HT204406 iTunes Match random songs are not upconverted to 256

I just signed up to iTunes Match and uploaded my music.  Many of the albums were only partially upgraded to 256kb.  I am not talking about obscure music either.  For example, Andrew Lloyd Weber Evita Broadway.  All tracks except 2 were upgraded.  I've tried deleting my entire library from the computer and re-downloading on a Windows machine.  Then tried the same on my MacBook Pro.  Then tried the suggested method of creating a playlist of the low fidelity songs, deleting only those in the playlist, then redownloading.  Next, I am going try deleting everything from iCloud and reuploading, then redownloading.
This is ridiculous!  ITunes Match has been out for a while now.  I expected simple bugs like this to have been worked out.  I can't find a fix anywhere and Match doesn't appear to be refundable.  I'd like my $25 back.  I'd give it to my local foodbank.  It was certainly wasted on iTunes Match.

Hi,
I suggest that you read tis user tip Some User Tips (April 2015)
iTunes match scans your iTunes library to determine what can be matched or needs to be uploaded. You can add iCloud status column to song view. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate. Tracks uploaded will be uploaded as is and you won't be able to upgrade them.. those that are matched can be upgraded by deleting the original and downloading the matched version.
Deleting and readding tracks will not solve match problems as match remembers previous matches and uploads.

  • Many random songs are not "found" by iTunes. How can I locate in bulk?

After I left external hard drive off, iTunes defalted to "c" drive for music file. I re-mapped itunes to my external drive yet many of my songs are not found. Why are some of my songs found while others are not? All the songs are on my external and when I individually "locate" not found songs they work fine. Is there a way to point iTunes to these songs in bulk rather than having to do each song individually??

Interesting, this is the first time I hear one can purchase songs via Facebook. Note that unless youpurchased the songs from iTunes, you will not be able to add them to the Music app on your iPHone.

  • Itunes match says songs are all uploaded but can't access them on iPhone

I signed up for itunes match last weekend, and went through the long process of matching and uploading songs. It finally finished today, specifically saying that my library is available in the cloud. But I can't access any of my library on my iPhone, even with itunes match turned on. Since itunes match is fairly new I haven't come across anything that would help. If someone out there could help I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

OK, anything that says "ineligible" or "error" is NOT in the cloud.  Itunes match may have told you that the matching process was complete, but all it was telling you was that the SESSION was complete.  Only items with a "matched" or "uploaded" icon next to them are in the cloud.  So this is your real problem.  Your iPhone is telling you the truth.
It's clear you have some reading to do, followed by some work to on your iTunes library, but all is not lost.  you can make copies of most ineligible songs within iTunes, re-run Match and get the eligible copies into the cloud.  I could walk you through it, but Apple's been good enough to provide support documents, which I'll link you to at the bottom of this message.
The most important thing you need to do first, is to figure out what kind of files you have that are ineligible.  Keep in mind that iTunes Match only accepts music, not audiobooks, not music videos (except those purchased through the iTunes store), so some things in your iTunes library aren't going to work no matter what.  If you have any Digital Rights Management (DRM) protected tracks, those will work, provided the computer you are using for iTunes Match is authorized to play them.  Usually the tracks that people find are ineligible are low bitrate MP3s - songs they didn't purchase through iTunes. Some other music file types also are ineligible.
In both cases, the solution is to highlight those songs, go to the Advanced menu in iTUnes and select "Make AAC version."  What I do is let it make the copies, then without clicking anywhere in iTunes I hit the delete key.  This will delete the originals, but leave the new copies.  You can opt to just have them removed from your library, so they simply will no longer show up in iTunes (preferable until you are sure the copies are ok))
That's the short story.  Here's a link to the support documents.

  • HT204406 I have updated my music on iTunes Match, but they are not available on my iPad mini, please help

I have loaded my music via iTunes Match, have paid the £22.00,but my music is not available on my iPad mini.
How do I get music onto my iPad

Are you prperly logged in on the iPad and have iTunes match turned on (Settings > General > Music.  iTunes Match (turned on) and Show All Music (On)

  • ITunes Match: my playlists are not current

My playlists are not current when they are updated (changed content, created new one) on my Mac (without Match).
On my iPad the playlists are then not changed (with Match). Although  the new songs will be included,

    Wait a minute...
You're saying that when you change a playlist on the Mac that does not have iTunes Match enabled you expect those changes to show up on your iPad that does have iTunes Match enabled? That's not going to happen.
    Why would you expect that?

  • HT204406 itunes match playlists from imac not appearing on ios devices

I've finally gotten my entire iTunes library onto iTunes Match.  (Be patient folks, it only took 4 weeks for my entire library to load!)
However, the Playlists that I've created on my iMac are not appearing on any of my IOS devices (iPad, iPhone, etc.).
Can anybody help me with what needs to be done on my iPhone and iPad to import my iTunes playlists from my iMac?
    Thanks in advance!

The cause is likely to be a corruption of the iTunes library on the iPhone.  The neatest route is to reset the iPhone to factory condition.
The alternate is to remove the iPhone library files and force it to rebuild them - this is a little more complex but has the upside that you do not need to recreate content on the iPhone, the steps needed are:
    1. Connect iPhone, open iExplorer (or equivalent)
    2. Navigate to iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control\iTunes
    3. Delete these 3 files:
              MediaLibrary.sqllitedb
              MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm
              MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal
    4. Hard reboot the iPhone (home button + sleep/wake button, hold until you see the apple logo)
Hope that these will work for you - the simplest alternates is here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22457142#22457142

  • HT204406 iTunes Match ISSUE: we could not complete your itunes store request.  an unknown error occured (-50)

I cannot turn on my iTunes Match.  When I try to add my computer it just says:
"we could not complete your itunes store request.  an unknown error occured (-50)"
and then I press ok and it says:
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request.  The network connection could not be established"

Apple appears to be having trouble with the iTunes Store servers right now. Wait for them to fix it.

  • IPod touch won't play ANY music, only skips. All music plays when FROM ipod when plugged into iTunes. No, songs are not corrupt, I was playing an album through iTunes from my iPod and for no reason iTunes froze and now I'm having issues with my iPod.

So I was playing an album from my iPod through iTunes like normal, and the album ended. I switched to iTunes view to change to a new one and it said "iPod is done syncing" (I did not choose to sync, nor did anything appear different). I tried to click on a song to play and iTunes froze. I had to restart iTunes and when I ejected my iPod (properly) the syncing sign was still turning on my iPod. As of now my iPod only skips through every song I try to play, but when I plug it into iTunes every song FROM my iPod plays perfectly.
No, I do not want to "factory reset" my iPod. No I do not wish to do anything crazy long or hard to fix this. Everything was working fine before when it decided to do this with very little effort, therefore I would like it fixed with very little effort.
I have tried resycing my iPod multiple times (every time I eject it from iTunes it appears to do so properly [iPod icon goes away] but the syncing icon still appears on my iPod).
I have almost 58 GB of music on my iPod so I'm not interested in starting from scratch. Also a good portion of my music is on a computer I don't have access to anymore so that's out of the question. Since the music seems to be uncorrupted (still plays from iPod in iTunes) I want a way to fix this iPod issue without having to erase anything.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    You said:
No, I do not want to "factory reset" my iPod. No I do not wish to do anything crazy long or hard to fix this.
That may be necessary, It is not what you want to do/not do but what is required to resolve your problem.

  • I purchased a full album on iTunes and some songs are not playing in full why is this?

    why is that?

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past purchases, delete the current copy from your iTunes library and then download again from your purchased history. If the problem persists, or that facility is not available in your region contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history.

  • BIZARRE - iTunes tells me songs are not authorized, then says they are???

Purchased several songs & a couple albums. Burned a couple of the albums to CD to use in my car. Whatever songs I burned to CD now will not play in iTunes. Message appears saying +"This computer is not authorized to play "Song Title". Would you like to authorize it?"+ HOWEVER, if I then enter my password to try & authorize the song(s) a 2nd message appears: +"This computer is already authorized."+
Says I need to authorize songs, then says I can't authorize because it's already authorized. End result is I can't use anything I've purchased. What could cause this?

Not sure about the question below, but I got my issue taken care of by de-authorizing iTunes, then reauthorizing it. I did receive a response from Apple within 48 hours as well and they de-authorized all my accounts as well - Apple is apparently aware of this issue and it seems to be isolated to the new version of iTunes (8).

  • Random songs are stopping early when playing in iTunes 11.2.2, any ideas as to why?

I've never had this issue before now, and it's only doing it to random songs. I checked the stop time and it's set to the end of each one, but iTunes still ends it earlier than it should. Any ideas? Thanks...

    Hey bgrsox,
Thanks for the question. I understand that random songs are not playing back fully in iTunes. The following resource may assist you:
Songs in iTunes may not play back completely
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4357
    Symptoms
Occasionally, if a song purchased from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC was not downloaded completely, the song may not play back fully. The song may abruptly stop during playback, and iTunes may start playing the next song in your library or playlist.
    Resolution
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
    1. Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
    2. Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
    3. Download your previously purchased song from this list.
Note: iTunes in the Cloud, which allows you to download previously purchased songs from the iTunes Store, is not available in every country. Learn if iTunes in the Cloud is offered in your country.

  • HT4914 Can I use iTunes match if I am not sure whether there are any pirated songs in my library

Can I use iTunes match if I am not sure whether there are any pirated songs in my library

iTunes match should work for that. I am assuming your friend gave you some music from a flash drive, and yor not sure if he/sh pirided it or not, and this is understandible. this screen shot should help. I also sugest looking into google play, which is not as convienet as far as combining with iTunes, but is free I bleive.

  • HT204406 Uploaded CD last night. I see it in itunes match. However can only download some of the songs. Few have the Icon to download from Itunes Match, however it is not able to be clicked on. It's a lighter icon then other download ones.

I uploaded a CD last night. I see it in my ituned match on my work cpu. I can download 6 of the 10 songs. The other 4 have an Icon to download from Itunes Match, however it is not able to be clicked on. // See Pearl Jam Ten. I can download almost half the songs. The others remaining I cannot though they say they are available. I've reset the cache, I've closed and reopened Itunes, I have even turned MATCH off and then back on. Nothing is working. Please help. Also the song will not play. If I start the album, it skips over these songs.

The number of Songs that 'matched' is simply a function of the current iTunes Match service process.  It is not unusual to have multiple Songs in an otherwise perfectly matched album be uploaded - often it is very possible to find the album in the iTunes Store.
The Artwork does tend to reappear for many over a few days / weeks - however, if your library backup has all Artwork present it would be wise to save the Album Art separately and reapply to Albums not showing art work in the library grid view.
Many of the other performance issues you mention are not typical - though during the past working week or so the Apple Infrastructure has been very heavily loaded with multiples countries having service go-live symultaneously.

  • I recently deleted many duplicate files. In the midst of it my Itunes songs are not in Itunes. They are in two different folders. One under 'Music' in my ID. And two under a MyMusic file in Documents. How do I know which one to import?

Thanks, this is not an ideal answer but probably the most sensible one in my case.
I will try it unless someone has a better suggestion, but I'll wait a bit as it will take me a few days anyway (I had actually tried to create a new smaller playlist or download by album, but at this stage the music app is not letting me queue a list of songs for download - I think I will have to disable and re-enable iTunes match which will probably delete all the songs).
I have to say I am not very impressed with Apple here - having an online backup of all your data and beeing able to restore it to a new device easily was a strong selling point of iCloud. For music, they are Definitly not delivering at the stage.

  • When transfering music into itunes, music not showing in itunes app, but songs are in music folder.

when i transfered many songs from external hard drive into itunes library, the songs do not appear after transfer completes. it appears as if songs are being added to library. when i search through itunes app, songs are missing, when i go to the folder on computer that holds my itunes library songs are there. any help?
latest version of itunes with windows 7.
    thanks

Create a smart playlist that would match one of the albums. I suspect you'll find the tracks show up in it...
My guess is that something has gone wrong with the internal index of the Music playlist. Download the current iTunes Free Single of the Week. I know it sounds odd, but it should  fix the problem.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes library folder, then start iTunes again. iTunes should run a consistency check when it starts up which ought to clear up any anomalies.
