you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Is it able to get to the login screen now?

The remote lock locks the iphone with a passcode that you set. By remote wiping the device it will simply restore it and clear it of all its data, but by doing this it will prevent you tracking it and communicating with it (e.g. remote locking it) in the future

What keys do I push for this shortcut "^ F"?

I am working in a program and in order use the shortcut key commands it says ^F what key is the ^ meaning to push? When I push the shift key to get the ^ it doesn't do anything. I'm still new to this.

I have the iPad 2 (verizon). The lock rotation is always on (can't change it) and NONE of the sound effects work.

Since yesterday evening, the lock rotation icon is stuck on, and none of the sound effects work. I have factory restored and restored from a backup twice, same result. And I'v checked the headphone jack.
Am I missing something?

Assuming that you havn't turned the volume completely down, then have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar (and similarly for rotation lock) : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. What do you do when you download an app and the app doesnt work right, then you call itunes and they cant do anything about it cause it's in a different language and you come to a dead end

I downloaded the ispytoys app for the tank, the tank works but not all the features and the tank will only travel 2 feet at a time then you have to move the button forward again, I call itunes but there's nothing they can do cause its in japanese or chinese, anyway, nor itunes or I can read it, so I'm at a dead end. What are my options, this ***** cause one of the features is you can email the videos and pictures out that you take with the tank but mine wont let me. I taled to the people I bought it from but there is nothing they can do cause its in the app and itunes cant do anything about it either, so , do I live with it? Sincerely one bummed out person. If anybody can help me, I would seriosly appreciate it.

Opening PDF files causes computer to lock up

Whenever I click on any PDF attachment or file, there appears a screen with a heading "ai.icns…" that seems to be trying to open the file and the cursor just goes round and round as though it is locked up. I cannot close this screen and have to force the computer to quit. It is possible, however, to run other programs. It's just that the screen I described will not quit.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

I'm not sure which option you set. Requiring the password after 5 seconds in System Preferences > Security only kicks in after the sleep or screen saver. The smallest option for sleep or screen saver is 1 minute.

The normal practice is to use the Shift key when typing a single Capital letter, as in a name or the beginning of a sentence, and the Caps Lock key to type all caps. The easiest thing would be for you to retrain your little finger to use the Shift instead of Caps Lock. I know of no way to display an icon at the bottom of the monitor to display that the caps lock key is engaged.
