HT204402 Renaming an event in iMovie and yellow warning triangles

Im new to the world of apple and iMovie and have made the mistake of completing a project and then renaming my events to tidy things up. I've since been told that this was a stupid thing to do and my project cannot locate the footage from the event (even though the footage still exists in the newly renamed event folder).
How can I relinking the footage back so that the project recognises it again? Or will I have to create it all over again? The project was two hours long so I really want to try a d avoid redoing it.

I've just found a solution to this problem, a big thanks to David Burwell:
Close iMovie
Back up iMovie files just in case we blow something up!!!
Download "Plist Edit Pro" from Apple (see below)
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/development_tools/plisteditpro.html
Go to the folder where your iMovie Project is stored, mine was at...
User/Movies/iMovie Projects
Right mouse click on the Video Project (mine was called Rachel Video)
Select "Show Package Contents" from the drop down menu
You'll see a number of Folders and Files
Right mouse click on the file called "Project"
Select "Open With" and browse to the "Plist Edit Pro" file you just downloaded (if you don't already have it)
Expand the $objects list
I scrolled down until i found the missing music file (Ship.mp3 - it will list the entire path)
If you know the file name you can Edit/Find it instead
Change the location pointer of the file (new path and file name)
Select File/Save from the Plist Edit Pro menu
Quit Plist Edit Pro
Open the project in iMovie

  • On the imovi project I have created there are now yellow warning triangles saying the the clip is missing. How do I get the clip back?

I have created a project in Imovi and when I went back onto it all the clips had a yellow warning triangle with the error message clip missing.  How do I retrieve the clips after all my hard work?

I don't use the latest iMovie version, so the steps may be different....... but, you can try a couple of things:
when you got the warning that the clips couldn't be located, was there an option to "find them"? If so, click on that and then navigate to that folder on your desktop (after that, leave the folder where it is - iMovie will need to find them again the next time); or
attach your camera and see if you can get iMovie to 'find' them there, or
simply try to import the clips (File > import) and see if you can integrate them that way.
The next time you start a project, I'd suggest you either
leave the camera attached when you work on the project (as that is where iMovie expects them to be) or
download everything from your camera to your desktop into a folder. Then import into iMovie from there. Do not throw out or move that folder until your project has been finalized,, exported, shared, or burned - those processes will result in having a complete project which includes all the files, clips, etc. Until then, iMovie just "finds" all the files it needs in their original location.

  • Swf won't load on device - Flash icon with yellow warning triangle and number 9

I have an internet tablet - the Archos 5. I'm trying to
create a swf file that runs on the device. I made a small "hello
world" application in Flex 3. When I try to run it on the device I
get a blank white screen with a flash icon in the center. To the
lower right of the flash icon is a yellow "warning" triangle with
the number 9 inside of it.
I loaded the flash version checker on the device and that
runs properly. It claims that the player version is:
    AFL 9,1,115,0
    Debug player: No
    OS: Linux
    Video capable: Yes
    Audio capable: Yes
    Local File i/o enabled: No
Any hints as to what settings I need to switch in Flex 3 so I
can create applications for this device? The only thing I see that
looked promising is the "Require Flash Player version" setting, but
that's set to 9.0.124 - lower than the 9.1.115 version on the
    device.
    Thanks for any help

Flex does not run on all devices yet. Maybe it does not run
    on this one yet.

  • Missing media, yellow warning triangles.

I've recently consolidated my iTunes music library from an old external drive onto my new 1TB internal drive. Now I'm noticing in iMovie 09 that all the music is missing with yellow warning triangles.
Obviously iMovie is linking to the files that used to live on my old external drive. I can't find a way to repair the missing links.
Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly received.
    Regards,
    Dave

  • Yellow Warning Triangles

I made a book in iphoto and for some reason there is a yellow warning triangle at the top of every picture and page (evens pages with only words that do fit in the box). And when I try to preview the book it loads halfway then comes up with a notice saying, There is a problem with the photo with the filename “n55266606723501403857.jpg.” The full resolution version of this photo either cannot be located or is corrupt. Please replace this photo or delete it from your book, then stops. And when I clicked "buy book" to see what would happen and it says, One or more photos in your book may print at too low a quality based on the design you have chosen. Do you want to continue?
    How do I fix this???

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
The full resolution version of this photo either cannot be located or is corrupt.
That sound like the original file may be missing or the link to it broken. Find that photo in the Photos mode and try to edit it. Report back what you get.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in the library rebuild pane, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • Yellow warning triangle in title bar

Every Indesign doc I open has a yellow warning triangle next to the name in the title bar. I hadn't seen this before. Tried clicking/double clicking etc. but I can't find what the triangle is trying to tell me.  (Mac CS 5 Lion)

Please post a screen shot. You can use the camera icon on the web page to embed it in your post like this:
Are these older files that you are opeing for the first time in a new verion of ID? I've never heard of a warning triangle, but it might be some sort of Lion-only enhancement telling you that the file has not been saved. What version of ID are you using?

  • Event Library Title with yellow warning sign?

I just noticed that in my Event Library, I have and event with the yellow triangle ! sign (bottom right)
In the associated Project files, there are 3 projects with grayed out warning signs and what looks like sound icons.
I can't figure out what they might be referring to. The files play. Curious. Does anyone know
    Event Files
    Associated Project files

The grayed out icon you see in the project files indicates that you have shared the project. If you click on it and go to the inspector it will give you the specifics of the share. The yellow triangle probably means FCPX belirves there is a problem with the audio on some clips. Did you have FCPX analyze your audio on import? I as a rule do not and have not seen this icon in the brouser. I do have some clips when put into the timeline show that same icon in the inspector. I suggest you select one of the clips that display this alert icon and go to the inspector audio tab. I expect you will see what FCPX thinks is the problem.
Hope this at least gets you started on finding out what's going on.

  • What does the yellow warning triangle on my purple event icon mean?

what does it mean and how do i remove it?

As Tom mentioned, this is an indicator that something isn't linked correctly. A file may be missing while you may be playing back a rendered version of a file, you won'y be able to make changes to it without relinking it.
The way to eliminate the warning is to select your event, then select File > Relink Event Files. Select Missing and relink to the file(s) you need. This will remove the warning icon until another link can't be located by FCPx.

  • Yellow warning triangle badge

I've just found that a bunch of my photos in one project have a yellow triangle badge on them. In the manual (page 291) it says "The referenced image’s master has not been found." How could it have got lost? How do I get it back? I'm on Aperture 2.1.2.

Fortunately I had taken regular Time Machine backups.
Somehow I had the masters in a directory which I had deleted - I don't remember how. But when I looked up the Reference (File - Managed Referenced Files) I could see where the files had been and then recover that directory.
It seemed to take Aperture a few minutes to recognise all was well again but it now has and I can edit them as before.

  • Can i move iPhoto videos to events in iMovie ?

Is it ok to create a new event in iMovie and drag iphoto videos into it from the iphoto videos list in the imovie event browser, and then delete the videos in iphoto via the Trash) ?
    Thanks in advance

No. That would cause you to lose the videos.
When you use videos in iMovie from the iPhoto section of the Event browser, it is referencing the copy in iPhoto.

  • Where do deleted events in imovie go?

it says "trash" but apparently there is no dedicated trash for imovie and the deleted events do not show in my mac trash. what is up? where are these deleted files? i have seen others ask this question on boards but no one seems to know where they actually go and if they are, in fact, deleted. anyone?

Just so there is no mistaking my question..i delted an event in imovie 10.0.2 on my macbookpro which i updated to maverick last week. the event was gone from my imovie library but never showed up in my finder trash. i DID NOT empty the trash before i looked there. i tried a few experimental deleting events from imovie and it never shows up in my mac finder trash. question: anyone know if, indeed, the event was deleted and if so, how (since i did not empty the trash, nopr did it even show up to empty)? And if not, where did the deleted events go?

  • Why is the music clip marked with a yellow warning sign?

While browsing my project library today, I noticed that every music clip associated with a particular project is marked with a yellow "warning" triangle (with an exclamation point in the center). What's worse, the music won't play.
I had previously uploaded this video to YouTube, where it now plays just fine. But I'm still puzzled by the warning sign, and by the fact that the music won't play when I take a look at it in my Project Library.
I've never had a warning sign like this emerge in connection with anything else I've put together with iMovie. Why is it there, and why are the music clips inoperative? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi !
I have a question. I had that little warning sign as well but in the clip I had just imported into the event library... I don't understand because when I went to the folder in which iMovie copies the clips I import, it was right there. Same name, same size, same runtime... and it played perfectly; and I could preview the clip in iMovie. But the thumbnail was gray with that little sign. Also, I couldn't delete the clip from my library.
I closed iMovie, started it again... the clip is in the library, no more gray thumbnail and little yellow sign.
    How is that possible ?!

  • Suddenly my event library in iMovie 11 is empty.  I have tried deleting the plist, importing clips from multiple locations (to see if they show up in the library), re-installing iMovie, and re-installing Mountain Lion. Help??

Suddenly my event library in iMovie 11 is empty.  I have tried deleting the plist, importing clips from multiple locations (to see if they show up in the library), re-installing iMovie, and re-installing Mountain Lion.
I was working on a project, when all of a sudden the event library went blank.  There are no devices showing in the left column, only "last import" and "aperture videos".  There are no video clips in the editing window.  I have "Show: All Clips" selected.  I've tried "group events by disk".
When I have a Project open, it plays just fine.  There are no yellow triangles saying "source clip is missing".  Yet, again...nothing is in the event library large editing window.  So, it seems the data is still there, but invisible.  This is true with all the projects, and all the external devices I've experimented by plugging in to see if their video clips show up in the event library.
I have tried to import new movies, and iMovie responds as normal...looking like it's importing, then "generating thumbnails", then it makes the "ding" signalling that the import is complete...but nothing shows in the event library.  I've tried importing movies from the harddrive, from quicktime, and from an external drive.
I have searched the forums, and found many users with a similar, but not the same, problem.  For them, it seems the "go to users-library-preferences and delete iMovie plist" has solved their problem.  This didn't work for me.
I uninstalled/reinstalled iMovie, I even have re-installed Mountain Lion (from a last-ditch effort suggestion from Apple technician).
HERE'S AN INTERESTING DETAIL:  After almost 5 hours on the phone with Apple, I decided to cut my losses and take my project to another Mac I have.  I'm working on a project, for work, that is critical that it's completed by tonight (whoops), and all my video is on an external drive.  So, I plug in the external drive to Mac #2, open iMovie, and everything is looking fine.  I continue importing some files I was converting, through Wondershare, and suddenly (whether or not this has to do with the importing, I'm not sure), the SAME THING happened to Mac #2!!!!  I can't believe this.
Does anyone have any suggestions?  Have you ever heard of this happening?  Could it have to do with the files I'm importing???
I apologize if my language is confusing.  Obviously, I'm not an Apple genius-person!  I hope I've provided all the information you need.
    Mac #1 is a 27" desktop, mid-2012, software up-to-date.  Mac #2 is a 24" desktop, about 4 years old, OSX 10.7.5

    I'm adding more information:
in Finder, my iMovie folders are all visible and accessible.  When I click on a clip from iMovie Events folder, Quicktime opens and plays the clip.  ALL my video is not missing - it just isn't showing up in the Event Library!
This happened all of a sudden, while I was working on iMovie project (on both computers).
All my Projects are intact, and play when I open them.

  • IMovie crashes when event deleted or renamed. Events were moved to Disk C.

I have a problem that has stumped me, the phone Mac Genius, and my local store Genius. iMovie '09 worked well for me but System drive A was getting too full. I moved both the iMovie Project and Event Folders to a separate internal hard drive. I did not do it within the iMovie program itself. I simply copied the folders and deleted the originals. Somewhere in there I upgraded to Snow Leopard but that may be unrelated. Things seemed to work fine until I tried to rename an Event, delete an event, or discard rejected clips. If I do those things, iMovie crashes without making the changes. It deposits some files in the trash in the effort. I can rename or delete a project OK. I can still import, edit, and share movies seemingly normally.
I notice that when I create a DVD in iDVD, that all my iMovies appear twice in the Media Browser, one full set after the other.
I tried all the usual things. Deleted all the preference files that I could find. Reinstalled iMovie. Reinstalled Snow Leopard. Even did an erase and clean reinstall of Snow Leopard and iLife '09 on my drive A. Switched drives B and C. Problem persists.
If I import a small clip from my Flip Camera to Drive A, I cannot change name or delete. If I remove Drive C with all my video (500 GB+) from its bay, then I can change name and delete the events on Drive A.
Seems to me there is some registry information within the event or project files that I scrambled when I moved them to another internal hard drive. Was there some other way I should have tried? What happened and how can I recover?

Same problem for me too. If you look at the top section of your crash report you see reference to 3ivx, this is some kind of video codec. I did a search on my mac for 3ivx and uninstalled it. This fixed the problem. See these two articles for more information:

    Hope this helps.
