photo Library, mail the photos, put them in your DropBox, or use the uploader on the beta.cloud page (in the photos beta app):  https://beta.icloud.com

  • Initial sync of Photos from iPhone to iCloud Photo Library freezes

I had about 13,000 photos on a MacBook Pro (10.10.3) in iPhoto. Imported all to Photo, turned on Photo Library and they all transferred and synched to iCloud. Turned on iCloud Photo Library on two iPads (iOS 8.3) and one iPhone 6 and they synched just fine; all four devices now show the same set of photos and changes to any photo on any device are almost immediately reflected on all other devices. Very cool!. But my wife's iPhone 6 got about 15% of her photos synched to the cloud and then the upload/download process just stopped—that was about a week or so ago. I read Walt Mossberg's description of a similar problem he had (a "rare bug") when turning on iCloud Photo Library that required a special fix from Apple. Something to do with a photo having multiple copies on iCloud that caused the sync process to freeze. But I can't find any fixes for the problem except taking all photos off the phone and then synching, and then reloading the photos, but that sounds a bit scary.
Can anyone help? It's frustrating to have had the process work so well on four devices, only to have a fifth freeze. All are updated and all have similar settings.

  • Different photo appears when clicking on photo in album

I imported some photos into an album, original source was camera and photo stream.  On many, but not all of the photos in the album, when I click on it (say Photo A) a DIFFERENT photo (photo B) appears.  If a make the smallest edit to photo B then it appears correctly in the album.  This is mystifying !!

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window rebuild thumbnails - it might take a few times
