HT204380 FaceTime is not connecting
I can see someone calling me but it will not connect to them when I hit accept and the same thing is happening to them when I call.
What happens if (for others, since I see you are not using an iPhone so can not make a voice cell call) you make a cell call first, then enable/reqeust facetime? I find that if I make a facetime call, both sides see the dreaded "connecting...." until it gives up. But if I make a cell call first, then switch over it works better. It still was giving "poor connection", despite both ends having excellent conectivity. I think in both cases it will end up using wifi despite the 2nd method starting on cellular.
it is most annoying and is something I did not experience prior to IOS 6 (both ends are running 6.1.2)

I recently updated my MacBook Pro to the new software, and now my iMessage and my FaceTime are not connected with my phone number like it is supposed to be. How do I get them to match so that I would be able to use my cellphone number on my notebook?
To reset any OS X program just go to the folder and trash the affected files.
Open a new Finder Window
Click "Go" in the above status bar
Click and HOLD the "option/alt" key and you will see "Library" now show in the above list
Click Library while still holding the option/alt key and a new window will open with all of your system files
Go to the preference file (NOT Preference Panes)
Locate a file named <com.apple.FaceTime.bag.plist>
Locate another file named <com.apple.FaceTime.plist>
Locate the file <com.apple.iMessage.bag.plist>
Drag the files to the trash
Delete the trash
Close FaceTime and iMessage if not already closed
Relaunch FaceTime and iMessage from Applications folder
This should reset the program back to default. You will have to put your information back into the program but it should work.
Good Luck. -
FaceTime is not connecting on my iPad mini; however, it is working on my MacBook Pro. What can I do to get facetime back on my iPad?
Right now the best thing to do is be patient. The last six days many people have been reporting problems with FaceTime. The source of the problems remains unknown.

FaceTime will not connect no matter how I try to fix the situation.
After numerous attempts to resolve the problem FaceTime refuses to connect. Both the recipient and I are connected to WiFi networks that work fine, I have tried restarting my phone multiple times, disabling FaceTime and re-enabling it, restarting my router, and calling the recipient then attempting to enable FaceTime and all that occurs is it rings constanly until it shows a message saying it can not connect. Neither I nor the recipient receive any notification when the other is attempting to call. Any ideas what the problem is and any suggestions of how to fix it? Thanks.
Hi, I have the same problem here too.. any solution? Is it because I'm using mac for FT? I tried using FT between Ipad and Ipod touch and it was fine.

Facetime HD not connected?
I have a macbook pro from late 2011. It came with OS X Lion and ever since i upgraded it to Mountain Lion the camera doesnt work. It doesnt make sense because it doesnt seem to be a software problem. When i go to facetime, photo booth, oovoo, or any other applicate it says the camera is not connected or there is no camera. After i restart, shut down, and turn it back on the camera will work but the second i move my screen up or down it shuts off and it wont turn back on. It goes back to saying not connected. Also sometimes it turns off and on constantly while im in photo booth. Anyone have an idea or had the same problem? Also its from 2011 so theres no waranty and im guessing if i bring it to apple they will make me pay for a new one even though i have never dropped or damaged this computer at all. Thanks for the help.

You must find out where the problem is before you can determine what to fix.
(1) Her friends need to read http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319 and test with others to see if they can FaceTime with anybody or if their problem is ONLY with your daughter.
(2) Your daughter can go to at least one other wi-fi hotspot(s) to see if she can still FaceTime to your Mac at home.
(3) Your daughter can try FaceTime with her friends from the other wi-fi hotspot(s).

TS3367 my facetime will not connect it just rings without connecting
Facetime not connecting since upgrading to ios7
If you read TS3367 you would have noticed it said
With FaceTime, you can participate in video calls with another FaceTime user over a Wi-Fi network connection or a cellular data connection. This article outlines the system requirements for FaceTime and provides basic troubleshooting steps to resolve FaceTime activation and usage issues.
It can work with cellular if the carrier provides for it -
HT204380 FaceTime may not be available on devices purchased or used in certain countries
IPHONE 4S PURCHASED FROM MIDDLE EAST, BUT NOW USING AT INDIA.
GUIDE ME HOW TO GET FACETIME.
I AM USING IMESSAGE & ITS WORKING FINE.FaceTime is not available on iPhones sold in the Middle East. The local governments prohibit FaceTime so these iPhones have FaceTime disabled and there is no way to enable it even if the iPhones are used in other countries.

Hi everyone,
I am using OS X 10.7.3 2011 Macbook Pro 2.2 Ghz Intel Core I7 8GG 1333MHz DDR3 RAM 500GB HD.
What happens when I try to call someone in FaceTime: Webcam light is on and I see myself on my screen. It rings and after a while it says "X is not available for FaceTime (or similar).
In iChat I can text chat, but video calls do not work. In Skype, I can do audio talking, but when I try to use my video, it fails to connect.
This seems to indicate to me that there is a system-wide, rather than user or program-specific problem, in which my system cannot connect to others when using my webcam.
Can anyone offer any guidance on this matter? I am pretty tech savvy. On my home network I have tried port forwarding/opening and all that, without luck. I am worried that maybe I could have made a mistake in terminal or something some time ago, but I don't go in there very often and it is usually for very specific things.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am moving away for four months, and I really need this to work so that I can chat with my lovely girlfriend. Please see the notes below prior to commenting.
Cheers
Notes:
Internet is working fine. I use three different network, one of which is wired and works fine.
I have tried to create new users, still no luck
Webcam works fine in PhotoBooth
I am logged into FaceTime properly (this is simple, right?)
Reinstalling OS X to fix this problem is not an option
I have tried FaceTime with several people with several devices (e.g., iPad, iMac, iPhone)
FaceTime on my iPhone works with other people on same networkPlease read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
