HT204266 My App Store won't open on my iPhone 4

My App Store is blank when I try to open it.  Does anyone know why?

What have you tried ? e.g.
- closing the app via the taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with the App Store app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the App Store app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar
- logging out and back into your account via Settings > iTunes & App Stores
- a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • App Store won't open on OS X Yosemite 10.10.2

I recently updated my mac to OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.2 and during this a power cut happened. When I had finally got power back and turned on my mac it when to installing the new update as if I had just brought the mac brand new and was turning it on for the first place. After this happened and my iMac turned on I went to messages and found that it wouldn't open.
When I try to open the program I receive this:
Check with the developer to make sure that Messages Works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.
I have tried to open the app store to see if there is an update but my app store won't open. When it says its loaded I click on the icon and the current program I am on does change colour at the top as if I have changed programs but nothing actually comes up. This has been happening for days please help me! I have already tried to reset warnings and caches from iTunes. And I have tried to reset safari but I can't see to find the reset button for it.
    Thank you

Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible

If you are getting an 'invalid security code' message then is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorizations have the correct information on file.
And/or try contacting iTunes support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Express Lane, then iTunes > iTunes Store

  • App Store Won't Open After Mavericks Install :(

Since installing Mavericks my App Store won't open.  I click and it bounces one time then....nothing.  Any ideas on how to fix this?
I discovered this when I noticed that Image Preview won't open. I thought that there was an update for it so I went to the app store to see and discovered it won't open either!

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

  • App store won't open after running time machine reinstall

my HD crashed last week, got it replaced and just got my iMac back (20" intel). I ran a restore from my Time Machine backup from before the crash (took forever, but finished).
All looked fine but I found two problems...
    1) Safari would crash without opening. I fixed that by just downloading and reinstalling Safari.
    2) the App store does the same thing. the icon jumps a few times and then just stops and won't open. Unfortunately, it's part of the OS and it doesn't seem Apple allows direct downloads of the App Store app. I'm current on my OS so I'm not sure how to fix this problem.
Again, summary, restore from Time Machine, App Store won't open, OS is up-to-date. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Install the v10.6.6 combo update available here. It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.6.6. The combo includes fixes that were not included in the original update.

Restart your Mac and try the MAS again.
You can download apps directly from the MAS once you have it running.
Considering the TM backup took so long, make sure there's enough space on your Mac startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.*

  • 10.9.4 installed, now Software Update and App Store won't open

    Ahoy.
I installed the 10.9.4 update and now Software Update and the App Store won't open.  I don't know what other information might be relevant here.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

  • App store won't open after installing OS 10.9.2

I installed OS 10.9.2 and now my app store won't open.  When I launch it from the dock, the icon bounces and the light illuminates beneath the icon indicating that it is running however no screen ever pops up.  I launched the app store from the applications page and the same thing happened.  I tried restarting the computer and holding the shift key upon reboot but this did nothing as well.  This is incredibly annoying.

Are you getting the menu bar at the top?
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update.

  • My App Store won't open with OS X Yosemite 10.10.1, anyone have a solution?

I downloaded the 10.10.1 update without knowing much about it. Ever since then I have not been able to open it or update any of my apps or my computer software. Whenever I attempt to open it, it shows the symbol for the app store and then the rainbow wheels begins to spin. The only possible to get out is to make a new desktop page and force quit the App Store from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too have version 10.10.1 and it was installed at the apple store in Providence RI.  I am experiencing the same issue where the app store will not open - any suggestions?
