No amount of deselecting will work. It forces you to pick one.
Does anyone have a solution given that I've better explained the problem?

The settings at the bottom of the Do Not Disturb page do not matter if you have the switch for Manual turned to off, or the Scheduled turned to off.
When the phone is unlocked, if you try to raise the volume of the ringer, what do you see on the screen? Does it say ringer, do you see the word headphones anywhere?

I would do a hard restart and then make sure you flip the Vibrate botton on and off on the side. If that does work i would reset to factory settings. If that does not work i would take it to a apple store, Good luck

Thank you for the question. It sounds like there is no sound with an incoming phone call or text. Have you checked to see if Do Not Disturb was accidentally enabled? You will see a "moon" icon in the status bar if it is enabled.
You can disable Do Not Disturb in Settings > Do Not Disturb or in the Control Center as described in the following articles:

I had exactly the same problem. Only soultion is to either wait for the next update, which may or may not fix the issue, or do like I did and take the iphone back to the AT&T store and pay the exchange fee of $30+ bucks and get a new iphone. You could also send it back to Apple to have them repair it. This simply cannot be fixed any other way.

i have reset my iphone 4s 3 times now and once we reset and cleared the whole phone because I was not receiving calls. it would go right to voicemail and the phone would not even show that a call came in. I reset it again and it would ring for one call and the next right to voicemail. Any suggestions?

I have never heard of such a thing, so I don't know what they are meaning. Unless...is it perhaps that your Z10 is locked to a different carrier than you are attempting to use, and it's rejecting the SIM when you insert it? If so, that should present a message on screen though, and you've not said anything about that.
You can check the locked status of your device via:
Settings > Security and Privacy > SIM Card
If the bottom three sections on that screen all say "Unlocked", then you are good to go on any compatible carrier (each specific model BB is compatible only with a subset of all carriers in the world, but I don't know what you have nor what your carrier requires).
If any of those say locked, then that might be what this electronic repair person meant...you'd need an MEP code to unlock the device from it's originally manufactured-for carrier. You normally obtain that code from that original carrier, but each of them have their own rules about giving those out. Otherwise, you'd have to seek a fee-based service to provide the code (there are several on the Internet, and I have no recommendations for you).
Anyway, with the information you've provided, those are my guesses...with more information we might be able to guess more accurately.

After updating my iPhone with the 5.0 revision, my phone ceased to ring. All my settings seem to be proper and the ringer volume is set on top level.

it worked perfectly when he was on 2.0,

I was having the same problem and did a couple of "restores" and the issue kept coming back, after several calls and not much help I decided to delete an application that I had downloaded which was "Ski jump lite" and the problem has gone away. It worked fine on the previous version of apple software.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it must be frustrating when you iPhone will not ring when you have an incoming call. The first thing I would suggest as far as troubleshooting would be to check the ring/vibrate switch on the side of your iPhone, just above the volume buttons, to make sure the ringer isn’t silenced. If the ringer is not silenced, continue to read over the information in the attached article to troubleshoot your iPhone sound.

I have no special software like numbers or anything else installed on either device. Just using the default viewer provided by apple for viewing email.

The attachment is an .xls excel 97-2003 spreadsheet. I viewed the file in the email and did not edit it with any software. I can forward the file to anyone that is may want to check it out to see if they can help me. I was wondering if there was some way of forcing another ios6 install on my phone and maybe that would solve it.
Is there anyone out there that is viewing .xls files in email using ios6 w/o any other software installed like numbers or any other add ons? I am not upgrading my ipad from ios5 to ios6 so I can still continue to view the emails on my ipad. Is there an email viewer .xls plug-in that will be availablle in the next ios6 update?
