HT204388 What is the least expensive way to watch over the air antenna tv while away from home?

I am looking how to easily and cheaply receive analog and or hmdi tv reception through an over the air antenna. I will be at an RV park for a week and want to watch news. I want something simple. My travel trailer has built in antenna system with coaxial connection. Is there something connection that I can plug into my MacBook Pro (2012) which will convert to the coaxial or a standalone antenna in the trailer or merely just plugged into my laptop?

Unfortuneately, a full Creative Cloud subscription at $40/month, or buy the CS6 versions outright.

  • HT1414 Please recommend the least expensive option, between MB Pro or Air or perhaps non-Mac laptop?

My non-Mac desktop PC was damaged beyond repair so, I need a replacement. I replaced it with an iPad (iOS 4.3).. For over a year that's worked fine until now...updates started requiring iOS 5.0.  Then I purchased an iPhone with 6.0 a few weeks ago.  The 'wireless' update to 6.1 did not work and the Apple store says the phone is in recovery mode which requires iTunes to update.
My immediate need is to use iTunes to update my iPad (4.3 iOS) and iPhone (6.0 iOS).
I'm looking for my least expensive option between MB Pro or Air or perhaps non-Mac laptop.
Note - I am disabled so it is difficult for me to travel to the Apple store every time I need to use iTunes on a computer. So I'm thinking perhaps a  MB AIr might be a long term solution. Or....  Should I just get the store to update iOS on both devices and forget about a laptop purchase? (assuming 6.1 will allow  wireless updates for future changes and that if either device goes into recovery again iTunes will be required).
    What do you suggest?

That is a taffy. Go to the store once and update all devices, with risk of loosing all of the info, that use to be on your phone, but probably gone anyway. And second option is to travel to the store to buy computer, with a very little chance of preserving some info on the ipad, but very high chance of multiple other trips for troubleshooting of all three. Hmm? To Be or not to Be?

  • How do I stream purchased movies to my Macbook Pro if I've already downloaded them and moved the source files to an external desktop hard drive and I'm away from home?

I recently added a number of movies to my iTunes library by redeeming digital copeis that came with Blu-rays. Due to limted disc space on my MacBook Pro, and for safe keeping, once I downloaded the movies, I moved the source files to an external desktop hard drive. When I'm home and I'm able to access that external HD via my home network, I'm able to watch the movies without an issue. However, if I'm away from home and I want to watch them, I'm not sure how to do that. I thought I could "stream" purchased movies from within iTunes  - even after downloading them - using "iTunes in the Cloud" but can't figure out how to do that, or it simply isn't possible.
    What are my options?

I understand that I can't play my downloaded movies when my external HDD is not connected becuase iTunes is looking for the downloaded files. This is not the issue. The issue is that because my HDD is not connected (as in when I'm away from home) I'd like to be able to stream the movies via the cloud.
If I hadn't downloaded the movies when I redeemed my codes, would I have been able to keep the movies online via Apple iCloud and watched them anytime by streaming them or must the movies be downloaded in order to be viewed on my MacBook?  I read that Apple allows movies purchased (or redeemed) via iTunes to be stored in the cloud via Apple iCloud so that they can be viewed any time, on any device.  IF this is the case, how does it work? From what I can see, it looks like movies can only be "streamed" from the cloud when useing Apple TV; on my iPhone and MacBook Pro, it looks like they need to be downloaded in order to be viewed.
Can someone clarify this for me?
Also - Michael - when you said that If I've already downloaded the film but I'm away from my external HDD I should "Delete the entry from the iTunes library so iTunes only sees the iTunes in the Cloud version", what exactly would this mean? Would this mean that I could then stream the movie from the cloud or would I have to re-download it to my Mac's internal HDD in order to watch it?
    Many thanks!

  • What's the least expensive way to upgrade from 10.4.11?

I have neglected to upgrade in a timely manner.  Now what?

Hello, skip the incredibly expensive 10.5 Upgrade.
First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

It's been pulled from the online store & Apple Stores, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.

  • What is the least expensive way to take an iPhone to the USA for 2 weeks? I currently have a contract with O2!

I won't use the phone's much tak time, but I'll want to be able to use internet, whilst on the move.
Appart from leave the phone at home. What is the most cost effective and practical way of doing this?

Assuming your phone is carrier locked to O2, put your phone in Airplane mode. This turns off all iPhone radios, but you can go back into settings & turn both WiFi & Bluetooth back on.

  • HT4623 I upgraded my iphone to iOS 7 while away from home, and it tells me when I plug it into a new iTunes that the phone needs to be restored.  Because of lack of space I don't have all of my phone's info on iCloud, and I'm afraid I'll lose information

Anyway to go back? (I guess it's downloaded but not installed) I'm keeping my phone off, but not dure that will be enough.
    Thanks

The iPhone can only be synced with one iTunes on one computer. If you plug it into a new iTunes on a different computer it's going to ask to sync it to the new iTunes. So don't sync anything unless you want to lose your info.
Let me know if this helps.

  • What is the least expensive quality chroma key software...?

What is the least expensive chroma key software for the mac...
Also, I'm correct that using chroma key does not require that you go frame by frame, right?

You shouldn't really need 3rd party software, as FCP and FCE both come with decent keying filters, but I have heard good things of the FxFactory. I believe that software does keying (among other things).
And yes, as long as your green/blue/whatever background doesn't change in hue/saturation/luma inside the clip, you should not have to keyframe.

  • I am looking to buy the least expensive high resolution digital video camera to convert/record 8mm video tapes.

Hi. Thanks for your help in advance.
I am looking to buy the least expensive digital video camera with the highest resolution I can find in order to use it to record 100s of old (1960s era ) reel to reel video tapes. I am told that in order to do that I must record the "old" video onto a new platform, which means I will set up an "old" projector and play the tapes and record the video on a digital camera. I only want to do this once so I want the highest resolution format I can find. Therefore, I am looking for a camera to purchase. Any help is appreciated.

    Hello Lance,
Transferring film to digital video is a complex, challenging process.  To cut to the chase, the best way to do this is to engage a firm that specializes in film-to-digital transfer services.  There are quite a few around.  Costs for 8mm transfer range anywhere from about $0.15 - $0.40 per foot and there are usually significant discounts for bulk projects.  Plus, depending on the cost of the video camera you would otherwise consider buying, you may find it costs less overall to use a service than do it yourself.
You also mentioned that you "want the highest resolution format" ...  Once you project 8mm/Super8 film onto a screen the effective resolution will not even be what we might consider "standard-def" in digital video.  And the larger the projected image the lower & lower the effective resolution regardless of what kind of video camera you might use.
A transfer service, however, directly scans each frame to digitize them and depending on the math the resulting digital image may technically be as "good" as 720p ... but the overall image quality will still be limited by the quality of the original film ... and still probably not up the level of "standard-def" digital video ... but way better than anything you could obtain with a homebrew projector-screen-videocam setup.
Why DIY?  Well, it sounds inexpensive and simple.  But in reality it is a very time consuming way to get relatively low quality transfers no matter how high-end or expensive a video camera you use.  I can share more details if necessary, but DIY film-to-video transfer is not the way to go if you are really interested in quality results.

  • Please guide me to the least expensive camcorder that will upload to iMovie

Please help. I'm lost. I have a MacBook Pro with iMovie. I'm going on a fishing trip and want the least expensive camcorder I can find which will allow me to upload the movies to my Mac and edit them with iMovie.
    Thanks for specific suggestions!!!!

I know a friend of mine bought a small memory card camcorder. I'm not sure what she payed but it was pretty cheap (low $100s). I think she bought it on ebay so I would check there. Here is a list of the recommended / supported camcorders (according to apple)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1014
In light of this I believe that almost any memory card camcorder would work (memory chips are pretty standard and there is always the option of a card reader).
    I hope this helps,

Ya know what I'm on a brand new MBP just about 24 hours old and you know whats been working amazingly for me. I have a 27inch iMac as well and i've just connected it to my network and been dragging files and apps across the network onto my new MBP. Its really working fast and its flawless. You could always do that option, Just go into sharing options and turn them on for both Macs. Then just click and drag. Of course they have to both be on the same network for this to be possible.
    Look at my network.
Shared is what your looking at.  I click on there see all my computers files and then drag the ones i want form its folder to my MBP folders.  Hope that helps if your looking for a very simple way on a wireless network.

Before you go, move the files to I tunes and sync them down.  There is no viable way to stream from your nas drive to the pad.

All the cd's I have bought over the years, have all been uploaded into iTunes on my Windows PC. I have tried just copying my iTunes folder across to my new iMac, but it doesn't recognise all of the music (but it does recognise some?). Can someone please tell me the best way to transfer my iTunes library from my PC to my iMac?
    Thanks, Caroline

Copy the entire /My Music/iTunes/ folder from your PC to /Music/ on your Mac.
