HT204370 I brought movies on my apple TV but they are not available to download on my computer, but one that I buy on my computer are available to watch on apple TV. why is that?
I have purchesed a few movies on my apple TV account eg. Superman. Unfortunelty I cannot get these items to download to my computer so I can upload them to my iPad or iPhone. Movies that I have brought my computer however are automatically download and are available to watch on apple TV. I am using the same apple account for all of my apple devices and I have clicked on downloads on my computer and yet the purchesed movies on apple TV do not appear.
I have checked in the iTunes store on my computer for the same movies I have purchased on the apple TV, but the option to download isn't there, only the option to buy. What do I do?

While watching an iTunes movie from my Apple TV, why does my movie stop playing at the 1 hour mark? I'm assuming I have a setting causing this to happen, but I have no idea what setting needs to be changed. Can someone help me?
It's right at an hour (consistently), but the computer goes to sleep prior to that. It's as if iTunes goes to sleep. Also, it wasn't always this way. Originally, the movies played through without interruption. At some point, I guess a setting was changed, and now I only get an hour. Also. My energy settings are set to go to sleep at 10 minutes.

There are a few tv shows that played this week that are not available on itunes from tnt. Why are they not available for download. We watch these each week, and I have checked to be sure that there was actually an episode this week, and there was.
Under other "sync-able" players, there's usually the "Sync only checked items" radio button. Not for the 2.0 Apple TV. There's no option, but acts as though that option ("sync only, etc...") has been selected. Figured it out after an hour of walking back and forth from my Mac to the TV. Argh.
Try it. De-select the shows, sync the AppleTV and look under the "TV Shows" and the one's you've unchecked will not be there.

My movies are type MPEG-2
I can't import my movies to work on them. They are coming from a external hard drive, not directly from the camera, its type mpeg-2 (.mts)

I am trying to import movie files into to iMovie. They are home videos so I use handbrake and VLC to put them onto the computer and convert them to MPEG-4 files. I successfully imported two of the videos but the others are not working, they are all MPEG-4 files. Now, they are not compatible. How to I get them into imovie?

It looks to be a bug. A reboot to computer and/or Apple TV may resolve it.

Why can't i buy the song Shakara by Fela Kuti from the American store if its not available from the South African store? Why is it not being made available in South Africa? It does not make sense to me, especially from such a top company that is priding itself with improving accessibility.
It's not Apple's choice, they can only sell content where the content providers grant them licenses to sell it, so if the record company hasn't granted Apple a license to sell that song in South Africa then Apple can't sell it there. You can also only buy content from your own country's store, you won't be able to buy it from the US store unless you are in the US with a US billing address on your account. -
I have a handfull of songs in my library that are not showing up bold like the other songs. When I click the icon to download from the cloud nothing happens and they will not load onto my ipod. When I look for them in the purchased area they show up as purchased and downloaded.

i have tried the terminal code thing where you enter certain words then press enter and it worked but as soon as i restarted it and opened safri the error message apperarewd again my software is OS X 10.9.1
1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to gather information about the state of your computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it on this page. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait for the script to run. It usually takes a couple of minutes. Then paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know your password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report your results. No harm will be done.
8. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Downloaded a movie on the iPad, played it once. Now get error message the "url not available on this server". How do I fix?
Where did you rent them from?
iTunes? If so are they downloaded enough that they can be played?
If from another App, its best to contact the App developer. -
i downloaded rented movies and they will not play, it says that they are on another device.
Are the files still physically on the hard drive?
You can verify that in the Download Manager window via the right-click context menu.

If Open Containing Folder and Open are grayed then the files were removed and are no longer present in the original download location. -
I can`t stream a dvd-movie to my apple tv, why?
On imac it works. as soon i use airplay, the screen gets grey. i can see the whole screen on the apple tv. only the movie window is grey.
as stated it does that because it's not legal
to transfer the stream over airplay the computer has to decrypt it
and that mean breaking the DRM of the optical media and that is not legal
you would exp the same deal if you used remote desktop / team viewer / any vnc client
