HT204379 Is it possible to reset or delete the screen saver preferences for default?
When I go to change my screen saver preferences it asks me to log into my server before it shows me my photo options, I was wondering if there was a way to reset that so it didn't pop up each time I go to screen saver preferences.
Well that was my though as well and yet....hah.
In a single page multi-state environment you say I shouldn't be able to pull the page off the screen (and then have it snap back) vertically with "horizontal swipe only" checked off?
Anything funny with the preview viewer or anything?

I'm running an imac 27 i7 with fully up-to-date snow leopard. I have my screen saver set to an aperture smart folder with family photos. Periodically, the machine switches the screen saver folder to a completely unrelated folder of about five photographs. It's annoying, to say the least.
I'd like to delete the screen saver preferences and see if that helps. How do I find them?

When you go to system preferences>desktop & screen savers>desktop. On the left is a window with the names of the images listed. Apple Images, Nature file, Plants file, Picture Folder, Choose Folder and so forth. The ones that come with Apple products. Not sure what all else is native to Apple.
Iv been using my own desktop background since the day I got the iBook. Normally I just get one photo or image and more it there to use. But, last week I did something different or wrong. Maybe holding a button to long, not sure. Instead of moving the one photo it moved the entire photo file. That file had over 200 (2,500x1,800 in size & over 550KB for each) and probably closer to 250 photos in it.
Way to many to be there. And I simply can't find a way to remove that file from the desktop list. I can high light it, but it doesn't delete with the delete button. I can high light it, but it doesn't change anything in system preferences banner to edit, view, etc....to remove it either. It won't click & drag to trash.
Being very careful because I don't want to delete the file and by error delete it totally off the computer. I could creat a new file with only 1 photo in it for use as the desktop background. Then try to choose that file. However, since the last big OS-X update it's been doing this. Everytime I choose a file or photo it's adding the entire file not just the 1 photo. And Iv managed to add 3 files so far to that list.

I recently bought a used macbook pro. I can pretty much do everything I need on it until I want to change setting and such things. Then it asks me for an administrator password which I do not know or have. On top of that I do not have the OS disc either. Is there a way I can SAFELY reset or delete the password so I can set my own without the possibility of screwing thing up. LIke I said I can do most anything. I figured this out when attempting to tether it to my smartphone for internet access (I do all the time from my desktop but my desktop is a PC so things are a little different) I am a very new mac user, I have always been a devoted PC user until now. I have to say I am really loving my macbook pro I may just stick with mac from now on (if I can get this problem figured out without too much stress.
I am looking for the safest and best way to fix this issue where nothing I do would mess up the laptop. I can use it now and I do not want that to change, I just want to be able to change my setting and set a password of my own. PLEASE HELP, THANX!Hi
There actually is a slightly easier way in OS X 10.5 or greater.
1. Start up in single-user mode (hold Command-S as the computer starts up).
2. Type: mount -uw /
3. Press Return.
4. Type this:
passwd (user's short name)
Replace "(user's short name)" with the short name of the user account whose password you wish to reset. If you are not sure what the account name is, you can get a list of user names by typing: ls /Users
5. Press Return.
6. Enter a new user password.
7. Press Return.
8. Type: reboot
9. Press Return. -

I forgot my icloud id and password. i want to delete the id. i forgot the password. if i try to delete the account its asking for password. i cannot find how to delete the account. Please anyone can help me out???
You aren't going to be able to delete it without the correct password. If it's your ID, you can reset the password as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625. If it isn't your ID, you will have to get the password for the person who owns the ID. There's no way around this and no one else can help.

Why do you need to access your email? To reset the password?
If you're trying to change the password, you don't need to go to your email. If you know the answers to your security questions, you can reset it without using an email, as explained in the first section of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5787. Try to backup and restore you device in itunes...restoring the device is like removing the iOS software off the device and re-add in a newer software, after you have restore you device, MAKE SURE YOU SET UP YOUR DEVICE LIKE A NEW DEVICE, DONT NOT RESTORE FROM BACKUP!!... give the device a chance to use the newer software and see if the issue still persisting, if the issue still on going then its would be a hardware issue.
Call Apple Care and see if your device is still under warranty to get it replace -
Is it possible to disable the screen saver for a certain app?
Is it possible to disable the screen saver just while a certain application is running?
The app seems to crash when the screen saver comes on.
Just so you know, application I'm using is Hogwasher; a newsgroup reader.Not really. Just disable it manually when you run that application. Then, send off a bug report to the app's developer and tell him to update it for the latest Tiger. Alternatively, use another newsgroup reader.

Sorry, there is nothing you can do until the device is removed from the sellers Apple ID.

i just downloaded a screen saver a few weeks ago, but then decided i didn't want it
i went into my library and then in the screen saver folder, and deleted it
when i went back in system preferences, it was still there, and it still works
it was a 10 day demo so now i keep on getting a pop-up saying my demo is over and i either have to register or remove the trial
i click on "remove trial" and i get another pop up saying
"the serene saver 2 hd uninstaller is missing from /library/application support/serene saver scenes. it's called 'uninstall serene saver' you will have to manually remove serene saver from the /library/screen savers folder then reboot."
the problem is, i already did that a while ago
i was wondering if i would maybe have to re-download serene saver and then remove it

My iPhone will not respond even once it is hooked to iTunes nor will it respond when I hit the power (reset) button. The screen mentions that the system is checking for "borrowed blocks" (small writing in the top right corner).
Are you using the charger and cable that came with the phone?

Apple ID problem on iPhone 5: Cannot log in to verified address or reset or delete the address
My Apple ID included my name and our company's domain, so to make things like calendar invites a bit more anonymous as they fly around the web, a while back I went to https://appleid.apple.com and changed my Apple ID to correspond to a more anonymous email address.
While on https://appleid.apple.com I registered and verified the original email address as an Alternate Email Addresses.
It seemed like it was hard or impossible to change some things, like my iPhone 5, to use the new Apple ID with iCloud, because it only allows me to enter a password, not change the account's email address.
In general it seemed like everything still worked, though, until the recent update to iOS 7.
In iOS 7 > settings > iCloud, it's asking me to "Sign in to iCloud" and to "Enter the Apple ID password for "[my old Apple ID email address]." But when I do enter the password, it doesn't accept it and simply tells me to again to "Sign in to iCloud..." and to "Enter the Apple ID password..."
I thought perhaps it was confusing my old ID w/ an old password, but neither old or new passwords work.
After doing research in the Apple Support Communities, I found some saying that I'd just have to go to the bottom of the iCloud screen and it the "Delete Account" button. Frustrated, I did. But whether I next selected "Keep on My iPhone" or "Delete from My iPhone" the next thing is says is "Password Required" and "Enter the Apple ID password for "[my old Apple ID email address]."
Since that's the very thing that isn't possible for me (always giving the error "Your Apple ID or password is incorrect") I:
went to https://iforgot.apple.com and entered my old Apple ID (which, again, is verified still in my Apple ID account as an Alternate Email Address)
clicked "next"
selected "Email authentication: To access your information, we will send an email to the address(es) on file for you."
clicked "next"
and go this message, "Email has been sent."
However... it never sent the message to that email account. So I did it again multiple times. Then I went and checked spam filters. Then I looked at email logs on the server... Nope... it is not sending the message.
In desperation I decided to just wipe the phone clean and start afresh through iTunes, where I clicked "Restore iPhone..." When I did a dialogue box popped up that said, "Find my iPhone must be turned off before [iPhone 5's name] can be restored. Go to iCloud Settings on your iPhone and turn off Find My iPhone before restoring your iPhone."
On the phone in settings > iCloud, there is a "Terms and Conditions" blue link that I "Agreed" to, which gives me access in iCloud to turn off Find My iPhone, but as soon as I do, the Apple ID password for that old email address is demanded, again... and of course I don't have it...
In researching I read that perhaps another alias could be added to my https://www.icloud.com > email > preferences > accounts, but as it turns out the alias can't be my old Apple ID. It has to be an alias that include @icloud.com in the address.
What can I possibly do, now, please?Well, in my case things have turned out well.
Apple Supports' highest level personnel talked to the Apple engineers. The Apple engineers said that if I had a receipt for my phone that they would be able to release the phone's Apple ID. I did have the receipt, because thankfully the Apple Store emailed it to me when I made the in-store purchase, so I emailed it them along w/ a link to this discussion because they were asking for a description of the scenario.
A couple days later they emailed me saying:

Ouch.
I then recontacted the Apple Support person who had been helping me. He said he'd talked for 45 minutes with the Apple engineers and had one *last* idea.
He had me log into https://appleid.apple.com/ > Password and Security, then he had me delete my Rescue Email Address (which was the same as my old/original Apple ID that has been stuck on my iPhone 5's iCloud account).
After doing that he had me go to the Name, ID, and Email Adresses tab (which you see when you first log into https://appleid.apple.com/) and change my newer Apple ID back to my old original one. (Note: An email is required to verify each of these account changes.)
Then I went into my iPhone's settings > iCloud, and YAY!!!! it let me log into my account! Then I went to the bottom of the iCloud screen and deleted the account.
Then I went back into Apple ID, logged in, and deleted the old Apple ID, re-entered my new one, and saved it. (Note: An email is required to verify each of these account changes.)
Then I went back to my phone and entered my Apple ID's email address and password... and it worked!
Now I just need to fix some stuff that got goofed up in all of the experimenting.
If anyone else on the planet has read this much, I would recommend going back in and adding all the info you can to your Apple ID so that your backup addresses and aliases are right.
Final thought: My problem was a result of an error/problem with Apple's product. I kind of wish it was like other industries that try to compensate for their own mistakes (restaurant = free meal, airline industry = upgrade, etc.) because this took a LOT of my time. But I do appreciate the support workers' perseverance in helping. -
If Ctrl+Alt+Shift buttons not working to reset your adobe photoshop cs5.1 preference to default
How to reset Photoshop preferences (In Windows):
First, hold down all three Ctrl+Alt+Shift buttons
Now "while keeping those button held," simply open Photoshop or a file that opens with Photoshop
As Photoshop loads, you should get a prompt asking if you would like to "delete the Photoshop settings file", Click yes
You should now have a fresh slate with all of the settings returned to their default.
Its strange some keyboard cannot reset photoshop after you press Ctrl + Alt + Shift buttons.
And its no pop up to confirm delete
At finally i found the problems is type of my keyboard not compatible with photoshop
i changed my old keyboard immediately and its works!!

Using the desktop slideshow, I have added a file from dropbox for the slideshow. If I delete the dropbox file, does that delete the file from the list on the slideshow? Do I need to leave the file on the computer itself rather than in the dropbox and then delete it from the dropbox?
