HT204400 how to verify correctness of wifi password

How to verify correctness of password for wifi, and how to modify. Wifi connection can not be made.

Not sure what you are asking. If you do not know your password that is not an Apple TV issue.

  • How can I recover my wifi password?

How can I recover my wifi password? My mac is still connected, but the vodafone store deleted my settings on my ipad!! I've tried keychain access and network preferences, but it doesn't show the password, just asks for the password. Is there another way?

Use a browser to log into your router. Navigate to the wifi settings and the passphrase will be there. The address of your router is manufacturer dependent but will be something like http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1.
If you can't log into your router for some reason you can reset it to factory defaults. Look in your router manual for instructions. Once reset to factory defaults the wifi pass phrase will be the one provided as default for your router model. Look in your router manual. You will then need to create a new pass phrase in your router wifi settings and then change the passphrase used in your wifi devices to match your newly created passphrase.

I have a MAC, Apple TV and wifi.  My ex gave my neighbor the password to my wifi and now I want to change the password so she can't access my network any more.  How do I change my Wifi password so I don't mess up my Apple TV?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't do that, you'll need to change the password on your Wi-Fi and then change the settings on the Apple TV to log into your network again using the new password.

  • How do I reset my WIFI password?

How do I reset my WIFI password on my u-verse modem?

If you have a 2wire gateway and need to change your WIFI passwordOpen a Web browser and enter http://192.168.1.254 into the address bar. When the Gateway's Graphical User Interface screen appears, click on the Wireless icon.
Under the Network section, the Wi-Fi Network Name can be found in the Network Name field.
Under the Security section, the Wireless Network Password can be found in the Use custom Wireless Network Key field. If the key is not visible, you can re-enter a new wireless network key and select Save at the bottom of the page.
If you have an NVG510Open a Web browser and enter http://192.168.1.254 into the address bar.Choose the Home Network tab at the topChoose the Wireless sub-tab underneathOn the Security Drop down, change it to WPA-PSK or WEP-ManualIn the field marked Key, type in the password you wish to use
Resetting to Factory Default SettingsAlso, you can reset your equipment to factory default settings and the Wi-Fi password will be reset to the one labeled wireless key on the side of the modem. The easiest way to reset the modem is look for a red button on the back of the modem. Press and hold the button down for 10 or more seconds. You may need a pointy object to make sure the button is pressed down fully.

  • How to view/sync saved WiFi passwords on C3?

I need a way to view / sync saved WiFi passwords in order to use them with another device.
Where they are stored on a C3, and how to recover them to a PC?

    @borga
If you are the Administrator of PC you could always get information from router or via Windows itself, but you are not going to be able to access passwords of all previously visited "hotspots".

  • How to find out my WiFi password?

I have a new Apple Ipad Air...when I try to connect to my home WiFi it asks me for my WiFi password.  How do I find out what the WiFi password is?

Depends on what type of router you're using. It may be on a sticker on the router itself. If not there, then you'll have to log into the router. Put this into the web browser's URL field and press return:
    192.168.0.1
    or
    192.168.1.1
It should respond to one or the other. You then may need to enter a user name and password before you can actually view the router's configuration pages. The admin password also may be on the same sticker. If not, refer to the manual for the defaults.
Once in, the router's settings will be displayed in your web browser like a typical web site. Look for a heading such as Wireless Security. The name of the section you're looking for varies from router to router. The passcode should be some long, obnoxious string of characters.
Do NOT change any settings in the router if you don't know what they're for. Just find what you need and close the browser.

  • How can I see saved wifi passwords iPhone iOS5?

On the iPhone, is there a way to view stored wireless passwords?
A friend of mine forgets his wifi password and it would be far easier for me to look it up than for him to try and find the right menu in the router!
When I was there last I looked it up for him and added it to my phone to test it.

    Drat!
I was hoping there was a secret menu for "Keychain access".
How about a 3rd party app?
Or maybe a way to dig it out of the backup file(s) on my MAC?

  • How can i find my wifi password

I have misplaced my wifi password and cant seem to find it anywhere. I am however connected to my ipad can i find it anywhere on here?

If you have a Mac you can use the following procedure to retrieve it. Otherwise, reset your wireless network password by momentarily depressing the reset button on your AirPort Extreme, Express, or Time Capsule. Press the button for one full second, no more. Then, configure a new password using AirPort Utility.
Your wireless network password is stored in your Mac's Keychain.
You must first have an Administrator account on a Mac that you use with that AirPort Base Station, one that is used to connect to your AirPort network.
On that Mac, open the Utilities folder. Find Keychain Access and launch it.
In the search field at the upper right, type Airport. All the Keychain entries for your base station will appear there, as well as other entries.
Look at the column "Kind". The entry you want to select will be labeled "AirPort network password" (not "AirPort base station password" or anything else).
If you are trying to recover the AirPort Base Station password then the entry you want to select will be labeled "AirPort base station password" not "AirPort network password".
Double-click that, and in the window that appears check the box for "Show password".
You will get the following window:
In the Password field type your Mac's Administrator password - the same one you used to log in to that Mac.
Then, click Allow, and your wireless network password will appear in the "Show password" field:
    Make note of it.
Close the window, then quit Keychain Access.

I need help changing my WiFi password

    Hi ,
I will be glad to help you with that. To change your wireless network key,
Login to your gateway at http://192.168.1.254
    Select wireless.
From there, you can change your network key. You may have to select to use a customer one depending on your gateway.
Note: You can also change your network name (SSID).
    Hope this helps.

  • How to save a wifi password?

how do you save a wifi password so you don't have to put the password in everytime to connect?

The password for a wi-fi network should be saved with the wi-fi network settings are successfully joining the network.
Is this a personal wi-fi network, or a public wi-fi network that requires signing in to the network with a website?

How can I retrieve my wifi password?

For your wireless network at home?
If so, do you have an Apple wireless router?
Regardless, the password for your wireless network should be in your Mac's keychain. Check Keychain access on your Mac for this.

  • Restore only saved wifi passwords after Network Settings reset

Hi, I did a Networks Settings reset without realising it would wipe my wifi passwords. I know they're in the backup on my iTunes, but I don't want to do a full backup and lose some recent data from other apps that's on my phone.  How can I restore the wifi passwords without restoring the whole backup and reverting the phone back to a previous state?  Thank you!

    barrybarrybaz wrote:
I know - as I said, they are in the backup.
And, how do you know that? Did you encrypt your backup? No where in anything you've posted so far have you stated such.
Regardless, the restore from backup process is all or nothing, & I'm not aware of any software that can extract data from an encrypted iPhone backup. So, if in fact your backup is encrypted, then your only option is to restore from that backup.
