HT204291 My AirPlay mirroring is grainy.

My AirPlay mirroring was working perfectly and now any movement pixelates and looks very grainy. I can't use it to watch video anymore. I have a 30+Mbps DSL and a new MacBook Pro with plenty of power. Any reason this suddenly doesn't flow well? It even gets ****** while I type this out.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

Using AirPlay Mirroring by my iPhon, iPad or Mac I am dissconnected every 5-10 min! Why?

The iPad 1 does not support mirroring at all. Nor does your Mac Pro when running 10.7.5; Mirroring via AirPlay came only with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

  • HT204291 Making AirPlay mirroring fit the dimensions of your television.

Using AirPlay mirroring, how do you make the window full screen / or to fit the dimensions of your tv?

    >I read that it was supposed to show up when you turned on your apple tv.
That is not even remotely true.  First off the Mac has to be new enough to even support AirPlay.  Second is AirPlay enabled on the Mac?  Turning it on on ATV does nothing to to the Mac you are trying to use.   If it is supported on the Mac, and AirPlay is enable on the Mac did you add the AirPlay user Id/password to the Mac to enable the AirPlay connection?

  • HT204291 Get AirPlay mirroring (or similar functionality) with a cable (not wireless)?

Is there a way to mirror my ipad screen to my macbook pro with just an old fashioned cable?
This may sound crazy, but I need to project ipad applications for demonstrations, and I need to be able to do this on corporate networks that don't support multicast DNS. Is this possible?

Not that I know of, 3rd party programs that do this facilitate wireless mirroring.

Macbook 2012 retina display. Unable to see desktop on television, audio works perfectly. Both OS on ATV and Mac are running latest versions.
    Firewall set correctly (allow incoming...)
When I click mirroring to turn it on, teh Apple TV screen goes blank (from its home setting)
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi!
I figured it out! It was a firewall issue.
I use Handsoff and I checked it before i wrote here. There was no "user defined rule" that denied the communication but when i changed to "All rules" the program displayed several rules regarding AppleTV and its IP.
So if anybody has the same problem make sure you see all rules of your firewall and get rid of the AppleTV related rules generated by the program itself. You dont need to update to the latest iOS on the AppleTV!
I hope that I can help some people with this info to fix the problem.

My iPad 4 does not show up on my TV screen when in AirPlay mirroring mode using WiFi.  The iPad displays AirPlay set to TV with the Mirroring On (green).
My iPad IOS software is 8.2 and my Apple TV software is at 7.1.  The TV displays the Apple Menu.  The “Settings” does however displays the General menu allowing me to see:
    Apple software:          7.1 (7003)
Apple TV:                   Model No. A1464, Part No. MD199B/A
    Signal Strength shows 5 circles.
It does not display the iPad screen but when I use the BT Sport App I can hear the sound but there is no video.  I have searched the internet for a solution to no avail. The problem first arose when the IOS was at 8.1+ but it worked correctly briefly when I updated to IOS 8.2.  Can you help please?

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • HT204291 Is it possibly to have iTunes music play out of both the computer and AppleTV while using Airplay Mirroring for the TV?

Is it possibly to have iTunes music play out of both the computer and Apple TV while simultaneously using Airplay Mirroring to view the computer screen on the TV? Whenever I try, by clicking on 'computer' radial button for volume in iTunes Airplay, the TV automatically reverts to the Apple TV screen. I usually end up using preferences to 'bring back' the audio to the computert while leaving the picture on the tv, but this means i have to suffer from the inferior sound quality of my Macbook internal speakers.

  • HT204291 AirPlay mirroring of my ipad only fills part of my flat screen tv

Hi just trying to get my airplay mirroring to fill my whole flat screen tv....

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Airplay mirroring cannot fill your entire screen. The aspect ratio of the iPad is 4:3 whereas the aspect ratio of your TV is 16:9, it just isn't possible for one to fit into the other perfectly.

  • HT204291 Issue with losing AirPlay Mirroring connectivity

I have a brand new Mac running IOS6 with a 2nd generation Apple TV.
My AirPlay Mirroring connects fine everytime I start it up.   The issue is that it drops its connection after 20 minutes every single time.
When I go back to my computer the AirPlay Mirroring Icon is no longer there.
I have to reboot the computer and start again.
Is there some sort of auto timer function that I need to adjust?
Has anyone else had this issue?
