HT204264 iCloud library beta on iOS  and iPhoto on Mac Book Pro

I turned on iCloud library beta on my new Ipad Air 2 and my iPhone 5. Photo stream disappears as well as camera roll. All photos in the cloud are now in ALL PHOTOS on the Album page of the the iOS devices. I chose to keep the originals on my devices rather then optimizing space. I am not that trusting especially in beta form.
When photo stream was enabled, all new photos would be pushed to a monthly photo stream album in iPhoto on my mac book pro. Now what happens? How do  the new photos taken get to iPhoto on my mac book pro?

Restart the Mac again.
Next time:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Hello Teddy53149 and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
    Follow this procedure:
Change your OS X account name and home directory name - Apple Support
As they recommend and as always when you're messing with administrator accounts back everything up first.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

  • How to transfer photos from iphoto 09 on iMac to iphoto on Mac Book Pro

This is my first posting as I have tried unsuccessfully to find an answer to my query in the many answers to questions already posed.
I have an iMac and recently my girlfriend bought a Mac Book Pro. Whilst I have managed to transfer my music library to her Mac Book Pro using the new sharing facility in the latest version of iTunes, I have been unable to transfer the photos which I have on my Mac in iphoto 09.
Any help, advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in anticipation of your assistance.
    Best regards
EDIT: Just realised that I have posted this in iPhoto 08 instead of iPhoto 09 - I hope someone can still help!

Many thanks for your reply Terence
I understand what you mean, but would you be so kind as to explain how I should connect the machines. At first, I thought that some form of double ended USB may do it, but when I spoke to someone at work, they suggested a cross over ethernet cable.
    Your advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you once again

  • External Hard Drives and iTunes, on Mac Book Pro and PC?

If you transfer your iTunes library from PC to an external hard drive, can you use itunes, from the external hard drive when you plug it into Mac Book Pro?
    I'm very confused about this!
All my music is on PC and I want to save it to my external hard drive. But I will no longer be using that PC afterwards.
I would like to use itunes on my Mac but it only has 128 Gb, not enough storage for my iTunes library.
So, can you use your transfered itunes library from the PC to external drive on your Mac?
Another question I have is, when your itunes is on your external hardrive can you still sync, make playlists and add new songs?
I don't know very much about external hard drives, but I need the space.

No.  Likely the drive is presently formatted NTFS which is no good on a Mac unless you want to buy spcial software to enable it (given your scenario it is not worth it).  The best format for Mac use is MacExtended, but your PC cannot write files to that.  The intermediate solution is to reformat the drive to DOS FAT, but as I already said this isn't ideal.
If it were me I would:
    1) With the PC copy the entire iTunes folder to the current external, presumably formatted as NTFS.
    2) Buy the new second drive I know I will need for backing up both my computer and my old external drive.  Format it as Mac extended.  In the long run you want to configure this for use with Time Machine but I can't help you with that because I can't run TM.  For the time being you are using it to temporarily store files.
    3) Using the Mac make sure the new drive is formatted to Mac extended.
    4) On the Mac copy the entire iTunes folder from the old drive to the new.
    5) With the Mac reformat the old drive to Mac extended.
    6) With the Mac copy the entire iTunes folder from the new drive to the old one which is now in the Mac friendly format.  Start iTunes with the option key held down as described earlier.
Others may be able to help with some details on formatting drives because I use an older system.  I know with my system version when you reformat or partition you lose all files on a drive which is why you have to have somewhere to temporarily store your library. I think they did some changes but I am not sure of the details.

  • How to re-install iphoto in mac book pro

I have mac book pro, I used to have iphoto installed and today I can't use this application. I tried to reinstall it but not able to do that as it won't let me update new os. Currently I have 10.6.8 and tried to update to os 10.7.4 to reinstall iphoto .But unable update os 10.7.4 or any latest os.. Please advise me to get iphoto.
    Regards
    12tsuki

iPhoto does NOT come with the OS. It is a separate App. Yes it is included on every Mac when new.
Since you are running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 you got 2 DVDs witrh your system. One is for installing the operating system, OS X, and the other is for reinstalling the iLife Apps that come with every Mac.
So find your original system discs and the Applications disc in particular. Delete, "Move To Trash", the current iPhoto app then reinstall from that Applications disc. Then use Software update to update it to the most current version.

  • FC Pro and Motion on Mac Book Pro?

    Hi,
I am looking for speed, my aging G4 dual 500 just collapsed and I wonder if a 17" Mac Book Pro would do well with the suite. Of course a Mac Pro should be better, but I don't do much, and a book would serve me well for other purposes. I would use an external keyboard and my 22" Cinema with an adapter, as well as FW drives. My main concern is about the 2GB RAM limit which was already a problem on my G4. I also use CS2 a lot. Would what I have in mind be asking too much of this machine?

I hate to be there, but I have toured the Macintouch as well as the Apple forum for feedback on the MBP, and the least to say is that you better have good luck on you to take the risk to own a MBP (I whish this is not true though). What about a Powerbook of the last generation? Specifications mention that authoring HD DVDs requires a PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo processor, or Intel Xeon processor. This disqualifies the Powerbook G4, right?

  • Syncing iPhone and iPad with Mac Book Pro

Is it possible to sync my iPhone and iPad to my Mac Book Pro and have the same screens and apps? I see where all apps appear in my iPad syncing window, but I cannot make it exactly like my iPhone... Is this possible? Thank you!

    Hi Kristi,
Connect your iPad and your iPhone to your MBPro. Launch iTunes. Under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window you can select either device then select Apps from the menu.
You can drag home screens and rearrange apps right from that window. Very smart idea on your part to do that. That way it's the same (or close to) on both devices.

  • I would like to 'see and hear' my mac book pro output on my TV  how do I ?

I have a new Mac book Pro and I would like to 'see and hear' the Audio and video on my television. My tv has 2 audio phono RCA jacks on the side and 1 video RCA jack on the side. It also has a s-video as well on the side (I have never used s-video.) My Mac Book Pro came with a DVI to VGA little cable adapter but how do I use this to get to my TV inputs? Do I have to buy from Apple, (or somewhere else), that cable called DVI to Video Adapter? but then that is only for the video? How do I get the audio out? From the headphone socket? And if this is the only way why hasn't Apple made their DVI out socket a dual purpose output ie: Video AND audio, like the mini DVI for the G4 powerbooks? Please help. If anyone has also come across this problem. I want to see my timeline in FCP on the TV before I put it to tape. Thanks.
    Thanx

I have a new Mac book Pro and I would like to 'see

on the side (I have never used s-video.) My Mac Book
Pro came with a DVI to VGA little cable adapter but
how do I use this to get to my TV inputs? Do I have

You need a DVI or VGA to svideo adapter. They aren't cheap.
    but then that is only
for the video? How do I get the audio out? From the
    headphone socket?
    Yup.
And if this is the only way why
hasn't Apple made their DVI out socket a dual purpose
output ie: Video AND audio, like the mini DVI for the
    G4 powerbooks?
Because DVI carries only video. Apple is using a new video card in the MBP with different abilities.
Please help. If anyone has also come
across this problem. I want to see my timeline in FCP
on the TV before I put it to tape. Thanks.
Most people doing this are using TV's with DVI/HDMI inputs.

  • Wireless equipment and setup for Mac Book Pros

I've recently bought a Mac Book Pro after having used PC's since the 80's. Like it so much, I ordered a second machine for my wife.
Question: Using my Linksys wireless router used originally with our PC's, I've made several attempts to wireless network the two Macs using our same DSL connection but have failed each time.
Can someone tell me what I need in terms of equipment and also where to find the instructions to set up both Macs via the wireless mode.
    Apparently, I'm clueless.
    Thank you.
Mac Book Pro Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Your Macs should work with the same wireless equipment as your Windows PCs.
But, in my experience, there have been some problems with some versions of OS X and some versions wireless router firmware - specifically in the area of WPA wireless security.
The first thing I would try is reconfiguring the Linksys to run an open network, with no security. If the MacBook Pro is able to connect correctly, reconfigure the Linksys with a new SSID (wireless network name) and enable WEP security. If that works correctly, reconfigure the Linksys with a new SSID and WPA2 security.
I suggest using different SSID's for these tests because the Mac saves information about the wireless connections based on the SSID; using different SSID's for the different security settings reduces the chance the Mac will get confused by the security changes.
