can't download mountain lion from app store, shows error message: retry/cancel and starts from begining,
    I alreasy paid for it
Can I get a direct download link other than from app store

Try opening the Terminal utility in your system and running the following command to open the system's caches folder:
    open $TMPDIR../C
Then locate and remove the folder called "com.apple.appstore" and then try relaunching the App Store and downloading the installer again.

  • New Mac Mini - How do i reinstall my copy of Mountain LIon from App Store?

    Hi All:
I just bought a new Mac Mini running Mountain Lion. I want to clone an older system drive that had been running Snow Leopard onto my new Mini and then upgrade to Mountain Lion (I tried Migration Assistant first, but it didn't work correctly and I don't want to mess with it again).
My question: once I have a working Snow Leopard install on my Mini, is it possible to upgrade back to the Mountain Lion OS it came with without paying for a new copy? How do I do that?
    Thanks!

It isn't just the hard drive - there is firmware built in that will prevent you from booting wih Snow Leopard. If you do a search here, you'll find many threads trying to install an earlier OS than what the machine came with all with the same answer (unless the Mac was built right around the time of a new OS being introduced, then it is possible to be booted from both OS's). In this case, you'd be trying to go backwards by 2 versions. Also see here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2186?viewlocale=en_US
And yes, if you use internet recovery and first erase the drive (available in Disk Utility within the recovery partition) and then reinstall the OS, it'll reinstall the OS on a blank drive and you can start over. If the machine is new, then Command + R during restart should automatically boot into internet recovery (connecting you to Apple's servers by showing a spinning globe while connecting); if the machine is a bit older, then Command + Option + R will boot into internet recovery.

  • Can't download 10.8 mountain lion from app store

    Hi,
I own a 2008 mac pro. The system drive was still running an original install of osx (upgraded to the latest version of 10.8). It had become pretty slow, so I bought a new ssd for a fresh install of the os.
I own 10.6 on dvd, which I have used previously on another computer to acomplish the exact same thing I'm trying to do here; install 10.6 on a new drive, then upgrade to 10.8 (the only way I know how to do this).
So I did the usual - new drive in, old drive out, install 10.6, update 10.6 until the "app store" becomes available. So I'm now running 10.6.8. I open the app store, log in, go to "my purchases" and see osx mountain lion sitting in the list. It says I purchased it on the 12th of November, 2012, which is correct. If I click on "osx mountain lion", the app store informs me that "Item not available. The item you've requested is not currently available in the UK store". I bought the "item". I paid good money Apple. Why can't I download this? If I click "download" a little spinny thing appears for a couple of seconds next to the back/forward arrows, then disappears.
10.9 is unsupported with the software I use - everyone's reporting faults, so I need 10.8. Can someone help? Obviously I can just put the old drive back in, but this NEEDS to be available somehow...?
    Thanks

    That's good to hear.
After some mucking about I managed to get it downloading on another computer (which is already running 10.8). Hopefully I should be able to copy it over and install.
But I will let Apple know - potentially pretty disasterous for people.
    Thanks.

  • Mac os x mountain lion The volume is already used for Time Machine backups

    Hey
I downloaded the Mac OS X Mountain Lion and then I clicked on the hard disk and then was "The volume is already used for Time Machine backups.
    Can you help me please

Well, this isn't a download window, it's an installer window. You need to select one of your hard drive volumes on which to install Lion.
Your computer's main drive apparently has been used by you for TM backups which is a first class "no no." See: OS X v10.6, OS X Lion- Cannot install Mac OS X v10.6 or later on a volume used by Time Machine for backups.

  • Clean Mac Mini Internet Recovery Install. App Store refuses to Install ilife11 "Not linked to Apple ID"

Hi. i got my Mini and replaced my HDD for a hybrid SSD. did a internet recovery install or lion. once installed i clicked on the app store. and it asked me to verify and link the 3 ilife apps to my account. i entered my details and all went well. i then was taken to the update page. but app store refuses to download the updates saying the products are not linked to my id!!! when i go back to purchases tab. it says i have no purchased apps at all.
what can i do please? i cant even work out who to contact about this.
    many thanks
    James

    Hi James,
Does it list Lion as purchased?
If not go to the main page and look on the right to make sure you are logged in:
If you are logged in and not seeing any purchases then the next option is the Support button - this will launch a new browser window and one of the Contact Support options is Account and billing.
It's all very new so that is the best I can come up with at the moment

  • HT1338 I have a new mac mini and cannot download mountain lion from apps store gives error

I have a new 3rd gen i5 intel mini mac and it wont' download ML from app store  it gives the error
We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer.
I want to reinstall it for its running to slow and add only what I need.
it installs on my older mac mini

Assuming your mini came with ML installed and you have already made a backup of your personal data, restart the computer while also holding down 'Command-Opt-R' and it should reinstall automagically from Apple's servers.

  • Can't download Mountain Lion on App store.

I have been trying to download Mountain Lion on the App store.  It will not allow me, and continues to ask me to upgrade softare using another account that is not mine.  However, there are no upgrades in the upgrades folder.  I have tried reformatting Spotlight and deleteing the App Store cache.  Nothing seems to work.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Can't redeem or install OS X Mountain Lion

I recently purchased the Mountain Lion Software using my personal Apple ID. Soon after, Apple contacted me via email asking me for my business name and email, which I provided. Now that I am on my MacBook, I logged on to the App Store using my personal Apple ID (the same account I purchased the software on) but it is not found in the Purchased section of the App Store. I do not have an Apple ID under my business email. Where do I find the OS X Mountain Lion Software I have purchased?

I'm having a similar issue.  I'm using up-to-date.  Download starts, it progresses, but then a couple minutes later I get a pop-up that says that the download has failed, and I should check my internet connection.  I am currently at a hotel, with a wired and wireless access to the internet.  The internet speed seems to be reasonable.  Any thoughts?
could be your hotel's server denying you large downloads....

    Hi,
Is there anyway Oracle 11g can be installed on MAC OS X Mountain Lion? without using a VM / VirtualBox that is.

    Hi,
Are you talking client or server?
Are you even talking database technology?
    - 11g is just a marketing name
Did you try googling for Oracle on MAC?
