I purchased 2 movies on the iPad and they play great. When I downloaded to the Mac, I
can view chapters, extras, more, but when I click on Play, the movie will not play, but I
can hear the music. Any suggestions?

I am having problems viewing movies I rented from Itunes!

Happy holidays everyone! So I rented 2 movies from my 2nd Gen Apple TV this morning. The content loads without an issue but it will not validate the authorization to play the movie. I checked the software and reupdated it accordingly. Now, mysteriously, the rented movies no longer appear in my start up menu and I still have the same problem with not being able to play the rented content. My Netflix account streams media with no difficulty. Whats the deal? Any ideas?

Hi, I have the same problem. It keeps trying to authorize - one time it said servers down try later. I tried again, then it seemed to lock in authorizing mode, so I restarted. I must have clicked on the film a number of times to view, and finally it said that it has been rented! But it disapeared from the start up menu as rented. Maybe something is going on because of the holidays - too many of us, Anyone else out there?

Problem viewing movies in netflix with 32 version

when i got to view a movie, firefox wants to start in 32 bit mode.. i say okay but apparently it no longer reloads in 32 bit mode because it keeps asking me to restart in 32 bit mode. help!!

You can use these steps to start Firefox in 32 bit mode:
#Close Firefox
#Start the Finder and open the Applications folder
#Right click or control-click the Firefox.app icon
#Select "Get Info"
#Select or Deselect "Open in 32-bit mode"
#Close the "Firefox Info" window # Restart Firefox

I purchased a movie on my second Gen Apple TV and when I try to watch it on my 1st Gen Apple TV I get a message that my apple tv is not authorized to play this content!!! Not good...!!!

This should happen automatically.
ctrl-click on the Apple TV in the iTunes list, you should get an option to transfer purchases, if not or choosing it doesn't help you may need to re-pair the Apple TV with your library, settings > computers > iTunes library and disconnect, this will erase synced content but not purchased content that hasn't transferred, to reconnect settings > computers > connect to iTunes (not shared library).

Problems viewing exported .mov file from Mac for viewing on PC

I am working with a reporter who has a PC at home while I am editing a video for her using FCE 4.1 on a MacBook Pro, using HD footage from a Canon Vixia HF20 AVCHD camera. I burned a draft of the video we are working on for her to look at on her home PC, exporting the FCE project as a straight .mov file. But she could not view it on her PC even though she has viewed .mov files on her computer in the past (but this is the first time she has tried to look at .mov file exported from FCE on a Mac). What might the issue here be? Do I need to export the file in a different way? Might she have an older version of Windows Media Player or be unable to view certain versions of .mov files on her computer? Should I hand it off to her instead as an .mp4 file? Any help much appreciated.

You'll need to copy the Apple HDV Codec to your MacBook. Since it won't be Intel native (unless you get FCP 5.1) you'll have to force QuickTime Player to run in Rosetta; it should be a setting in the Get Info window for QT Player. You should then be able to view the video (though I haven't tested this myself).

Problems viewing 1080i/60 .mov files

I am having problems viewing 1080i/60 .mov files. When I open the file, it shows all white. I have exported some HD footage shot on my HVX 200. I am using FCP 5.0.4. I also have created some animated clips from Vue 6 Infinite and it does the same thing.
I have Quicktime Pro 7.1.5
does anyone have any suggestions on what to do, or what I need to download in order to have this work?

Export from Final Cut using the Apple Intermediate codec to view in QuickTime.
You've probably exported using an HDV codec only used by Final Cut.

I am somewhat new at this. I have a new Apple TV and have successfully rented and viewed movies using it. Today there was a movie I wanted to watch that could only be purchased. I decided to purchase. Went through the process and received the alert that the movie was ready to be viewed. When I selected it to be viewed, I received an error message that stated that this Apple TV was not authorized to view this content. I am sure I paid the 9.95 through itunes and now I can't view the movie. Did I do something wrong in set-up?

Use tv to view movies

I have a Blusens M94 TV and I want to view movies and fotos (MP4s and jpegs) using an eternal hard drive plugged into the tv. I used OSX to format the 500 GB WD as FAT 32 as required by Blusens, but the TV will not recognize files I have written with my Macbook (but will play commercially produced dvds). Even if the file recognition problem is solved- aren't FAT 32 files limited to 4 GBs? Many of my MP4s exceed this size. Blusens people are not helpful and can only suggest that I get a windows computer. Any recommendations?

The Engadget review of Apple TV (September, 2010) expressly states "And of course, you can't sideload any content or playback from a standalone hard drive". This would seem to rule out just reformatting the external drive and the implication would be that another devise- a computer- connected to the Apple TV- would be necessary. Am I missing something?

Strange problem viewing web sites.

Hi everybody,
I am having a strange problem viewing web sites. There are certain web sites that when viewed on my mac certain content that shows up on other computers (mac and pc) does not seem to show up on my mac. At first I thought it was a safari problem and maybe I installed a filter or some thing but regardless what browser I use, the content is not there. For instance: Spinepodium.com one of the sites I am building - I just recently added Google Adsense to the page. When I view the page on other computers (mac and pc) the ads show up just fine. However on my mac it is as if the code is just not there. I have noticed similar things on other pages as well.
Any help would be great.

As I suggested, install the Flip4Mac plug-in. After installing, open the preference file via System Preferences>Flip4Mac. On the Plug-in panel, 1st and 3rd boxes are checked. On the Movies panel, 1st box is checked.
Just in case, go to the Utilities folder>Disk Utility and "repair permissions" via the First Aid panel (click on your HD on the left of the window, "repair permissions" will appear on the right. Restart the computer. Try the video in Safari.
