A couple hours later i wanted to turn it on again to check my emails and it didnt start up when i pushed the power buttin. i light on the lid lock bottun lights up but it does nothing else. I have a MacBook Pro. I was gone for 30 days and when I got back it tells me that my startup disk is full. I have a 500 GB drive and it shows that I have about 500 MB available. It constantly changes. How do I fix this?

I have a MacBook Pro that is telling me my startup disk is full. I left for 30 days and when I came back to use it, it tells me that the disk was full out of 500 GB. I don't have that much on it and it was perfectly fine when I left. I Verified the disk through disk utility and it told me it had issues so then I repaired it and it said everything is fine. It still says the hard drive is full. How do I fix this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My MacBook Pro was hacked. A chess board appeared and when I clicked it code scrolled all over the screen and then my desktop disappeared. It all came back but now it shows a guest user and my screen looks completely different.

Files on my computer were added. In the files were pics of my hard drive and flags. Text editor had a lot of code. Is there anyway to convert the code? Trying to see if my crazy ex did this. And did someone have to have access to my computer to do this?

Disconnect from the network.
Back up all data to at least two different storage devices, if you haven't already done so. The backups can be made with Time Machine or with a mirroring tool such as Carbon Copy Cloner. Preferably both.
Reconnect to the network.
Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup), launch Disk Utility, and erase the startup volume with the default options.This operation will destroy all data on the volume, so you had be better be sure of your backups. Quit Disk Utility and install OS X. When you reboot, you'll be prompted to go through the initial setup process. That’s when you transfer the data from one of your backups. What happens when you connect your MP3 player to your Mac? Does it show up in finder as an external drive?
If it does you can copy those MP3 file to the Mac hard drive or to another MP3 player connected to the other USB port if it shows up in finder as another external drive.

the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?

I took my iMac to be fixed and when i got it back, mail was not set up. I called Apple Support and they helped me set up mail. Then the emails went to trash on the iMac and on the MacBook Pro (same emails). There are no numbers by the 'inbox' to tell how

Now the new mail goes to trash and there is no number by the 'inbox' to tell me how many new messages I have. I cannot save a draft to 'drafts.' There is a large number by 'trash' (I think all mail went to trash - including drafts). When I send myself an emai, it goes to trash also. This is on both my iMac (the one taken in) and my MacBook Pro (same emails) which was not taken in.
I went to 'rules' but have no idea what to do there. There are no rules in the rule box. When I click 'add rule' it puts 'rule 1' in the rule box, but since that was not there when I took it in, I delete it to have an empty rule box.
Can someone pleasehelp me. I am completely stupid with all this. Do not under stand what is suppose to be set up in 'rules.'

Now new mail is coming to both computer's inboxes but there is no number on the stamp icon on dock to show number of emails on the iMac. Nor is there a number by either email address under MAILBOXES/inbox (sidebar) on the iMac. This number is showing on MacBook Pro.
I also can save drafts now on both computers.
Seems the Pro is fixed and the iMac is only missing the numbers on dock icon and by addresses in inbox.
Now that the problem is less, I feel i am wasting your time but will continue so maybe I can get those numbers back.

Apple's Mail program for email - yes, and gmail.
IMAP for both accounts.
Did not change mail configuration on MacBook.
The iMac and MacBook Pro have the same mail configuration except in Accounts/mailbox behaviours/store draft messages on the server was not marked on MacBook > it is now.
'Store junk messages on the server' was marked on one computer for gmail, but is unmarked on both now.
On the iMac, Accounts/Accounts info/Outgoing mail for gmail is smtpgmail.
On the MacBook Pro for gmail it is smpt.gmail.com (plus) my email address.
Rules/Add rule window, on the MacBook third line is 'Any Recipient', on the iMac third line is 'From."
The last box on that line has my email address on the MacBook.
The last box on that line has the last address I sent an emil to (last night), on the iMac.
On the last line on iMac, no box was selicted for 'to mailbox' > I choose 'inbox' because it is on the MacBook Pro.
Now I have a Rule #1 and am not sure I should have because there was no rules marked when I took the computer in.

Hi, yes preferences sees there is a second display it recognises what make of monitor it is etc but I just get a blank blue screen on the monitor when I change it to the hdmi setting! I have tried with mirroring on and off, rearranging the displays in the preference window and lots of different resolution settings but with no difference.
An old MacBook connects fine so the monitor and hdmi port must be okay. I'm sure we have used the cable before but it could have been with the previous MacBook Air. The current one I'm using is a mid 2011 version running lion and is (according to software update) all up to date.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!

My one day old MacBook pro just turned off and it won't come back on either through mains or battery power it's as if the unit is completely dead. Even with the mains plugged in there is no green or orange light to say its charging or full charged. The battery was fully charged anyway seconds before the screen went off.

When you say no green or orange light are you refering to the little led on the magsafe connector? That could mean either the charger/cable are bad or the circuitry in the MBP is faulty. Since this is a brand new MBP best bet is to take it back to an Apple Retail store and have the genius bar staff take a look. They can determine if it needs to be reparired or replaced.
