HT204400 My Apple TV is not turning on

My Apple TV is not turning on. My remote is not out of batterie and is working fine. How can I turn it on?

Unplug the unit from the power and plug it back in. If the unit isn't going to light up, the unit may be dead... but try that first.

My Apple TV is not tuning on.  I've tried restarting it (holding down the down and menu buttons) and that is not fixing it.  When I push any button on the remote, the apple indicator light will show, but then turns right off.  When I hold down and menu for six seconds, I can get the indicator light to blink fast, but it will just turn off again.  Any ideas?

Your batteries need to be changed. Mine was doing the same thing, so I tried the iPad Remote app - it worked fine.  Grabbed the Apple remote from my first gen ATV and it worked, so I got a new battery and now the remote works just fine!
The ATV LED lighting up threw me too - I guess its strong enough to get the ARV to acknowledge the signal, but not enough to do anything.

  • Itouch its just shows the apple icon - will not turn on

i  am  charging  itouch--only the apple icon appears and there is no ability  to use device -

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My Apple TV Will Not Turn On

My Apple TV, which was working just fine yesterday, won't turn on today. Here is what I have done:
    1. Unplugged the Apple TV for 30 seconds - didn't help
    2. Checked the power cord, tried a different socket - didn't help
    3. Checked the remote battery - it is fine
    4. Tried to reconfigure the remote to the Apple TV: at close range held down Menu and reverse - didn't help
    5. WiFi is fine, all other devices in the house are working, including the Apple TV in the family room.
I have a USB to micro cord, but can't quite figure out what to do with it.
    Any suggestions out there?

When you say it won't turn on, do you mean you get no picture or does the status light on the Apple TV not work too.
If you do want to try a restore at some point:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.

  • Apple watch will not turn off when charging

    Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone is able to turn off their apple watch when it is connected to the charger?
When I connect the charger, the "power off" option is greyed out.. If I disconnect it from the charger and turn it off... It will turn itself back on as soon as I re-connect the charger!
    Any tips would be appreciated!

Mine doesn't turn off but the display goes off after a little while. I believe that that's the design behaviour. Any specific reason why you want to turn it off on the charger?

Does the green light not come on?
Bad batteries or batteries inserted wrong, that's about all there is.

  • HT1414 apple ipad will not turn on

I have held the sleep/wake button down for a long time to do a reset.  It doesn't work either.

You need to hold both the power button and the home button together until you see the apple then let go.

    Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
Try the left side keys on the keyboard and hold all the keys for about 20seconds.

    Hello there, ChareyJohnson.
The following iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant might help you get past the issue you're having with your new iPhone:
Apple - Support - iPhone - iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone
Since you haven't yet setup the phone, you can likely skip the "Close app" step.
This should help you get the phone up and running in no time.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • HT1414 My ipad only showes the apple it does not start up

When I turn on my ipad all i get is the apple, it does not turn on completely.

Did you try rebooting the iPad?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • I shattered my phone and does not turn on I have apple care. How much would it be to replace it?

I have an iphone 4s and I dropped it down some steps and its completely shattered and does not turn on. I have apple care. Does apple care last for 2 years? I replaced it once before with no charge. Would I be charged this time? Please help.

You have AppleCare or AppleCare+. If you have regular AppleCare, accidental damage is not covered. It will cost you $199 for a replacement. If you have AppleCare+, and you're within 2 years of buying the original phone, then you can have it replace for (I believe) $49. That was the quoted replacement price when AppleCare+ first started being sold.

  • I cannot sign in.  "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store.  Please review your account information."  I click "Review", next message "You must turn on cookies to continue.   Cookies must be enabled if you want to create or edit.. etc."

I applied and received an upgrade code to Redeem Mountain Lion for my new MBP.
I get this message when I try to Sign in to the App Store after entering the redemption content code, and also if I just try to "Sign In".   The first part of the error is true - I haven't used the AppleID with the iTunes store.
I received the upgrade code using this same AppleID, so I don't think I can use a different AppleID.
I also tried to re-create this appleID...(it was one suggestion I saw for this issue) It doesn't let me since the ID already exists...
    The error is:
"This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store.  Please review your account information."  I click "Review", next message "You must turn on cookies to continue.   Cookies must be enabled if you want to create or edit.. etc."
It's clearly not a cookie issue..   Stuck...

The first part of the error is true - I haven't used the AppleID with the iTunes store.
Try here >  Using an existing Apple ID with the iTunes Store and Mac App Store
received the upgrade code using this same AppleID, so I don't think I can use a different AppleID.
    Correct.
It's clearly not a cookie issue..
As for cookies. Quit the App Store. Now open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder.
Type this exactly as you see it here:   ~/Library/Cookies
Click Go the move the   com.apple.appstore.plist   file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch the App Store.

  • Hello.  My 1st Generation Apple TV with HDMI cable does not turn on.  Its a used model purchased on eBay.  I've checked and ensured that the electrical plug works.  Is there anyway to manually check to see if the unit turns on or do I have a defective uni

Hope I'm using this forum right.  I purchased a 1st Generation Apple TV on eBay.  Unfortunately, I cannot get it to turn on.  I have another Apple TV (1st Generation) that works flawlessly on another TV.  So I tried to use the new unit on this TV with same electrical cord and HDMI cable.  No luck.  It would not turn on.  So I do not know if I have a defective unit or if there's another method of turning on the Apple TV.  Again:
    1.  I double checked and it was on the correct HDMI setting (the other Apple TV worked on it) and used the same cable
    2.  I double checked that the electrical was correct - again, the other Apple TV worked correct.
Any suggestions on fixing this would be most appreciated.
    Thank you

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
A good indication would be the status light to begin with, it should flash rapidly on start up and then settle down (assuming the status light is working-they have a habit of fading)
The other thing you could try is cycling the resolutions in case the previous user has left it on a setting that your TV doesn't support.
Press and hold both the 'menu' and '+' on the Apple Remote for about 6 seconds.
Press '+'or '-' on the Apple Remote to cycle through the display resolutions.
Pause a couple of seconds after each press for the Apple TV to accept your selection.
When Apple TV reaches an acceptable display resolution and “If you can see the Apple logo, select OK” appears on your TV screen, press 'select' .
If that doesn't help, I fear the Apple TV is defective.

  • My apple tv is not working on the computer tab as it says to turn on homesharing and it is on

my apple tv says to turn on homesharing which it already is
i am unable to access the photos in the computer tab
    any suggestions
    thanks
i have restarted and returned on both computer and apple tv btw

After hours of trying to fix- finally found simple solution !
Go to the main computer(s) where you ahve your itunes program. This applies to PC Win7 in my case.
Upper left hand corner under 'File' See drop down menu where it says " Home Sharing'. If on turn it off , then go right back and turn it on- you will have to sign in with Apple ID and password.
    Then -this is the solution.
Go to your My computer on your PC - hit button for it to shows all your drives. Click on your main drive - usually 'C". It will show all the stuff on that drive.
Find where your Itunes program is - usually under "programs" Once you find Itunes , right click to get drop down menu- at bottom is "Properties" right click. another small windows comes up - click tab for sharing . If it says not shard - you will see a blue highlighed  " Advanced Sharing" click that to folow instructions to enable sharing.
Do that for any program you want to share with Apple TV.
If they are not set to "Share" Apple Tv will not work for Home Sharing.
Once all programs involved with Ituenes etc are set to shared . Then go to Apple TV. back to Home Sharing and everything should show up.
Mine did and it was a simple fix.
    Good Luck
