HT204291 Mirroring isn't full screen

I can connect using airplay but the display isn't full screen. How can I adjust it?

Welcome to the Apple Community Kjk.
Mirroring won't fill the TV screen. The iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and the iPhone 4S or prior an aspect ratio of 3:2, neither of these will fit exactly into a TV screen which as an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Apple TV will not zoom the mirrored image, because it may well cut off information which is situated at the top or bottom of the screen.
You may wish to try each of the settings in ‘Settings > Audio & Video > Adjust for AirPlay overscan’ for the best setting that suits you.

  • HT204291 How to get full screen display in AirPlay mirroring on Apple TV?

    Hi there,
I am using airplay from my iPad (new). Mirroring doe not utilize 100% of my screen width. There is always 3 inches of screen initialized on either side.
I tried using all the screen resolution of video in settings it does not help. Ting to note is that the problem is occurring only for mirroring. If I play videos directly in YouTube on Apple TV I get full display. Any reason how to resolve this to achieve full screen and 100% Mirroring?

No there is no way to Mirror full screen from an iOS device to the Apple TV. iOS devices are not 16:9 like your HDTV so the mirrored image appears as the size your iOS device would be if it were the size of your TV. Hope that makes sense.

  • Full screen isn't full screen, unless I use "maximize" and later goes back

I used to be able to press full screen and it would be fine and when I closed ff, upon restarting it would restart in full screen. Something has gliched. When I press full screen in regular size, the full screen isn't full, only about 90-95% of screen. I can make it go full screen if I click
"maximize " and then full screen , but if at any time the screen isn't maximized, the same thing happens. If I close maximized and full screen
it opens with the reduced full screen. I can't move or stretch it out in anything except normal screen, and again, not I click full screen from there. I never had this problem.

You provided no information about installed extensions. <br />Do you have any extensions installed?
Does Firefox do that while running in the Firefox SafeMode? <br />

  • HT204291 Mirroring Doesn't fill screen

When mirroring, my ipad2 display only fills  up about  half of the screen.  When looking at the "apple tv" screen,  the whole screen is filled.  Is this a settings issue somewhere on my Ipad or maybe on my LCD projector??

Thanks for your quick response!!   Is there any way to change the 4:3 ratio on my ipad?    I'm messing around with presenting stuff to my chemistry classes using the Ipad and by not using the whole screen, some of the stuff is tough to read for kids farther away.      If I had a newer LCD projector (mine is 8 yrs old), would I be able to set that projector to a 4:3 ratio (probably not a fair question).  Anyhow,  just want to maximize my projected screen size, so any other advice you have would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Output to phone isn't full screen

    Hey,
I've searched the forum for a solution but have not had much luck.
Whenever I preview to a mobile device, the content isn't 100%.
My stage is set up to the correct resolution of the target device (1280px X 720px)
I'm using Edge Inspect but this is also the case when I load the .html locally from of the SD card.
There must be a way to view and interact with the content at 100% on a device...
Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried maybe adding a viewport meta tag to the header?
    Like this:
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
    Hope that helps.

Recently, my 4s crashed after updating it to the new IOS 7.0.3. It erased all of my data but thankfully I had most of it backed up to my computer. Once I finally got everything updated (because I hadn't backed my phone up since September) I got on twitter and facebook. They are both not functioning correctly. The screen is like a little box and there is no way for me to expand it or anything. Same for facebook. I have tried deleting it multiple times and reinstaling it and just about everything else i can think of and it wont work! Please please help me if you know how to fix it!!!

I have no clue what is their deal! All my other apps are fine its just these two!!

  • IPad 2, Digital AV Adapter not full screen

    Hi,
I bought an Apple Digital AV Adapter three days ago.
I use my iPad 2 connect with Sony Bravia 32' television via Digital AV Adapter,
The iPad 2 instantly connect to the television, but the problem is that the screen that display isn't full screen. I tried with every setting on my iPad and also on the television but still no luck and the scree still appear to be 1/4 of the size.
I also tried with other television from my brother's house and give the same result and I tried with my brother's iPad and samething.
I went to the Apple store and change the cable because I read one of the article in this site and said they change and work so I tried but still giving the same result.
This is a bit out of the topic but I tried with my iPhone 4 (with some hack) and iPhone 4 give full resolution which is kinda weird why not with iPad :/
can anybody give any advice what should I do?

there is a bug in this device, and it's all apples fault with iso 7.
Here is what you need to do to fix it this annoying problem. What you need to do is first power on everything and connect your device up. IN settings look for  Settings, General. there will be a little Magic box that shows up only when it's connected and working called video out. select that and look for widescreen, change it to off or no. but the selection you make here does nothing tell you reboot the device. so unplug the video out adapter and reboot the device and once connected up it should show the video in its right aspect ratio now. I played around with this for an hour tell I figured out it needs to be rebooted.
    Enjoy.
and for me for some odd reason windscreen turned off means it's on.

  • Full screen screwed up.

Ok. I downloaded iTunes like 9.1 or something, the most recent version. Anyway, now the viewing screen for my movies is messed up. It's too small on the iTunes screen and full screen isn't full screen. It is a black background with the movie the same size it was in normal view. Anybody know how to fix this?

I'm having the same problem. Never had the issue before I upgraded to iTunes 9. I'm running a MBPro 2009 with MacOS 10.6.3. Interestingly even though the "full screen" only makes the image about 1/2 the size of the actual screen, I think it is playing a full resolution. I can make play in a separate window (for example by clicking on the lower left image in iTunes) and make it "fit to screen" and the window becomes full height of my screen. But then going to "full screen" does the same thing described.

  • ITunes 10.2.2.12 crashes system with full screen visualizer

Can't seem to find a useful answer.  1 year old HP Pavillion running Win 7 (fully up to date), Core 2 Quad Q8200, 64-bit, 4Mb L2 cache, 6Gb DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce G210.  A few months back I noticed that whenever I had iTunes full screen visualizer running, after about 1/2 hour or so (time varies but seems to play for a while before crapping out) my system would freeze and become completely unresponsive, requiring a hard power-down (keyboard and mouse - dead, monitor displays "no input signal").
I do not have this issue when visualizer isn't running.  Also don't see this happening (yet) when visualizer isn't full screen.
My first round with this led me to believe there was a conflict with Windows going idle and iTunes not working with Windows to keep it active.  So I disabled my idle times completely and that seemed to resolve it.  Was able to listen to hours of playback without issue.  Now, this week, it started happening again.  Play iTunes, turn on full screen visualizer, after a short while sound will stop, screen will die, system will freeze.
Not interested in rolling back to earlier versions of iTunes.  I want iTunes to work properly.  I can't use it if it doesn't work.
Ideas on what I should be looking at/for?  Video card problem?  Temperature problem?  ???
I work in IT, but not with hardware, so this is a little outside my area.

update:  it's starting to happen much more quickly and frequently - basically all the time now.  last time was 43 secs into the first song.  I can no longer use the visualizer at all.  This is the first real problem I've had with this machine since purchasing it 1/2010.
To clarify a little:  my system doesn't go "dead" - if it means anything the indicator lights are blue whereas they're orange when inactive.  It's the UI that dies - no signal to the monitor, no sound, no mouse or keyboard input, and no way to move forward without pulling the plug and restarting. Everything seeeems to come back ok when I restart, although I did start having wireless issues yesterday (a 3yr old linksys N).  Separate issue or not, not sure.
I'm thinking it's gotta be hardware related, but i've been wrong once before.
Basic out of the box box:
    64 bit Quad-Core
    Intel G43
    NVIDIA GeForce G210
    512MB DDR2 dedicated to graphics
    PCI Express 2.0 x16
    Memory:
    6GB DDR3 1066, max 8GB

  • HT204291 How do you get your appltv mirroring of your iPad2 to go full screen?

How do you get your appltv mirroring of your iPad2 to go full screen?

The iPad is a 4:3 aspect ratio so on a widescreen TV unless you squash the mirrored image vertically you'll have black bars either side.
Your TV may have a zoom or aspect ratio option on the remote which may zoom to fill.

  • I am using iPad 3 and I try to use 30-pin Digital AV adaptor for mirroring on my Samsung HD TV.  Unfortunately it is not a full screen projection.  Anyone can help?

I am using iPad 3 and I try to use 30-pin Digital AV adaptor for mirroring on my Samsung HD TV.  Unfortunately it is not a full screen projection.  Anyone can help?

The iPad Screen is almost square, HD TVs are rectangular so will never be full screen.  When watching movies, the movies native aspect ratio will be used rather than the iPads screen aspect ratio so will look full screen if the movie is full screen, but most likely will be seen in wide screen letter box format. with black bars across the top and bottom as that what most movies from iTunes are in, format wise

  • How can I get a full screen on my tv when i am mirroring from my ipad 2

how can I get a full screen on my tv when I am mirroring from my ipad 2?

You woul dprobably need to choose a zoom display mode on the TV.
Any screem shots / promos for mirroring I've seen have been 4:3 ratio like the iPad screen resolution.
To me this would be an obvious source of frustration to users of 16:9 TVs - unless there's an ipad 2 mode to somehow run in 16:9 not using the whole screen or not displaying the edges for mirroring, AppleTV2 may not be able to fill the screen

  • Is it possible to mirror a full screen video on one workspace while using another?

I have Mountain Lion and mirroring capability to my Apple TV but is there a 3rd party utility out there that anyone knows of that enables me to still use my computer while mirroring a full screen video.  I've tried running a video on one workspace and when I swiped over to my other workspace of course it mirrored it.  I get it, that's how it works but how much better would it be if it could selectively mirror a workspace?  Anyone seen a workaround/utility that allows this?

Now that I think about it, I do have another issue that baffles me. When I'm on any given web-page, and I right click to send (e-mail) the link, nothing happens. Could this have something to do with the FF version I'm using? (3.6.16) I say this because, in the past, this wasn't a problem. FYI... I already opened Tools-Options-Applications Tab, scrolled down to MAILTO, and tried switching to both of my e-mail clients. Still... Nothing at all. Any ideas?
