What methods can I use for transferring mac to mac?

Hi,
I'll be soon upgrading to a MBP, before I can do that I need to sell my MB. I will have a period of time without a MB of any kind so I need a way to keep my files safe to transfer when I get ahold of my MBP.
I had some ideas like Dropbox for Photos, thumb drive for files, but can I use my ipad or ipod to store music that I didn't buy on itunes to then sync when I transfer? Will music files come off my ipad/ipod when I change or will they be deleted when I sync?
Is there any other way to securly transfer data?

The best thing is to buy an external drive and make a backup of your data in Time Machine. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
During the initial setup of your new MacBook Pro, it will ask you to restore a backup, so plug your external drive and follow its steps. Your MacBook Pro will be the same as your old Mac after restoring the backup. Doing this, you will also void problems with your iPod, because all the things that weren't purchased in the iTunes Store will be removed if you sync the iPad and iPod with the new iTunes library.
If you don't want to get an external drive, there are other things you can do. If you have non-purchased music in the iTunes Store and it's stored in the iPad or iPad, you can use an application like Senuti to transfer them to your new MacBook Pro. Respecting to your photos, you can use a cloud photo service like Picasa

You mean the phase pumping? Or are you just looking for an old TV (bad reception, video tape) effect? For the latter, do a search on Google. There's a ton of tutorails and presets for it. For a simple phase pumping, you only need to move a gradient infinitely acrross the screen, which can be done easily with a pre-composed Ramp effect and a Motion Tile on top of it. And before you get too creative changing the direction: remeber, that the cathode's electron ray strictly travels top to bottom, so any angular behavior is merely caused by the time differential between the lines, not the ray doing a limbo dance or something...

What do you mean by photo gallery? Are you referring to what version of the iPhoto application? What version came with your iMac?
iPhoto 8.1.2 would be a good choice for that system and limited amount of memory. It comes on the iLife 09 disc which is available from 3rd party vendors like Amazon.com or eBay.com.
If you can add memory to your iMac do so. Increasing memory to 4 GB will do wonders for the speed of the system and applications.

The Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper, or similar software. For best results, place the second drive inside the computer or in a FireWire enclosure and boot the computer from it before removing the internal drive.

Go to the Apple menu and select "About This Mac". You will get a window similar to this one -
You current OS X version number will be shown as I've marked.
OS X 10.4.x is Tiger, 10.5.x is Leopard, 10.6.x is Snow Leopard, 10.7.x is Lion, and 10.8.x is Mountain Lion.
Whether or not you can go to the latest OS X version depends upon your hardware -
You will need to purchase the retail set for the OS X version you want; there is no pint in getting and installing any intermediate versions. Once the retail version has been installed, you can update it to the latest release for that version via download updater.
