HT204406 genius not working in itunes match
I am finding 3 problems when using Itunes Match through my apple tv - some of the artwork doesnt appear even though it is in my Itunes library; some songs occassionally stop playing prematurely; but most annoying is that genius doesnt seem to work...anyone find an answer?
I had the sem thing happen with afew songs that used to give genius results, but now say "canot" and asks me to update Genius... even though I just did (twice to make sure).
My Genius results used to be great, with Genius Playlists set to 50 songs it used to have a variety of artists and the songs would fit pretty well with the seed song.
But since I update my Genius after upgrading to iTunes 9 (to get the Genius Mixes), when selecting a seed song , the 50-song Genius Playlist created seems to just select 5 or 6 artists and repeat songs from those same 5 or 6 artists to fill the playlist with. And the 5 or 6 artists it selects are definitely not as good a match to the seed song as they used to be... I have over 27k songs with over 6200 artists, it's not like Genius doesn't have enough to chose from.

If you are working with 32 bit you can use

I bought Apple Tv last week and also bought the Itunes match , but whenever i open music on my apple tv , it says

i have already turned on itunes match on my Apple Tv and computer . Still its not working .I had a similar issue. As of September 29, 2014. After setting up iTunes Match on my Mac through iTunes, iTunes Match was not working on Apple TV. The weird thing was that it worked on my iPhone 5 and Late 2013 iMac. Strangely Apple TV was the newest device. I and the newest OSs available for all my devices (iMac, iPhone and Apple TV - either OS X 10.9.5 and/or iOS 8.0.2).
I called Apple Support and spoke with someone who had me log out of and back into my Apple account through Apple TV. I was then prompted to activate iTunes Match on Apple TV (3rd Generation).
That fixed the problem for me.
Be advised that you need to remember your Apple TV password in order to sign back in. Apple TV does not cache Apple ID passwords.
I suggested to the Rep that they need to make the process much simpler via a way to Refresh iTunes or, at least, add Keychain to Apple TV so that I did not have to go through this again. I suggest other users make the same requests through Apple Feedback for Apple TV. -

Itunes match will be in a loop. I have unlimited internet but it does take up bandwith. The worse problem is it can never finish step three. I have tryed signing in and out of my apple ID, but that does not seem to help. I go to my iphone and it has songs that are localy stored on it greyed out, like what people are saying about songs they have in the cloud. I can figure it out, i tryed these steps of getting the song off icloud, bring it back in, the uploading it. It just does not seem to be doing anything for me, pleas help!Hi,
What is the iCloud status of these tracks?
You can add icloud status column to song view - go to menu > view> view options and tick box. This will tell you what has been Matched, Uploaded, Purchased, Inelligible, Duplicate or Waiting.

Genius not working with some songs
why does genius not work with some of my songs?
For songs which the genius can't come up with a play list it seems the artist is either too small, too new, or the metadata doesn't match. For example, I had "Cardigans - Love fool" selected and I noticed iTunes had it in my "Songs your missing". I changed it to "The Cardigans - Lovefool", and then selected "Update Genius". After this iTunes removed it from the "Songs your missing", and was able to create a playlist.
The problem is I don't know how many songs iTunes can't figure out. I wish I could create a smart playlist of all the songs which the genius couldn't figure out. The problem isn't so much that I can't get a playlist from a song I selected, but I know if the genius skips a song, then it won't include it with other recommendations. While the genius feature is great, I'd hate to find out in six months that it's been ignoring 75% of my library.
In order to get some of my indy music to play with the genius playlist, I create a smart playlist which includes a genius playlist, and then a list of artists which it can also choose from.
While it's great that the genius can figure out information from the cloud, it could spend more time looking at patterns within your own library. If I create a playlist of New Jersey rock bands, it should be able to figure out that my indy artists are related to the mainstream artists in the same playlist.
The good thing about the Genius is it understands that people listen to multiple genres. I like to listen to classical when I'm studying, and folk music when I'm surfing the web. Last.fm will create a recommended playlist of half classical and half folk. The genius doesn't look at your whole library and come up with something that tries to match all your tastes. As a result of it using genres to cluster music, it doesn't mix holiday music in with your playlists like other recommendation services do. -
When I'm on the same WiFi network as the computer I sync my iPhone to, I can se a lot of songs in my music app marked with the little cloud icon. And when I leave the network, I can see only the songs with this icon that I have played and therefore probably cached.
Where can I read more about this function and get to know it better?
It seems to work like iTunes Match, only limited to 'local' use. I'm not an iTunes Match subscriber, but I have the 'Show all music' setting enabled.
It's a cool function, both it's a bit annoying that i uses up my available storagecapacity. I keep getting warnings that my storage is almost full.

How does the payment method work with iTunes Match. For example, if you have a gift card, does it take it out of that. Or is there tax? What if you cancel your subscription in the middle of the year, does it take the money for that year or not? If someone could answer those questions it would be greatly apreciated. My IPhone 5 will not recognize that I have an Itunes Match account. When I try to turn the Itunes Match button on in settings I get a mesage saying I am not subscribed to ITunes Match. This does not happen with my Ipad. Any Ideas what to do?

I have just now tried the Reinstall via iTunes, about 20 into the download, the iTunes logo on the phone disappeared, and the Apple Logo appeared again,,, I waited until the iTunes stated that the download had finished, and the install was in progress,,,

Robin, I have the 4S too. Here's wha I've been doing. Well, I am downloading wma books, but it is super time consuming and annoying. First, shut off genius in your preferences in iTunes. Also change to spoken podcast for speed. Then, you start to transfer from Overdrive. It will create a playlist with your book title. Open up books though because you need to keep an eye on it. It may download like three parts and then you may have a grey one. When you get the grey, cancel the transfer, delete the greyed part, exit iTunes, re-enter iTunes, and then try to download the remaining book parts. I usually have to re-enter iTunes three or four different times during a book. When your book is downloaded, all black and none grey, open up the playlist folder and double check that all parts made it in there. If not, carry them from the books folder to the playlist and then move it into numerical order.
Re non bookmarking problem. I now have a new habit of checking what part I am on before i shut off my phone or switch to another book. It does save where you were, it just doesn't show you. For instance, if I start part three and then play music, and then go back to the book playlist, it will appear as if we are back to the beginning, but if I go to part three, it will start up from where I was. So, just start checking and then it is easy. I am flabbergasted that no other proper solution has been offered by Overdrive. This has been a problem since October. I also wish they would acknowledge the problem on their website as well as post what version number of update they have. I have 3.2.1.0 and think that's current. Does anyone have newer than this. An easy, quick workaround is to plug external speakers into your laptop and take it with you in the car. A bit unwieldy, but I can't commute without books. -

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

I keep getting the following message "some items (meaning all of them) were not transferred because iTunes match is enabled." when I try to drag and drop a playlist, song, or album to my iPhone. This was NEVER a problem before iTunes match or the last iOS update. So what is the deal? Why can't i just add music to my phone from the mac? There is space on the phone. The only way I have found to get the music i want to the phone is to have it download from the phone. This is not something i want to have to do: go through and manually add every album and recreate a playlist on the phone when its there on the mac. And, even more irritating, since the new update, when the phone is plugged into the mac i can't actually view from the mac what music is on the phone. This is incredibly frustrating and any help would be much appreciated in managing my music libraries for each device.

You cannot manually manage music with match turned on on your iOS device. If you want to manage music manually, you will need to turn off match on your iPhone.

iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio. People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.
Solve this problem of yours ASAP for us, your numerous disgruntled, dissatisfied customers of iTunes. You can do better, should, and really –in all fairness- must.

Apple ACCOUNT ID, and iTunes ID password, works but not to access iTunes with my healthy internet connection.
Apple store id It works via direct internet connetion but not through iTunes. Very strange.

When fist setting up your new iphone you will be asked to log in with an apple id and password. If this did not happen you can then do as you suggested going to settings to itunes and app store and add your apple id login. This apple id login must have already been created for the iphone to accept it. If this apple id is already created but is not being accepted by your iphone you then should shut down your iphone and restart the device.
