HT204291 Problem with Airplay or AirPlay Mirroring

I am not able to use AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring to stream content like Hulu (not Hulu plus) to my Apple TV from my PC.  I disabled the firewall and that did not help.

How are you trying to do this?  It would require mirroring and you seem to have a PC not mac.  If that is the case you need a third party app called airparrot www.airparrot.com which should give you the ability to 'mirror'.  It has mixed reviews but I found it fine until I got mirroring.

  • Problems with Airport Express & Airplay

Hi Guys, I'm having a lot of problems using my Airport Express as a bridge, and Airplay.
I have a wireless network set up with various repeaters through our (large) house, and wanted to set the Airport Express to extend the wireless range into the kitchen, and to work as an Airplay port for the stereo which is next door.
The main network is a cable modem into a wireless router, which is then repeated with 85M PLC Adapters throughout the house.
Had alot of trouble setting up the express unit - have re-set it to default settings numerous times. Managed to get it set up to repeat the signal and act as an airplay once, but the performance was very poor - i.e. sound dropping out, losing connection. It also wouldn't connect using iphone or ipod, again even when it had 4 bars wi fi reception.
I then tried setting it up purely to join the existing network, not to repeat it. and act as an airplay port; and it connected, said it worked, but then I couldn't play any music through it, and it went back to flashing orange.
The Airport Express is in the same room where I'm typing this and has 5 bars of wi-fi signal strength.
I've tried the few things I know - anyone got any bright ideas?
    Makro

    Network
Plug the AE next to the PLC and connect it to the Ethernet port of the PLC.  Configure the AE to operate in bridge mode.  If your PLC doesn't offer an Ethernet port, use one like the Netgear XAVN2001.  If it's already taken, you will need a 4 port switch.  You will also need a long 3.5mm audio cable if the amp is not in the proximity of the PLC, available from Amazon for under $5.  Finally, create a separate wireless network on the AE.
    Client
Connect the client to the AE's wireless network, not your existing network.  The client in this case is an iPxd or other computer with iTunes or Airplay/similar PC.
The above basic configuration works flawlessly in my experience.  If the Client is to distant from the AE's wireless, you can, as a second step, connect it to your existing network, but be forewarned that in this scenario dropouts abound and the AE frequently disappears from view.

  • HT204291 Problem with AirPlay logo

The AirPlay logo doesn't appear in the menu bar on our iPad. Any suggestions to solve this are most welcome. Thank you.

I use this feature many times a week at home and at work... one thing to check is to see if your Apple TV and your iPad (gen 2+) are on the same wifi network. AirPlay only works when the devices are connected to the same network. You may also want to check to make sure that AirPlay is turned on on your Apple TV. If this still is not solving your issue, I would then look to your network settings, not all networks will support such sharing features.

  • Problems with wifi and airplay

I recently purchased an apple tv 3rd generation
I have been having issues like:
    1) No video but audio plays and also no audio but video playing, when I use mirroring on my mid 2011 macbook pro running mountain lion
    2) I have to restart my router every 15 mins to fix stalling wifi connectivity
    3) Even when apple tv is switched off, the problem exists but disappears when I unplug it off the network
    Other info:
I have an old router I use. I dont know the hardware configuration (I checked on 192.168.1.1).Again as I said this router works fine with all my other devices such as another pc and my android phone and ipod touch. No problem watsoever. The problems begin as soon as apple tv is on network.
I have tried using a new wifi 802.11g router but the above mentioned issues refuse to go away. Please help .
P.S:Very frustarted with a premium brand like apple not even having a choice of tech support over phone.I have off late drifted more towards non apple products due to it's very stubborn, unflexible ways with respect to service, support and products themselves.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • Problem with the network (streaming-mirroring)

Hello guys, im really new in this whole posting my questions so hopefully im doing it right.
I have a Apple Tv 2nd gen  and it was working like magic untill i changed my network.
I used to have severall routers which meant several networks (more or less) but when i bought the new equipmens I had the great idea to have only one router (Linksys N6500) and a access point that i used as a repeater (TPlink TL-wa901nd) the network works great for the AppleTV and the computers but when i try to mirror or stream any content my computer says that the AppleTV does not exist in the network some times and others it does but when i try to stream it, dissapears.
My guess is that the AppleTV and the computer are connecting to different access points (computer to router - Apple Tv to AP or reverse) and therefore not finding eachother, and i have been trying everything to make them encounter eachother and then stay like that (they miss eachother alot ).
    Any opinions
    Thanks in advance...

Connecting to different base stations shouldn't be a problem providing your network only has one DHCP server. Have you set your second router up in bridge mode.

  • Problem with Airplay Mirroring: Image Cut Off

I have a mid 2011 Macbook Pro.   I have installed Mountain Lion.   I am able to activate Airplay Mirroring, however, part of the image is cut off.   In other words, what is shown on my TV is only about 2/3 of the image that is shown on my macbook.    It is not showing a black bar, or anything like that.   It is more like the image is enlarged and doesn't fit on the TV screen.
I have searched the internet trying to find a solution.   I haven't found anyone with this problem.   So, my question is, do I have some settings wrong?   Or is it a problem with the settings on my TV?   If anyone has suggestions for troubleshooting this problem I would be grateful!   I really want to use airplay!
    Thanks!

OK, I am replying to my own question!    My husband just found a thread solving this problem.

We changed the video settings on the Apple TV to 'auto', and restarted.   It works great now!

  • Ipad air using iOS 8.1.1 refuses to mirror or use airplay. Same problem with iPhone 5c.

I use an iPad Air to deliver keynote presentations via Airplay using Apple TV.  Did this a few months ago no problems. Tried yesterday to deliver a presentation iPad refuses to mirror/airplay. Both are on same wifi - signal is good. Select tick box for airplay (mirroring tab is selected) but nothing happens! After barely a few seconds tick box jumps and selection is removed. Tried hundreds of times same result. Have tried powering down and re-staring all the equipment no joy. Restarted router no joy. Interesting to note have same problem with iPhone 5C (and 4S which is still on IOS 7). Any help gratefully received.  Thank you.

By accident solved my own problem. Apple TV and iPad were working on the same wifi network, close to the router, with a strong signal. That signal is boosted to the far corners of the house via a network based on the Airport Extreme & Express units. Perversely Airplay & mirroring only works when picking up that weaker wifi signal via a different channel! Now to see if a similar solution works for the iPhones.

  • HT204291 how can I download airplay in my imac to mirror with my apple tv?

I bought my Imac april 2011. Is this computer too old to use airply to mirror with my apple tv? If not how do I do it?

    About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

    Hello there, AntRambo.
The following Knowledge Base articles may provides some steps to go over for troubleshooting your issue:

    And also the following:

Particularly but not exclusively of note:
If the AirPlay icon doesn't appear
Ensure that you have followed the steps in using AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring.
If you are still unable to see the AirPlay icon  , try one of the following steps:
If trying to AirPlay, or AirPlay mirror, to your Apple TV, ensure that AirPlay is enabled on your Apple TV as well. You can enable or disable AirPlay on Apple TV in the AirPlay menu: Settings > AirPlay.
Check Internet or network connectivity on all affected devices. Some content requires an Internet connection to authorize content playback. AirPlay capabilities may be limited if your network is not connected to the Internet.
If attempting to use AirPlay from a third-party app or a website from your Safari app on your iOS device, confirm that the app or website is AirPlay compatible (refer to the developers of the app or website for additional information).
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • Airplay problem with photos

I have the latest software on my iPhone 6 and the latest software on my Apple TV.  I can airplay videos from the iPhone, but I can't airplay photos.  Using the same equipment AND my wife's iPhone 5S, it does Airplay photos.  Is there some setting on my iPhone to enable Airplay from my photos?

Thanks.  I took a look at the link and it doesn't apply in my case.  I clearly see the AirPlay icon and I don't have any performance issues. Yesterday I tried to make an appointment with a local Genius Bar to take care of this problem (unable to AirPlay photos, but strangely can AirPlay videos I shot).  Apple has made it MUCH harder to make a Genius appointment via the internet.  Perhaps if I just showed up at a store, they would take me at the Genius Bar.
Instead, at least online, I ended up with a "chat" guy and about 1.5 hours, trying to fix the problem. Due to the explanations going back and forth with a keyboard and assuming my "chat" guy was dealing with others at the same time, at least an hour was consumed before really trying to fix the problem. I'm guessing a Genius appointment would have been signed, sealed and done in less than 15 minutes.
So, the chat guy finally said to try a "Reset All Settings" which I did.  That froze up my iPhone 6 for well over 15 minutes (no movement on the progress bar period).  I then think "brick".  I suggest a hard reset (power button + home button).  That put the phone in full recovery, but with the same problem (no AirPlay of photos).  The chat guy then suggested "erase all content and settings" and then restore with my backup.  I haven't done that yet because I dread having to then rearrange all my apps again into folders, etc etc.
The short version here is I'm going to miss the Genius Bar to take care of dinko problems such as this.  I assume this new Genius Bar policy has to do with some "bean counters" looking at the increased Apple consumer head count jamming up the Genius Bar.
    Progress???

  • Apple TV having problems with Airplay

    Hi
I'm having problems with Airplay on my Apple TV. It will play A video once then errors out. Wifi has full strength and software is up to date. i have tried forgetting the wifi and reconnecting. This will fix the problem for a moment and then it errors out again. Netflix and everything else seems to be working fine just airplay keeps kicking me out. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi mrshoughton,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your Apple TV. If you continue to have issues with Airplay performance from your device/computer to your Apple TV, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful. In particular, if you are using Airplay from iTunes on a computer, you may want to rule out any WiFi issues by temporarily connecting your computer and your Apple TV directly to your router via Ethernet, as noted in the second article below:

  • Ios 7.0.6 Problems with Bose SoundLink Air with Airplay

    Hello,
We recently updated all of our ios devices to ios 7.0.6. We have found that when using our Airplay Bose speaker, eveything will work great for a minute or so just to suddenly drop. However, it works just find with my Macbook Pro. I have slowed wireless signal (2.4 GHz N wireless) and still have the same problem. Has anyone else had this problem and did you solve it?

  • Anybody else having problems with airplay with ios 5.1 on iphone 4s

So i bought an iphone 4s a few months back and it came with ios 5, i then tryed it with my airplay speakers and they kept cutting out so i googles about it and found there was a known problem with iphone 4s and airplay speakers.
ios 5.0.1 then came out a few weeks later and the problem seemed to be fixed and i was happy as they worked fine after that
ios 5.1 then came out so i updated my 4s to this and started playing music through airplay and they started to cut out again, i turned them off and on and it happened again, then i reset them to my wifi router and the problem still occured
Is anybody else having this problem with airplay on there iphone 4s running ios 5.1?
If so, apple really need to sort this out! I bought my iphone with high expectations and to pay all that money for it not to work is not good

Try resetting your device by holding down both the home and lock buttons for ~10 seconds or until the device restarts, ignoring the power slider.
