HT204291 Apple TV mirroring works fine for iPad but not for MacAir (with MtnLion).  The MacAir can stream music and photos to the Apple TV but no mirroring??

IT will stream photos and music and photostream (screensaver), but no mirroring, not even the icon??

Is the MackBook Air mid 2011 or newer? Only mid 2011 or newer Macs support AirPlay Mirroring. Read here for system requirements > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
Hope that helps.

Got new ATV and all set up. It keeps loosing connection with iTunes on laptop and have tried everything suggested in set up guide. It works fine for a while then the iTunes account vanishes from 'computer' menu TV screen.  Full Wifi signal on both devices so can't think what could be causing it to happen. Any suggestions please?

Sorry, I updated another thread I was a part of but didn't update my own thread.....ughhh!
I updated all of my ATV 2's and 3's to the latest firmware when it was released and have been problem free since. I do believe the major issue of not being able to connect after a period of inactivity has been corrected with the latest ATV firmware.
I can look at my network connection table using "netstat -an" in a CMD window and I do not see the massive number of connections I saw before the update.
Here is a link to the other thread I was referring to above:

Have you applied the latest firmware updates to your ATV 3's?

It maybe worthwhile trying to uninstall and then reinstall the icloud control panel, if the issue is with your outlook.

How to Use Multiple iDevices with One Computer

  • Microsoft exchange email worked fine, now iPad does not recognize the server

exchange was working fine until friday of last week, then it can no loger recognize the server or passwords. i reset it, rebooted, changed the password even. still does not recognize. any help? ideas?

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • 975x and Raid .. Works fine for me with all bios

I just glanced at the Bios thread to look something up (I forget what) and was stunned to see the posts there...
Why are people being discouraged from using Raid with the Official bios ver 7.3 (or any other bios) ?
If there was a problem using Raid with an official bios, especially one that gets auto updated, this board would be swamped with complaints..
I have never had a problem with Raid on this board..
And most of you that know me, know that I test almost every bios that comes out..
I don't have to reinstall my raid after installing a new bios...
Okay... sorry .. had to rant...
I don't have a step by step of "how I set up my Raid" but basically here is what I did..
(Please note, everyone has their own prefered method for installing an OS on a raid)
No matter what bios I used, I would have my "working" OS on an IDE drive...
I would then reboot, go into my bios, set my Sata to Raid (set forcegen to whatever you want)
f10 to save the setting and when the reboot happens, I try "control + I" to get into the Intel panel..
If I don't get the Intel Panel, I just reboot again, go in the bios, disable jmicron (my IDE drive will still work), and ...
f10 to save setting, and try "control + I" to get into the intel raid panel, if you can't get into the panel, something else is set wrong in your bios or your SATA drives aren't set up properly..
Once I created my raid, I would boot into my OS (on my IDE drive)...
My OS will find the raid and want to install a driver, ignore that, and just install the Intel Raid software..
Then I would either migrate my OS to the newly formed Raid drive using a tool like Data Lifeguard (that is Western Digital's tool for its drives)
Or I would just restore to the raid drive using an OS backup (I used Norton Ghost) and set the Raid drive as a boot drive..
Make sure your raid is formatted as a "primary partition" to be a boot drive...
Now that I have my OS on the raid drive, I just simply reboot, go into my bios, set my raid as the first boot drive and then when my system boots, I am running off my Raid...
As for having my raid running and trying a new bios...
I just flashed from bios ver 7.30 to ver 7.16 booted into my raid (all worked fine) and then flashed back to 7.30 and no problems finding my raid...
The only suggestion that I can offer is:
If you have problems finding your SATA Raid after a bios flash, the problem is most likely jmicron related...
Try disabling the jmicron in the bios (your IDE stuff should work fine unless you are using a Raid on the jmicron ports)..
or just try disconnecting all your drives except your SATA raid
Then see if you can see your SATA raid...
Understand, if there was a problem with running raids with this motherboard, there would be posts everywhere..
Somehow, either the way you created your raids, your bios settings, or the way your jmicron is implemented is causing problems..
    Hope this helps someone...
I know I am gonna get blasted for this post...
But I don't think I am the only one running a SATA raid using bios ver 7.3
I just think that those with working Raids, don't look at the Official Raid thread since it looks like a "How to" thread...
I am sorry (in advance) if I offended anyone with this thread...

    Hey Vaniireq
    1. Thanks for that info - Perhaps the forum modrerators would see more of the issues coming to light with RAID if they changed the topic in the stickies from HOW TO install Intel Matrix Storage Driver Guide  to MAIN RAID ISSUES and put in a subthread on HOW TO install Intel Matrix Storage Driver Guide
    2.  I have always kept the JMD disabled as nothing on BIOS 7.1 would work for me in raid when otherwise.
SUGGESTION:  I suspect that many when starting to look at the forum have no idea what there is in the "HOW TO install Intel Matrix Storage Driver Guide " thread - as it does not mention RAID that clearly.
    Just a suggestion.
I am about to do the 4 hour check and attempt to get back to dual channel 800 with my system.  Will advise....
    Good weekend all.........  Keith

  • My iPod touch 4G suddenly pops up with 'charging is not supported with this accessory' no matter what cord or source I use. It worked fine for months before this. What can I do?

This is crazy!  I love my iPod but it suddenly has a charging issue. Please HELP! I had absolutely no problem charging it for 7 or 8 months. Then last week I started getting an error message every time I try to charge it. I used to be able to charge it through my PC, PS3, wall adapter or car adapter. Now I get this message no matter where I try to charge it or with what cord! It says, 'charging is not supported with this accessory'. It happens after about 3-5 min of charging. Then I have to unplug it and plug it back in to keep charging it!  How or why did this happen and how do I fix it?

If you did not do a reset of your iPod please try that (you will not lose any data)
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If this does not work inspect the opening in your iPod where the cable connects. Look for any debris and clean it (a magnifying glass may be required).

  • I use an app that has tabs. (I do not mean tabbed browsing) Yesterday FF worked fine, today, it will not respond when I click the app tabs. IE still works fine on the tabs in the app.

FF does not respond to the click when I click certain areas in an app that I use such as a tab, or OK button, but will work on other buttons that I click.

    Hi,
    2 things:
    1. Assuming your script is original - it is not asking for a TXT file till it is found in expected location. You can choose between 2 solutions:
to remove FindChangeList.txt from FindChangeSupport folder ==> script will ask for another file
to override this file by your query ==> script will not ask but execute your query
    2. You can see greyed TXT files in Script Panel since this panel shows executable files (script's formats)

  • Can we stream music and photos from two Apple computers (different Apple IDs) to home theater?

Purchased Apple TV last week; both computers are running most recent versions of iTunes and Apple Aperture. Apple TV connected via HDMI to AV Receiver.
Computers are macbook pro and iMac.  Bot running most recent (10.9.1)  version of operating system.

We discovered that it was easier to keep one iTunes ID in Apple TV and have the second iTunes ID join using Airplay through an iphone or ipad.  The switching of user IDs in Apple TVs seemed a bit clunky to us, especially with the awful interface using the Apple TV remote.  We did not want to have the second iTunes ID password saved in the Apple TV since several of our kids use that TV, and wanted to prevent large iTunes bills.
    Thanks again for the information.
We like the Apple TV.  However, we have discovered that the wifi is the Aquilles Hill of this devise.  Our ISP offers 50 mbps download speeds from the internet (i tested it using one of the internet speed measuring sites) And the router at home supports 802 g and n proptocols.  The transmission of photos from Macbook Pro to Apple TV was incredibly slow.  Most likely the problem is caused by having the Apple TV near the floor and next to a fireplace; wireless signal has to travel through a physical firewall.  We solved the problem by buying an adaptor that connects to the wall and the router using ethernet cables; signal travels through the electric outlets to another adaptor that is connected  from an electric outlet to the Apple TV via ehternet as well. This improved the experience with this devise quite significantly.

  • TS3274 Ipad says "no Sim". have to restart and it works fine for awhile

Ipad says no sim. when I turn off and restart it works fine for a while then does same thing. cleaned sim and reinstalled.

Rather than just turning it off and on, try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the iPad, it is similar to rebooting your computer.
If that doesn't help, then the next step is to retore it to the factory settings. Then you can restore it to a previous backup (which may see the issue return) or set it up as a new iPad again.

Got the same problem – even after the upgrade to OSX 10.10.1. A restart usally helps. Even though the calls sometimes drop I got no crackling noise problem on iOS, though.

  • IPad setup - music and photos

I have recently purchased an iPad 3 and would now like to sort access to my iTunes music content (30gb) and photos (200gb) both of which are stored on an external hard drive which I have connected to a pc. I will shortly be giving my pc to family family as we no longer have room for it as our spare bedroom is now the nursery!! So, what is the best way to continue to access my music and photos without my pc as it will be too much content for my iPad? Perhaps iTunes match for music and if possible (?) accessing my photos via an external hard drive connected to my router?? Or If I kept my pc tower (almost acting as server) can I hook it up to an apple tv (do not currently own one) and access content on pc via network sharing?? I am aware of iCloud but only have the basic 5gb limit.
Really new to this and would welcome any solutions!
    Thanks,
    Edster81

You can sync music and photos to your iPhone by connecting the phone to your computer's iTunes - if you don't have your music in your computer's iTunes library, and if it's in a compatible format, then you can add it via File > Add To Library.
Syncing with iTunes : Sync your iPhone, iPad, and iPod with iTunes using USB - Apple Support
Photos aren't added to your iTunes library, iTunes is only used as a tool for syncing them to a device.
Syncing photos : Sync photos to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in iTunes - Apple Support
You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the phone together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the phone - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the phone, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
(I've asked for your post to be moved to the Using iPhone forum, where you've posted is the Using iPad forum.)
