Exactly. Iphones have NEVER paired with other phones. Bluetooth file transfer is NOT supported. The iphone will pair with headphones, headsets, car bluetooth, and with another computer for the sole purpose of tethering internet connection.

[SOLVED] cannot 'up' my bluetooth-device

Hi,
On my macbook pro (v5.5) i only recently started tinkering with bluetooth. I remember that I got it to pair with my phone the first time I tried bluez/blueman out. Next time I tried, it didn't work anymore - probably due to an upgrade in the mean time.
My symptoms:
I followed the wiki and installed the bluez-package and blueman-package.
I start bluetooth in my rc.conf, without errormessage.
Then I start openbox and tint2 with 'ck-launch-session blueman-applet' in my autostart.sh
I immediately get a warning that my bluetooth device is not up and all the options in the blueman-applet menu are grey.
When I do:
hciconfig
I get one device, hci0, which is 'DOWN'
when I do:
hciconfig hci0 up
I get an 'unknown error (error 132)' - the device stays 'DOWN'
On the Ubuntu-forums I get similar errors, but the solution doesn't work. It could be rfkill-related in the kernel.

Yes, I read the same solution on other forums. But in order to quickly find out if my device was 'soft blocked', I installed the AUR-package.
You're right, as usual: a 'cat 1 >> /proc/<something something>' would be way more KISS. Even setting the module parameter 'default_state' seems like a better choice than mine.
On the other hand I'm planning on also installing 'rfkill-applet' so that both me and my girlfriend can *easily* switch on the bluetooth and wifi on my laptop
/EDIT: since you're on the subject: there are a lot of people/distro's affected by this, but I didn't read anywhere that this is a bug - do you know if this is the default behaviour from now on for rfkil, or that this is really a bug that will be squashed in the (near) future?

Cannot connect a Bluetooth device

Aloha:
My new Sony headset DR-BT50 shows up on the Bluetooth preferences, Paired but not connected. I do not seem to be able to connect it??
Also a Bluetooth ear piece that connects to my cell phone does not even show up on that preference panel
Any ideas?

NOTE 4 such advance cell phone device without auto answer such important safety function. It is really bad. I wish they can have this function at their next firmware update.

Certain Bluetooth ear pieces have the "auto answer" built into the headset.
The Plantronics voyager model I use will announce the call and ask you to reply accept or deny the call.
It also can be used via the top button to make or take a call.
You might want to spend more money for a higher quality ear piece.

Hi I have just bought a second hand Iphone 4S from a company online and I am trying to get Bluetooth headset paired.
I have turned the Bluetooth off and on, and the headset - I have put the bluetooth function on my other work phone a Blackberry and the iPhone is not finding them - it just keeps searching?
Tried to pair from the Blackberry and it would not work either
Can anyone suggest anything?

Stop trying. The iPhone Bluetooth does not include the necessary protocols to pair with another phone. The headset on the other hand should be OK.

Ok, so you're trying to pair a new zagg keyboard and it won't pair?
Is the battery fully charged on the keyboard? I have one and I know sometimes pairing can be tricky if the keyboard battery gets too low (and they last for months so it's easy to not realize it's run down)
Have you tried to reset the iPad? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. If you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and see if that helps.

No Bluetooth devices in My Bluetooth Places

I cannot connect any BLUETOOTH devices to my Z60t.
I have a phone and a PDA that discovers my computer but I am unable to pair them. My bluetooth radio is working and turned on.
I have been on both the Microsoft and Lenovo troubleshoting sites and have searched through countless forums but have not found anything that will help.
When I go in on My Bluetooth Places there is no option to viewBluetooth Tasks and click View Devices in Range.and there is no Entire Bluetooth Neighborhood icon. The only option I have under "file" is "close"

After downloading and installing it says it cannot find any bluetooth device.

How to get data from bluetooth device?

I'm trying to create an application in which I want to communicate with another bluetooth device for data. As I know using GameToolKit framework we can communicate with another iPhone or iPod device, but in my application I want to get data from different bluetooth device.
Is it possible in iphone SDK? If yes, can somebody help me out?

X230 Cannot connect bluetooth device

Hi All,
I know other people have posted similar issues but this one doens't match any other so I'll ask the community for help.
I have an X230 running WinXP, and I cannot find a way to add a Bluetooth device to the computer.
The latest bluetooth driver for XP is installed. The Bluetooth is enabled in the BIOS.
The Bluetooth icon is in the systray. It is Red.
All I can do is right click on it - it says "Bluetooth Device not found".
In My Computer, the My Bluetooth places icon doesn't do anything when I click it other than create a shortcut on my Desktop.
When I click the Desktop shortcut, it only runs a Bluetooth file transfer wizard sugessting Bluetooth is working.
I cannot find an add device bluetooth wizard anywhere. Can anyone help?

I’m sorry to hear that you are not able to use Bluetooth in your Lenovo ThinkPad X230.
Make sure that you have turned on the physical switch to turn on the Wireless connections.
Install hotkey drivers and turn on wireless connections using FN+F5.
