I need a little help -- I am unable to enter a new printer -- have been trying for hours -- I sought Apple support -- only to be told my serial # is "invalid" -- so here I am !
Describe the problem you're having with your printer. Perhaps someone can help.
As for the serial number, verify that you are accurately copying your MacBook Pro's serial number from the About This Mac window as explained here:

... and that you are accurately typing it in the serial number field on this page:
Check your service & support coverage
If it reports the serial number is invalid contact Apple to have it corrected.

Itunes crashed during backup and I can't get help from apple support on the
website.
Stupid Itunes crashed on disk 41 of 46 when backing up.
There is no help available on the apple website and no way to request help on the apple website for any issue with Itunes.
How do I fix this problem?
How do I tell Itunes which disks it backup up so it won't try backing them up all over again. Did it destroy a list of what was backed up? What's going on with itunes anyways? Does it always crash when it backs up this many cds? I don't want to start all over again and ruin another 41 CDR disks trying to back it up. How do I get it to continue from where it crashed or do whatever has to be done to get it to resume where it crashed during backup?
Stupid program wouldn't let me do anything after it crashed. said it will take a minute or two (more like forever) to cancel backup. Don't even know why it was trying to cancel the backup. I didn't tell it to.Apparently there are some bugs in the latest itunes. DO NOT USE ITUNES TO BACKUP YOUR LIBRARY! UNLESS IT COMPLETES THE BACKUP, ITUNES IS NOT SMART ENOUGH TO FIGURE OUT WHICH FILES WERE BACKED UP. TECH SUPPORT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO MAKE ITUNES KNOW WHAT FILES WERE BACKED UP SO IT CAN CONTINUE FROM WHERE IT LEFT OFF. AFTER 41 CDS WORTH OF BACKUPS, ITUNES CRASHED AND IT TRIED TO CANCEL THE BACKUP BUT NEVER FINISHED DOING THAT.
SO AFTER 60 CDS WORTH AND ABOUT 6 HOURS OF WASTED TIME, THE ONLY WAY IS TO BACKUP THE ENTIRE LIBRARY ALL OVER AGAIN WHICH IS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY, TIME, AND CDS WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL WORK ANY BETTER THE SECOND TIME AROUND.
EVEN TRYING TO RESTORE FROM CDS DOESN'T TELL ITUNES TO UPDATE ITS LIST OF BACKED UP FILES. I'M SURPRISED THAT SUCH A BIG BLUNDER WITH ITUNES HAS GONE UNNOTICED.
ITS A SERIOUS ENOUGH ISSUE THAT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. I BACKED UP MY ITUNES TO HD AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS SO OBVIOUSLY ITS AN ITUNES ISSUE.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, ITS A VERY ANNOYING PROBLEM TO PUT SO MUCH TIME AND EFFORT INTO GETTING NOWHERE. -
qHow do u get help from apple support with iChat? I was able to chat with support last week to solve my problem but now the same issue is back and I don't see the option to chat now?
For what it is worth I have noticed a similar issue from the iPad3 while at work and home. At work we have two Apple TV 3rd Generation installed and tied to our A/V system. I believe the issue has to do with a timeout on the broadcast saying "here I am" and allowing devices to connect.
For example:
At work we have several Wi-Fi SSID being broadcast from Cisco APs. The only one we can use with the Apple TV is the one that uses a WEP since the others are either setup to be hidden, require web page authentication, or have a login requirement from employees. Essentially, what I believe the issue is that the Apple TV periodically broadcasts a message to other iOS devices that support Mirroring. When the Apple TV does not get a response from a device it goes into a dormant mode and requires either a command from the remote control or a reboot. This has been tested with both the power management enabled and not enabled with the same results.
As for when I come home, the Apple TV3 has not seen the device in some time and therefore is not broadcasting it's location information. A simple click of the circle or menu keys on the remote will give it the command to start broadcasting again and allow the iPad3 to see the Apple TV. When trying to Home Share the computer can not play (iTunes 11, Win8RTM) until the Apple TV is awoken then it will show up for mirroing.
This may or may not assist you but, it hopefully explains how the issue may be happening. -
Overnight my contact list went from 1492 to 52. With help from Apple I retrieved the missing contacts using Time Machine. The problems is that the contacts are not in groups as they used to be. Any suggestions? I really need them grouped for business reasons.
Also, there are no longer pictures associated with each contact.
thanks for any help anyone can give me getting contacts back into the groups that I had established. By the way, the group names are still there, but they are all empty.

How to change iCloud ID to my newly created Apple ID? The old password for the old iCloud ID no longer works so I cannot delete the old iCloud account to create a new iCloud account because the old password no longer works .... can't turn off FINE MY PHONE.
Can't do this as I cannot sign in using my old APPLE id as no password(s) will work with that old id - therefore I cannot get the other screens to perform the rest of the steps recommended. Any other suggestions?

If you're looking for fellow travelers I suggest you browse the 1000+ posts on the "My iTunes account has been hacked" thread in the iTunes for Mac forum. I don't know that you'll benefit from it other than knowing it has happened to others.
Still, you don't state a specific technical issue. You changed your password. Good. You've contacted Apple. Presumably you've asked them to refund your money which is up to them to decide. We here are just other Mac users like you with no special access to the iTunes Store people. We can provide feedback and suggestions if you have a specific question. -
I have posted two problems I am having on my iPad and I posted them sometime back. One how copy paste aren't working and how my microphone will not transcribe when I use it for email. Yet even though these were both posted months ago I still have no resolution. So i guess this is just for us to complain about our problems and sometime some one posts an idea, but they don't work. So Apple never offers us or helps us with these problems? Just trying to see if this is worth using as I thought Apple helped us!
For the copy/paste issue ...
Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

I have an ibooks file that when I make a change to a page in one chapter it adds additional pages at the end of the chapter from another chapter. Any ideas what is going on and how I can fix this?
Text pages? from what you say you are getting the auto flow function to add pages either because you have flowing text or because you have a lot of blank lines as you would if you tap return to move blank space around.

i clicked on my profile wen into mail preferences and made all the options no and clicked save. and i still recieve email notifications from apple support communities.
The photo above shows what you have set for anything new you do.
You need to unset the options for items you are already subscribed to.
Go to Your Stuff > Modifications, tick everything then click Remove.

I am receiving THOUSANDS, YES THOUSANDS of eMails from ALL Apple Support Communities.I deleted some one thousand but still more than Normal.
Please i need your Help.This is Enormous!!! I've never seen this happening! It should be a huge mistake that everybody from All Apple Support Communities

Yes the idea is to backup the laptop - I thought I would just move it all now, new - and then keep saving/dragging physically across to the new drive myself each day or two...
Would this be the sizeof the internal hard drive = c.500 gb ? = under the HD icon on desktop is written :
" 499.76gb , 311.5 gb free "
I can erase and start agin on the new external drive - so this plan is to make two partititions, rather than the one at present, and make one of them 500 gb ?
I have found CCC [carbon copy cloner] googling - looks good.
When CCC site says it backs up the hard drive - would this mean all my files [over 100 gb] that are mostly in folders on the desktop, plus the others in itunes, iphotos etc found in the HD icon, would all copy across successfully [wherever they are in the computer ] ?
