hello, i bought an iPhone 4s and when i open it and start using i opened settings to activate facetime but i didn't found facetime icon ! i have been notified about this problem in this article that its not allowed in sudia arabia where i bought it , but after one month i bought 3 iphone devices 4s and all have facetime.
how could it be ? and how could i fix it ?!

There is no FaceTime app for the iPhone. FaceTime, on an iPhone, is accessed through the Contacts app. You tap the FaceTime ico to make a FaceTime call. Is FaceTime turned on/activated: Settings>FaceTime>On. Do you have that Setting? If you don't have that Setting, where did you get your phone? In a few countries FaceTime is banned, and if you obtained your phone from one of these countries, you won't have that Setting, & there is no way to add FaceTime to your phone.

No iPhone has a facetime icon. It is built into iOS.
Go to Settings, scroll down to Facetime (should be between Phone and Safari). Turn it on. and enter the information requested.

On my iPad Air, I have deleted the FaceTime icon from many of my listed Contacts. Is there a way to restore the icon and FaceTime facility to selected contacts?

Some of my contacts in Contacts have the Facetime icon in their listing, some don't. I guess I've deleted it from those where it's missing, though not sure how! How can I get it back when it's missing? in Edit, I can add new email addresses, phone numbers etc, but I can't figure out how to add FaceTime to a listing.

I just purchased my first iPhone last week (the 6, 16gb) and I transferred all of my contacts over through my gmail. Previously I had a regular old Android prepaid phone. Anyway, all of my contacts that I had backed up transferred over through the settings, and all of my contacts that I know have an iphone have the 'FaceTime' icon under their contact info, except for one. He is an iphone and I simply am unable to figure out the problem!
I have gone under the settings, then to Facetime, to make sure Facetime was on. I also had him do the same thing.
When I make a regular phone call to him the Facetime button is illuminated, but when clicked, it says that 'Dad' is not available for FaceTime.
BUT until today when a regular phone call was made, the Facetime button wasn't illuminated at all. Any ideas?

The facetime icon is missing on my iPhone's home screen. It is still listed among the apps in my settings, so I don't think I deleted it. How do I get it back?

I beg to differ -- I have an iPhone5 and until today, I *DID* have a FaceTime icon on my phone, and I used it frequently. I'm very annoyed by its disappearance.

You don't. iPhones, unlike iPads and iPods do NOT have a FaceTime icon. Never have. You access FaceTime through the contacts.

I don't have FaceTime, , though I have input their email addresses? How can I get FaceTime? I have an iPhone 4 with the latest OS installed! (this iPhone was purchased overseas, would that be the problem)? Is it an Apple problem or my carrier (AT&T)? My son with the same plan and I think the same phone has facetime (maybe he has iPhone4 S? I am not sure though!

I am guessing you said that once in a contact there is no Facetime button to select. There is no Facetime icon anywhere else on the phone. Where was the phone purchased? If it is a phone purchased in a country where the government has restricted Facetime, it has been removed from the phone. There is no way to get it back. If that is not it, check in settings and see if Facetime is turned on and activated.

First question where ae you located? If you're in the Middle East or UAE, factime has been restricted by the government.

Check all of your folders to see if FaceTime is in any of them.
If not, check your restrictions (Settings>General>Restrictions) and if restrictions are on, and you know the passcode, then FaceTime might be turned off. Turn ON to veiw icon on home screen.
Let me know if this does/doesnt work.

Facetime is blocked in UAE and KSA per government regulations.
Restriction is based on serial number and taking the iPhone to
another country will not allow installation of FaceTime. There have
been reports of gray market iPhones being sold in the middle east
which do have FaceTime. Such iPhones have no warranty and
usually have been hacked to operate in the Middle East which
causes all sorts of problems.

I belive I had Face Time icon on my Italian iPhone4 (Vodafone IT). Later I loaded FaceDial but I do not know if it worked (I am not so interested in it). I have FaceTime on my Mac and I use it from there
Yesterday I bought e new iPod Touch 4 for my wife and she has Face Time. Do not know if it works, will check.
I have noticed that on my iPhone FaceTime has disappeared and was guessing may be FaceDial killed it.
Deleted FaceDial. Nothing, no FaceTime Icon. THen I relized I have to activate it in the Preferences as reported here in the forum. I did. THer iPhone connected to Vodafone adn apparently Face Time is activated (the Phone even displays a message about the possible cost of the SMS activation by Vodafone). But still no FaceTime Icon.
Then I decided to install FaceDial again and ... IT WORKS.
It connects on WiFi even with Phone Off...
I would like to know wich is the part played by the Telephone company in all this if the connection is over WiFi and in my case not the same telefone company of iPhone contract..
