How do I clear search history in apps store. I clear the search box, type in what I am looking for and it always goes back to the last app I downloaded.

If you tap on the X in the search field that should clear the search. When you type in the new app name and hit search on the keyboard it takes you to the last app that you downloaded?
Quit the app store completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or ....Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

The app store will not allow me to update my apps without updating a user that was the previous owner of the laptop. How do I remove this person from the computer etc.

If you mean an iTunes store id then Settings > Store - touch the id on the right and select sign-out from the popup. You can also do it via the bottom of the Feature tab in the App Store app. If you have any apps on the iPad that were downloaded/installed via that id then you may want to delete them - if updates for them ever appear in the App Store then you will only be able to update them via the id that was used to buy them (apps are linked to the account id, not to the device that they are on)

I have a new iphone5 - my first Apple product. Set up my Apple ID to download free apps. Registration requires a credit card. There is no "none" option as mentioned in previously posted instructions. There is no Paypal option either. Help???

Paypal isn't available in all countries.
How did you create the account ? Unless you followed the instructions on this page when creating it (the instructions won't work with existing accounts) then you will need to enter payment details before you will be able to download anything from the store with it : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

I incidentally switched to Mexico App Store and want to switch back to US App Store. First time I switched I just tapped a link that was displayed now when I try to purchase an app I gives me a message to switch back but no link shows up for me to do it.

I found an article with steps to change the language on the App and iTunes Stores:
Change your iTunes Store country
Sign in to the account for the iTunes Store region you'd like to use. Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region
Follow the onscreen process to change your region, agree to the terms and conditions for the region if necessary, and then change your billing information.

You can create an iTune and App Store account without credit card details
1. Sign out of current Apple ID if you are sign-in to one (important)
2. Go to App Store and select a free app
3. Tap INSTALL APP
4. Create New Apple ID
5. Confirm Your Country
6. Agree with Terms and Conditions
7. Fill in your Apple ID and Password (you must create a new Apple ID; don't use your old Apple ID)
8. Create and answer your secret question
9. Select NONE for Payment Method
10. Fill in Billing Address
11. Submit application for new Apple ID
12. Wait for verification email
13. When email arrive, verify your account
14. Start downloading your free apps

Already frustrated by jumping in and not getting some needed information before hand, hmm k
Create a new apple id - OR
create a new free web base email - sign into the apple id you have now edit the primary email address with the just newly created email save [you justs freed your email address from being an apple id]
Once you have all the4 correct information/data etc needed to be able to then chose option None
use that email to create apple id

my problem solve by me
first create apple id
fill credit card details
and complete your account creating process.
than go to app store or itune store
login your acount
click right side - account button
than again login for account setting
next go to payment information and click edit button
when u enter payment infomation
click none button in payment method and click done button.
than ur credit card has been removed.
but rs. 60 will deducted in your account when u doing this process.

Welcome to the Apple community.
You need to follow the instructions exactly, if you do not it will not work. Not all locations have a option to set the payment method did none.

I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Post your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.
If you want people to contact you, enable others to see your email address in your profile.
Open iTunes and navigate to the app store. Select a free app to download. A simple way to do this is to scroll down to the top free apps box on the right hand side, hover your mouse over the first item and click on the free button that appears when you hover over it.
A pop up will open asking you to sign in with your Apple ID click "create new account", click continue to create your account. Check the box to accept the store terms and conditions and click continue.
Enter your email address, password, security question, and date of birth, click continue. Now, you will be asked to provide a payment method. Note now that the last option says "none".

Did you following the instructions as written using an email address not used with Apple before?
Maybe your country does not allow it. The USA does allow it.

Follow this procedure:
1. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID.
2. Tap your Apple ID
3. Tap View Apple ID
4. Enter your password
5. Go to Country/Region in the popup window to change to the desired store.
