It flips to confirm my email address and then flips back to the sign in screen right away before I can confirm it. what should I do?

Thanks, Andrew for your help. Not sure if you will see this, but I did the above and it said the HD was okay. Rebooted it and still won't go past login page. Tried it again and this time typed in the line /sbin/fsck -fy and then it came up and said HD was okay, but said something about being modified. I once more rebooted, but it still won't get past the login screen. Besides taking long to reboot, as before, I am able to enter my password, but then it hangs up with the rainbow icon rotating continuously. Does this mean that the disk is corrupt or partially so, and if so, can you advise how I should proceed? TIA again.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

MD G4 can't get past the log in screen

Trying to diagnose what's wrong with the trusty mirrored doors G4. The light goes on when I press the power button, the chime sounds, but can't get past the log in screen, and the mouse arrow is stuck on the left top of the screen; I can't get the mirrored door to open, to try starting with the original cd; can't get to how to start it from an external drive.
At this point I'm not going to spend much $ to save this computer which has served as a backup device for the past 3 years, but would like to get in one more time to make sure I have everything I want to save. Suggestions?

If you have enabled remote log in and know how to ssh into the Mac from another computer - reply and I'll walk you through the commands to look at the logs before you log in from the keyboard.
If not - you should boot from a CD and try to repair the disk and possibly look at the logs using the console utility.
Please advise if you want to look at the logs to see what the problem is or if you can fix it from using the CD's to repair the disk.

Claudius,either you didn't read my post, or you jumped to conclusions. I had a skype account that was created using a microsoft account (NOT THE ACCOUNT I AM USING NOW). PURE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT NO OTHER ACCOUNT LINKING.I had to change the primary mail of that account.I was told "no can do" by skype support.I found that if I went to account settings and clicked on the link on the line below the one that said "MICROSOFT etc" (labeled something along the lines of "TV or Device") I got the opportunity to set the password of the "live:username" account (WHICH YOU COINCIDENTALLY HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO USE SMART TVs ETC).Once that was done, I COULD SUCCESSFULLY DO WHAT SKYPE SUPPORT SAID WAS IMPOSSIBLE- I could change the primary mail address. once that was done, and NOT BEFORE, I linked the account to a facebook account as well, just to be sure I have more than one way to access the skype account. I can't get past the grey apple screen using mavericks

I can't get past the grey apple screen trying to boot up with Mavericks. I had been using Mavericks for about a month (only had issues of freezing occasionally). I read in one of the posts here that I should try holding command R down when booting. I did now I just get a grey screen without the apple. Any advise?

It sounds like the initial install of Mavericks went ok, and you have been using it for a while, but now cannot boot to your desktop and are stuck at a gray screen with an Apple logo. I would recommend a couple of things here:
First, try performing a Safe Boot to see if that will load up for you. If so then leave Safe Boot and restart from the Apple menu to try and get to your deskop:
To start up into Safe Mode (to Safe Boot), follow these steps.
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key.
The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
After the logo appears, you should see a progress bar during startup. This indicates that your computer is performing a directory check as part of Safe Mode.
To leave Safe Mode, restart your computer without holding any keys during startup.

I can't get past the Gray apple screen during start-up Help!!!

I went to open my system pref. folder and when it wouldnt open I restarted it and now I can't get past the first screen of the Gray screen with the apple in the middle and the little spinning circle under it. Can anyone help me? have had several problems with this computer!!! I just had to have a whole new harddrive put in about a month ago.

The first thing to do would be to boot from your original Disk 1 by:
1. Inserting the disc, pressing the power button, and immediately after the startup chime, press and hold the C key until you see the spinning gear icon appear on the grey splash screen.
2. After the machine has booted, pick your language, and when the Installer window appears, do not press Continue, but go to the Utilities menu in the menubar and open Disk Utility.
3. In Disk Utility, choose your normal startup volume in the pane on the left and then click Repair Disk. If any errors show in the window, run Repair Disk again until you see 'The volume appears to be OK' in green.
4. Quit Disk Utility, quit the installer and attempt to restart into your regular startup volume.

How do I get past the set up screen after restoring a new iPad 2 from an iTunes backup. I'd like to sync my apps on my iTunes to my iPad.

What setup screen? I have restored from a backup several times and the iPad always syncs when the process is complete. What are you seeing on the setup screen?

HT204268 Can't get past the credit card screen when converting AOL username to Apple ID

After adding my credit card info when converting my AOL username to an Apple ID, I get the following pop up message: "Your request is temporarily unable to be processed. Please try again later." I have tried for two days now. I have changed the credit card, changed the new apple ID, and my personal information, all resulting in the same error message.
Anyone have any suggestions? I am using iTunes 12.1.0.50

Sure thing. Here are my steps:
1) Login with AOL screen name into iTunes.
2) Pop up appears with the message "You need to change your account to use an Apple ID...". I select "Update Account".
4) "Change to Use an Apple ID" screen appears. I select "Continue".
5) "Edit Apple ID Details" screen appears. I then enter my email and password for a NEW Apple ID. (Note: If I enter in an email of an existing Apple ID, I get an error and cannot pass the screen. If I enter in a truly new email for a new Apple ID, the error disappears). Once info is in, I select "Continue".
6) "Review Your Address" screen appears. I can also update credit card information here. The Security Code is missing by default, so I must enter it in. If I enter in a wrong Security Code, I get an error to "Please enter valid Security Code". Once I enter in the correct info, I select "Continue".
7) Pop up appears with the message "Your request is temporarily unable to be processed. Please try again later."
I have gone through this process a number of times, trying to change things slightly in various screens to see if I get a different result. It appears I simply cannot get past the "Review Your Address" screen.

ok i know there is a way to make your printer "get past" where it tells you that you need to replace the ink cartridge, and it just might not show the right ink levels. i know this because i have gotten past it before, I just do not remember how. to all of you out there reading this that know...PLEASE help!! look, i am a single mom working 2 jobs and hardley have enough money to feed my kids and put gas in my car with what i make no i dont need sympathy i just need to know how to get past this issue. I understand that you're getting a 'Low Ink' message on the front panel of your HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer and would like to bypass this message. The ink system in your specific model of printer requires ink to be in the cartridges for the printer to function. Ink is required for printing, but also for regular maintenance on your printer. The Semi-Permanent Printheads within your product control ink for going on the page. If your printer is not able to perform regular maintenance because it has empty ink cartridges installed, damage may be caused to the Printheads. Should the Printheads become clogged or defective they will also need to be replaced. For additional ink usage information please click here. When printing from your computer, colour ink may be used to print black, depending on the program that you're printing from. If you prefer to print in only black ink and save your colour cartridges you can set your print driver to 'Black Ink Only'. However, your printer cannot be in an error state for these changes to take affect. Therefore, if you would like to adjust your print driver setting to use only Black ink when printing black only documents, you will need to replace your depleted cartridges first. I can't get past the iWork welcome screen in iCloud

I have recently bought and installed Pages and Numbers for my iMac and iPhone 4s. I have an apple id. I have turned on icloud in system preferences on both my iphone and on my mac and checked everything, including documents and data. Mail syncs, calendar syncs, find my phone works... but when I click on iWorks in iCloud.com in Safari, all I get is the "learn about" and and "get Pages for ios." I can't drag documents there as others have talked about. I did manag soehow to get a pages document on my mac to icloud using iTunes, but darned if I can remember how I did it.
Is it possible to get a pages document to icloud without going through itunes, and how do I do it?

Winston! You are my hero! Here's the story....
I have an original .mac account, migrated to .me whenever that happened. For what it's worth, both email addys are functional and interchangable, for the most part. When I migrated to icloud, my mail wouldn't work. After talking to a techie, we came to the conclusion that I had to sign in with the old .mac account. Everything icloud is signed in with my .mac account and works... except documents.
So,today I signed in today with the .me extension, and guess what! Documents works! I'm used to just putting "jhamlinx2" in the account part and sign in.
