HT204388 Macmini (osx 10.8.3) with audio problems on HDMI.

I just bought a new Macmini, and it is connected to a Philips Led tv by HDMI. But the audio is not working properly. Some times it works fine and sometimes it is just not working. The solution is sleep the Macmini and wake it up back (sometimes several times). Any one have a suggestion?

Have you tried a PRAM reset?

Sounds like the video files might not be in the correct format for use with the iPod. I would recommend that you download an iPod Video Converter and run the files through it, and then try syncing the newly created files on to the iPod.
I've used Videora, and have had some good results with it. The only problem that I've really run into is that sometimes the audio is a few seconds out of sync with the video. It's not soo bad that watching the video files is unbearable, but that's all up to you.
You can try a Google search for iPod Video Converter, or you can check on VersionTracker.com
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Please help with audio problems, thanks!

Hi, I'm relatively new to DVD studio Pro and so far the manual has been useful but i've run into some sound related problems. I'm a composer/sound designer and this DVD is to be my reel so these are fairly integral issues to its success.
First, I want to add a sound effect to each of the roll over states, so one sound for the "over" and one sound for the "down" state. Currently i can only add audio as the backing track for each menu.
Second, whilst most of the items on the dvd are movies that include my music, I also want to have a page purely of audio tracks which play when pressed without changing the page. How can i do this? The only DVD i've seen this done on is "The Thin Red Line" extras, promoting the soundtrack to the film.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum/discussions CC!
Sorry to have to inform you, but unfortunately layered menus aren't supporterd with audio in DVDSP, and technically what you're attempting is a layered menu-type function - although it just may be possible with scripts, I doubt it.
Your second request can be done however and there's several ways to go about doing it.
I like DVD@ccess but others would recommend a method of simply placing the audio files in the built file of the DVD making them accessible to users.
Another method I could suggest is to make a menu page exactly like the one you want to look the same and have the song you'd like to play as the music track for that duplicated-menu in question - set the target of the link for the song in the menu to go to the menu that has that song as the music track. Repeat that for the number of songs you'd like to have this feature.

  • MXF export with audio problems

    Hi!
At the brodcast station that I work we recently upgrade to premiere CC. Our workflow are almost XDCAM files (MXF) and whe an edition is finished we export to MXF to play out or copy to XDCAM disc.
Recently I have a multi camera project and everything works perfect but when I export to an MXF file the sound as a "blank frame" in sound. The concert as an hour and twenty minutes and at the fisrt second
theres is that little "cut" in sound that doesn't exist in timeline.
I tryed various ways to export and everytime I got this frame in the same place. I also export timelines with 2 minutes from other projects, more simple, and always I got a "blank frame" somewhere in audio.
Tryed to export with 2 channels, 8 channels, stereo timeline multichannel timeline and everything result in a MXF in this audio issue.
Anyone already detect this exporting to MXFs, any sugestion to resolve this problem?

Thank you norok65 for replying this post.
I searched for some post with my problem and I didn't find so I post this one. I'm "glad" that I'm not the only one having this Kind of problem.
Like you said the problem cames with some updates. We used Premiere CS5 and no problem with MXF. We tryed the CS6 to possible update and
at the begining no problem but after some updates this problem appears and we abandoned the CS6 and we tested the CC. No problem with CC
and we did the migration. So, CC export MXFs with no problem but after some updates the audio problems came up again.
I think the problem is the updates and Adobe must fix this.
Jim, I already did some tests and exported only audio to WAV and no problem. Other formats like quictime no problem too.
This kind of problem only appears with MXF.
Like I said our workflow are almost everything in MXF (XDCAM) and we wish this issue can be solved.

State the Category as "Downloading" and the Sub-Category as "I continually receive an error message..."
Then explain the issue to them and make sure you state the error code.

  • I can import my first clip to the video library, but not the second clip. I tried dragging-dropping and using the "E" key, but only the first clip will show up in the library. I use IMovie 9.0.9 and OSX 10.8.5. with no problems until yesterday.

I can drag my first clip from the New Event window into the Project Library, but not the second. I can highlight the second clip in the New Event window, but it won't "drag". The "E" key works for the first clip, but not the second.I've been using IMovie daily and the problem just appeared. No upgrades to the computer and no new software installed.  IMovie 9.0.9 and OSX 10.8.5

Thanks victoryhat.  I learned some new things from this very clear tutorial.  But it didn't answer my question about why the titles don't stay with the video when I export it.
He did mention something that might be a clue however.  When he talked about importing a title he created as an image, he noted that he was careful to make the image the same size as the video he was adding it to: 1280 x 720.  Since I took the video with an iPhone in the vertical position, my video image isn't the same size and orientation as the titles.
Maybe there is a way I should be setting the screen for this size???  I'll go back and play around.  Meanwhile thanks for alerting me to Gary Rosenzweig's MacMost tutorials.  Very clear.  I'll look for more.

  • Another HP user with audio problem (dv6119us)

I'm not holding my breath for a solution, since HP seems to not care. I have a DV6119us that came with XP but is listed as "Vista Compatable". HP even sent me a spiffy new disk of Vista. Since installing Vista, I do not get sound from my speakers. The headphones and external speakers work, but nothing from the internal speakers.
I've Googled, and researched 'til I'm almost blind. Yes, I've searched these forums. I see similar questions as mine, but no answers. I've spent hours with dolts from HP support who have me doing the same thing; uninstall driver, reinstall, delete this, goof with that, update BIOS, jump through this hoop, cram a chop stick in your eye and spin it like an aboriginal trying to start a fire on a frosty mornning. I've wiped the drive and done fresh installs, sprinkled holy water, you name it, all useless.
For some reason, HP is silent with regards this issue. I suspect that HP basically sold a bunch of laptops as "Vista capable" that are, in fact NOT "Vista capable" and as far as HP is concerned, it's tough luck.
Does ANYONE have a solution to the Conexant High-Definiiton non-working sound device that is inherant in the Pavilion 6000 series note books running Vista 32 bit? Anyone??

  • Mac OSX Mavericks 10.9 firewire audio problem on RME Fireface 800, MOTU 828 Mk II and Apogee Duet on late 2013 iMac i7

I just got the late 2013 iMac 3.5GHz Intel Core i7 and all my firewire based audio interfaces do not work properly although I upgraded to the latest drivers. iTunes or Youtube can play for a short and then there are unbrearable digital noises.
Apogee Duet is slightly better that can play for a few minutes. Then it may have short pause or digital noises. I need to reset the "Sample Rate" to other values to get it work again.
MOTU 828 mk II and RME Fireface 800 are having the most serious problems. Alternating the sample rate can sometimes help but often I need to reboot the iMac to get it work again. However, it works for only 1-2 minutes before the digital noises.
These are the software/drivers I installed:
    - Apogee Maestro 2 version 2.8.8
    - MOTU Universal Audio Installer for Mac OS X version 1.6.58373 (8/20/2013)
    - RME version 3.19, firmware 2.77
I connect the fireware through Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire convertor.
These drivers are supposed to work with 10.9 but they don't. Anyone can help or share experience?

I've read in other forums that there are two issues that is causing this problem of chopping audio and freezing interfaces.  One has to do with USB 2.0 /USB 3.0 issues in OS.  The other seems to be an issue with the Fusion drive.
The fix for the fusion drive issue that has been shared online is to either:
Option #1.  Don't use the fusion drive and create an external boot drive clone (either SSD or standard HD) and use as your primary drive (completely surpassing the internal fusion drive).
Option #2.  Split the internal fusion drive.  From there you can use them as two separate logical drives.  Load your OS on one of the drives (SSD or HD).   http://www.macworld.com/article/2015664/how-to-split-up-a-fusion-drive.html
Before, you do any of the above, make sure that you backup your current system setup.
I just received my imac (2013) with 3TB fusion and I plan on trying option #1.  I bought a 3TB external USB drive which I plan to clone after I have the machine running.  Once I clone the internal drive, I will test how the machine runs from both the internal fusion and the external to prove if this addresses the audio clipping/stopping problem.  Hopefully, Apple will find a fix for this.
It is really a dissapointment that a brand new $2500+ machine and software was not tested to perform something that my 2008 MacBookPro and my home built Window XT machine (circa 2003) did without issue.  I wished that I would have checked the forums about these issues before I purchased the machine.
You can do some searches online and find even more detail discussions on this topic.

  • IMac 2007 with audio problems after mavericks installation

    Hi all,
I'm having some troubles since I updated my iMac (mid 2007) to Mavericks.
After the successfull installation of Mavericks I don't get any audio from my iMac. Regardless if I try to hear some music or system sounds.
Everytime you would expect a system sound (for example incoming mail) the speakers will start to buzz instead of the expected system sound.
This also happens during the system boot. I tried to reset the PRAM but without success. I also tried to check MIDI settings but this also didn't help.
    Before Mavericks everything worked fine...
Does anyone have an idea or do I have to go to an Apple Store?
    Many thanks and kind regards.

Have you tried a PRAM reset - might help: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

  • Audio problems frustrating newbie!

As a newbie to Apple products I find myself frustrated with audio problems on my new iMac. In the project browser the video is fine, audio in sync, no video hesitation, but when I view the finished product in full screen mode I get audio out of sync, periods of no audio at all and freezing frames. I burned the project onto a dvd and again, although the project is perfect the dvd download is the same as the full screen preview, scenes freeze, and hesitates and there are lengthy periods of no sound. I've rechecked all aspects of voice overs, music etc, nothing seems out of whack and the movie runs perfectly in project mode. Any ideas? I've read on other forums that this is a problem with imovie11. This is not a happy introduction to Apple!

All I can say is this is by no means a bug free product. But the price is right. I've used imovie for a couple of years. When stuff happens, you can definitely post on this site because the help is very good. But at the end of the day, you have to burn cycles, step back and really analyze what the heck happened and could have cause this issue.
Video can be ******* complicated. The more complicated it gets, the more you should bite the bullet and hit the learning curve and get yourself a copy of final cut. It's a steep learning curve, but it's a serious app. I have no idea what's going on with your problem. Hope you solved it..?
    Anyhow, good luck.
BTW, Mac's are not perfect, but light years more enjoyable the Winblows and bloated operating systems of that variant. Don't throw it out the window yet.

  • Strange audio problems

For about a week now I've been have a very, very peculiar problem. Putting it as simple as I can, while watching videos online (in a browser of any sort) the audio turns off then immediately turns back on, the audio symbol in the top right of the screen turns gray then black then grey then black a couple of times. As far as I know this only occurs when I watch videos online, it doesn't make a difference if I have speakers plugged in or headphone plugged in or if I'm using the internal speakers.
I wouldn't mind if someone could figure this out fast as it really is starting to get on my nerves. Thanks!

    Hello,
As a musician myself, I definitely understand you're frustrations with audio problems. Would you mind giving us a few more details about your problem?
    1. How often does this issue occur, and when did you first start noticing it?
    2. Have you verified if this issue occurs in a test user
If the issue is present in both users, there are a few simple troubleshooting steps you can try. First, run SW updates. Try resetting the [PRAM|http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379] and [SMC|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964?viewlocale=en_US]
I also recommend cleaning out your headphone jack with some compressed air, which you can buy at most electronic stores.
I hope those tips get you on the right track. You may also look at brining your computer to an [Apple Retail Store|http://www.apple.com/ca/retail/>

  • How can I play music on my macbook pro (OSX Lion) through a Pioneer receiver. I've connected them with a mini display port to HDMI cable with audio support bought at the Apple Store, but there's no sound coming through. thanks

How can I play music on my macbook pro (OSX Lion) through a Pioneer receiver? I've connected them with a mini display port to HDMI cable with audio support bought at the Apple Store, but there's no sound coming through. There are 4 HDMI-in ports on the receiver - BD, DVD, DVR/BDR and audio. In my system preferences for sound, the receiver doesn't show up as an output option. Can anyone please advise. (ps, this is my first time posting a question, so I hope I can find your answers!) thanks, JP downunder

For sound, try the audio output port and connecting to the RCA  audio input ports on your Pioneer receiver.  Use something like this:

  • Mush/Audio Errors with MacMini (2012) connected via Firewire with Motu 828mk3

    Hi,
just bought a Mac Mini (actual model) and wanted to connect my Motu 828 mk3 via Firewire for audio recording. BUT, via FW there are audio errors/mush (sounds like electrical mush) in all the audio outputs. Via USB its all o.k. ! The Motu works fine with an 2008 MacBook Pro on Firewire!
Has anyone the same problem with audio interfaces on macs using firewire, especially on the actual Mac mini? Is it a problem of the Mac (Mini) Firewire port?
The Mac Mini has installed the latest Motu drivers and the latest version of OS X Lion. The problem exists in all audio applications (Cubase, AudioDesk, Wavelab, even iTunes).
Thanks for your help/answers and best regards.

The problem stems from the Mac (in my case Mac Mini Server 2011).
Apparently, as I read in various forums looking for Mac and Logic, the new models of Mac Mini (2011) have lowered the voltage Firewire.
I have the same problem with my new Track-16.
I can only work fine with USB connection.
Either we change the computer model, or users of Mac Mini (2011) we can forget a Firewire connection powerful and efficient.
Only remains for me try to connect to an external HD Motu firewire 800 which is connected to the Mac Mini previously. I guess the external HD, to be powered via AC, will have enough voltage to the Motu.
    Best regards.

  • Mac Mini Audio Intermittent over HDMI, Cuts out with Assertion in kernel.log

Hello. I've been having trouble with a mac mini (Mid 2011) that I bought on Thursday. It's running OSX 10.7. The Mac Mini is the $599 unit.
I've got it hooked up to my Sony BRAVIA HDTV (also this year's model) via HDMI, with audio configured to be delivered via HDMI to the TV alongside video. Initially the audio will play through my TV, but after an hour or two of watching something, it will cut out, and there will be no more sound coming out of the TV from the mac. Ultimately, the only way I can fix it is to reboot the Mac Mini. I've also observed that at about the same time sound cuts out, the following error message appears in kernel.log:
Aug 12 19:21:40 joshs-Mac-mini kernel[0]: Sound assertion "0 != result" failed in AppleHDAWidget at line 3957 goto handler
    Aug 12 19:22:10 --- last message repeated 5 times
As far as I know, assertions failures usually mean software problems (bugs). I suspect I may be encountering a kernel-level bug in Lion, as this error message is showing in kernel.log.
The following is a list of diagnostic steps I've taken:
    - I've double-checked the sound output device in preferences. It didn't spontaneously change from SONY TV (HDMI) after sound cut out.
    - I've tried changing output to the internal speakers. It plays sound from the mac mini (as expected). When I change it back to HDMI, still no sound from the TV.
    - I've tried turning off and back on the tv. No effect.
    - I've tried unplugging and replugging the HDMI cable. No effect.
    - I've tried replacing the HDMI cable with two other alternates. No effect.
    - I've tried other HDMI inputs for my TV with HDMI attached. No effect.
    - Note: I've got a ps3 and xbox360 on the TV that has successfully used the HDMI inputs and cables tested on. They've never had this type of problem, so I don't think there's a problem with the TV.
    - I've tried rebooting the mac and resetting the "PRAM" (Command-Option-P-R before the grey screen on bootup). Sound still cuts out after a while.
    - All updates are applied.
Does anybody else have any ideas about what I could try to fix this? This problem is pretty much a deal breaker, as rebooting the mac mini mid-movie kind of destroys the movie-watching experience.
    Thanks

I'd just like to jump in on this thread to report exactly the same problem.
2011 Mac Mini (the 2.5GHz i5 model) running Lion, Sony Bravia TV, HDMI sounds cuts out after a while with the console error "Aug 15 18:30:25 Mini kernel[0]: Sound assertion "0 != result" failed in AppleHDAWidget at line 3957 goto handler".
Interestingly, after the error occurs, I can still get 5.1 sound through Plex, but not through Quicktime. 2.0 sound and system sounds all fail until I reboot the system.
Any help would be appreciated. I would prefer not to have to return the Mini.
    Thanks.
