  • I keep getting this message An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device " AirPort Express".

Please help. I have been having major difficulties with my Airport Express. It used to work fine but for the last year or so it continually disconnects, skips and ultimately drops out and itunes gives me this message "An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device “AirPort Express”. I keep resetting, unplugging, restarting Itunes, or my computer. It works for a couple of hours and then I get the message again. It's making me nuts and was a bummer at last week's party when we had no music, yet again. I have looked up the support discussions, but there is no answer as to how I can fix it. I am currently using Mt Lion OS. Does this have anything to do with it? Checked for software updates, but nada.
    Any suggestions.

It may be possible the where you have the AX located may just be in a spot where it does not get a good signal even it is only 8 feet away.
I suggest that you download and install iStumbler. You will use it to determine the signal quality by making Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) measurements. This will be easiest if your Mac is a laptop ... or you can borrow one. When taking the measurements, you only want your "main" AirPort running as this is what we want to measure at the location of the AX.
SNR (in dB) = Signal (in dBm) - Noise (in dBm)
You can easily find the Signal and Noise value using System Profiler on your Mac laptop.
ref: Click on the Apple icon on the menu bar > About This Mac > More Info... > Contents > Network > AirPort > Interfaces > en1 > Current Network Information > Find your wireless network > Signal / Noise
While your still in the System Profiler, note the value for Transmit Rate.
These values should be negative numbers. For example, mine currently read: -67 dBm / -95 dBm, with a transmit rate of 27 (Mbps). Plugging in these numbers yield: SNR = -67 - (-95) = 28. My Mac Mini is about four rooms away from my AEBS with about five walls between them. As you can see, the signal is still quite useable ... but the bandwidth is minimal, especially for streaming.
    SNR Guideline
    40dB+ SNR = Excellent signal
25dB to 40dB SNR = Very good signal
    15dB to 25dB SNR = Low signal
10dB to 15dB SNR = Very low signal
    5dB to 10dB SNR = No signal
    Please post back your results.

  • An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device "Apple TV".

LOADS OF PROBLEMS WITH AIPORT EXPRESS
An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device “Apple TV”.

I had the same issue, started getting the error after my Airport Express had been working perfectly for over two years.
On another post in this site, someone advised disabling IPv6.
    System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> TCP/IP -> Configure IPv6 to OFF
This instantly fixed the streaming for me. Not sure why or if it will work for AppleTV.
    Hope this helps.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router.
    Restart your computer.

  • An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device "Frontera Speakers".

I have seen several threads that address problems connecting an Airport Express to an existing network. However, I have had no luck with any of the suggestions. I have configured at Airport Express base station as an AirPlay device. The unit shows up as connected in Airport Utility 5.6 and can be selected through iTunes. After several moments of displaying a dialog box indicating a connection to remote speakers the following error is displayed in the finder: An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device "Speakers" Airport Utility lauches automatically and displays the following error: Make sure your Apple Wi-Fi base station is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. I have rebuilt permissions and reset the airport multiple times. At a loss.

  • Airport Express and iTunes give error: 'An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device'

    Hi guys & girls,
Yesterday I bought an Airport Express 802.11n (1st generation); solely for the purpose of listening to my music without connecting any cables to my speakers.
I've done the set-up (i.e. linked the AE to my existing network without any Ethernet) and connected the AE to my speakers, and the light turns green. However, when I try to make a connection in iTunes to the base station, I get the following error: 'An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device “Base Station 5bf269”.'
I'm quite a noob with computers and the technical aspects, however, I normally get around by googling and trying out some things. I've tried the following things already:
    - Downloaded Airport Utility 5.6 to change the IPv6 to Host (Configuration is set on automatic)
    - Firmware update for the Airport Express to 7.6.1
My iTunes version is 10.6.3, am using MacBook Pro Mac OS X 10.7.4. I really have no clue what could be wrong and how to fix this. I'm only sitting 2 meters away from the AE so it cannot be about the range. Can someone help me please?
    Thanks!!

  • "An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device "Brian's AirPort Express"

This keeps popping up when I tyr and use my airport express. Anyone know how to fix it?

Yup, seems these kinds of problems are always related to airplaying.
iTunes is fully up to date? I wonder if it's an interference issue.  Can you connect the express over ethernet by any chance for testing purposes?

  • An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device "

I've done a soft reset, hard reset, rebooted, software update - the only thing I haven't done recommended by Apple is set specific Firewalls - which was not an available option.
It worked fine for about a year, but just stopped working.  Is it a defective unit?  What other options are there?

I too have had these issues connecting to my WiFi driven speakers and 2nd gen ATV.
I disabled NAT on my Airport Base Station to no avail.  Then I remembered that I had my iMac connected via ethernet.  I unplugged the ethernet, connecting my iMac via WiFi to base station.
Poof...everything works like a charm with no hitches.
I'm not a computer genius but I did find the solution.  Go figure.

  • An error has occured while connecting to Airplay device

    Hello
    I have the following setup
Microsoft Windows 7 home premium SP1
    Itunes 10.7.0.21
    airport express  ver 7.6.1
    Airport Utility     ver 5.6.1
I have a wifi Router which is used for the wireless network. Thus the airport only joins that network, and plays music.
I had recently upgraded the Itunes to 10.7.0.21 and then the problem started
Now when ever i try to play music thru the airport I get an error code -15000

    Hi Seraphiel07.
I have a very similar issue. Hardware involved:
Apple MacMini (Mid 2011) - OSX 10.8.2. iTunes 10.7. Home Sharing enabled.
Apple TV (3rd Generation). Home Sharing (access) enabled.
Apple MacBook Pro (15" Mid-2009). OSX 10.8.2. iTunes 10.7. Home Sharing enabled.
Apple iPad 2 (Wifi only). iOS 6
    Apple iPhone 4S. iOS 6
    All connected through:
Apple Time Capsule 8.0211n (4th Gen)
I have an iTunes library on the MacBook Pro, shared over "Home Sharing" and another (duplicate content, different library name) iTunes library on my MacMini, which is also accessed through the Apple TV.
All software is current (as of Sep 26th).
All movies are iTunes purchases. 80 in total.
All files are purchased (and home shared) under one account.
My last two iTunes purchases both HD movies on 09/17/2012 and 09/05/2012 refuse to appear on any device accessing either of the two Libraries over Home Sharing. It should be noted that every other movie (the other 78) all show up and play correctly. I therefore know it is not an issue with connectivity, otherwise I would see zero movies available.
    I have:
    1. Removed all content from each Library and re-added
    2. Upgraded the OS on the MacMini 10.8.2
    3. Tested viewing the two missing movies on other Apple devices and no luck.
    4. Turn home sharing on and off within iTunes and also on each device.
It would appear to me that the issue is with the files themselves, rather than the devices as different devices and different versions have been tested.
    All comments welcome.

  • MS Project 2010 - An unknown error has occurred while syncing to a SharePoint site.

    Dear all,
I encountered a generic error when using MS Project 2010 to sync with our SharePoint 2013 on-premise. I want to clarify is it default behaviour or a bug.
When I start MS Project 2010 professional from new -> sync to Sharepoint by type in URL and the list name. I can create a new project list successfully.  I have verified the tasks are sync to the Sharepoint and I am able to see them listed on site.
After sync, I save the Ms Project document to local computer. Named test1.mpp. Then I close MS Project. Then open test1.mpp again and then sync immediately. This time an error show up:
An unknown error has occurred while syncing to a SharePoint site. Ensure the SharePoint site is running and try again
Since I didn't add anything to the mpp file, I believe it doesn't contain any invalid data blocking the sync. What would be the problem? Thanks.
    Mark

No, I didn't. I just fill the site path like:
    http://sharepoint.com/sites/Project/
    and then the List field:
    ProjectA
I want to clarify the sequence should be:
After sync, I save the Ms Project document to local computer. Named test1.mpp. Then I close MS Project. Then open test1.mpp again and then sync immediately. Then error occur.

  • Unknown error has occurred while discovering dynamically-related files

    Hi all.
Having trouble running Joomla files in Dreamweaver CS5.
"unknown error has occurred while discovering dynamically-related files"
Setup testing server and have checked settings again and again. Localserver is XAMPP and everythig running as it should there. Am I missing a DW extention?
Would be very greatful for any pointers!
    Regards,  Dominic

    Success!
I have made so many changes to settings meanwhile and become so fustrated that i´m not sure what triggered it to work anymore.
In anycase I enjoyed my day here in Adobe Forums. I did alot of reading (alot!) and would like to say thanks to SnakEyez again aswell as thanks to all the other users I have taken notes from.
here are the settings I have ended up with:
    - Joomla1.6 installed in c:xampp/htdocs/ (no subfolders)
    - local site folder and testing server folder are C:\xampp\htdocs\. (settings phpmysql and testing server applied)
    - site specific code hints: joomla
    - windows firewall disabled / zonealarm shutdown (creating program rule and opening port did not work)
    - unchecked "use alternative port 80" in skype (dnt forget to restart)
I could install and run Joomla in localhost before, but couldn´t open in DW until making these changes.
    Dreamweaver CS5 and xampp-win32-1.7.4
Hope this helps the next guy.
    Regards,  Dominic
