HT204406 iTunes Match Says I'm over 25000 Songs (But I'm NOT!)

I'm having a pretty large and frustrating problem with iTunes Match over these past couple days.  I recently did a bunch of replacing of lower res MP3s with Apple Lossless versions of said songs.  All of the songs I've upgraded were in the cloud and I both deleted them from my iMac, and checked the box to delete them from the cloud before importing the AL versions and (expecting) them to be easily brought into the cloud in turn.
But something's wrong.  My main machine only lists 24812 songs... but I get that **** message telling me I'm over 25000.  I've been over 25000 before, and know what it's like to have to cut music out of my library to bring things back down to size.  But this is NOT what's happening now.
Further, I'm able to check my Match songs on another Mac linked to this account.  That computer has nothing on the physical hard drive, and indicates only 24402 songs in the cloud.
So now what?  This service is beyond frustrating with the 25000 song limit as it is... but it's particularly galling to not be at that point, yet told I am while no clear way of resolving the problem is presented.
I've tried signing out, signing back in... restarting everything... signing out of Genius and back in... out of Match and back in... it feels hopeless.
Anyone have any ideas?  I really need to fix this ASAP.
Much appreciated!

In case helpful, I just had exactly the same problem. I tracked down the cause for me, which was as follows:
I turned off iTunes Match
I then imported some CDs.
This would have put me over 25000 songs so I proceeded to delete some other CDs in my library
I then turned on iTunes Match (I should have done so before step 20.
This now meant I had say 24500 + 600 songs - 700 different songs - Match saw this as 24500 + 600 with 700 songs in the Cloud too (I hadn't deleted them from Match yet). So I was now over 25000 songs
Hopefully that makes sense.
My solution has been to delete the newly uploaded songs, turn on iTunes Match, delete the 700 songs from both my Match and local accounts I no longer wanted, re-add the 600 new songs. So I will end up at 24400 rather than 24500 songs.
Hopefully this may help you.

  • HT204406 iTunes Match saying I'm limited to 5 devices...but I don't have 5 devices and won't work on my MacBook Pro. Please Help!

I've just got a new MacBook Pro, and want to have iTunes Match on it. But when I go to 'add this computer' in iTunes on the MacBook, a message comes up saying I've reached my limit of Match being on 5 devices. This makes no sense because I only have match on my iPad and my old Windows laptop and nothing else.
Out of curiosity, I turned off iTunes Match on my iPad to see what would happen, but I still cannot get Match on my MacBook Pro.
    Please help!

    Do a backup before proceeding.
Try putting the 10.6.3 disk in the computer. During a restart, hold down the option/alt key, select the disk, and see if you can boot from there. If so, select the language, then go to the Utilities menu, and select Disk Utility. Check to see what partition scheme you have by selecting the hard drive.
If you don't have GUID, you are going to need to erase the drive and reformat, which will cause you to lose all your data. Did I mention doing a backup?
If you do have GUID, run Disk Utility repair disk and repair permissions. You may have to do this more than once. Then try in install 10.6.3.
If successful, use the combo update to get to 10.6.8 and then run Software update until there are no more updates.

  • HT204406 iTunes Match full..can't access songs on my PC now to edit some out..help!!!!

I was excited to have my iTunes Match...loaded my songs on there via my PC.. Life was great...UNTIL..I exceeded the limit of songs allowed..now I can't get into my iTunes Match to edit out songs to get back in control of my matched songs...HELP!!!!!!!

"the songs appear on the my itunes folder w/ my ipod but they are ghosted and not accessible..."
Grey text when you look at the content and a lock symbol at the bottom of the screen just indicates that the iPod is set to update automatically (sync). If you want to access the iPod directly, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos. If you want to manage it manually then connect your iPod and click on the iPod icon in the iTunes source list to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. In the Summary tab check the box "manually manage music and videos" and click Apply:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on the desktop and check this link for alternative methods:: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Whenever I try to log into my itunes it says I have a -50 error, but I'm not downloading anything. I don't know why it won't let me log in.

I don't know why my itunes won't let me log in. All the Apple website tells me is that it's an error when I'm downloading something, but I'm not downloading anything.

    Hey shelbylynn18,
Thanks for the question. (-50) is a timeout error that can occur when downloading content or when simply trying to access the iTunes Store. If you have automatic downloads enabled, you may be experiencing this error when iTunes is attempting to automatically download available content.
iTunes Store: "Error (-50)" when downloading purchased content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1583
This can happen when the connection timeout occurs while downloading purchased content from the iTunes Store. Certain types of software may also affect the way a computer sends and receives information from the internet. Here are a few examples of these types of software:
    - Firewalls
    - Web Accelerators
    - Ad Filters
    - Virus Protection Software
    Resolution
If you have any of the software listed above, and you cannot access the iTunes Store or complete your download, you will need to configure these applications to allow iTunes to connect to the Internet.
Refer to the documentation that came with that software, and if necessary contact the software's manufacturer. You will need to configure the software to allow the following domains to send and receive data from the Internet.
    - itunes.apple.com
    - ax.itunes.apple.com
    - albert.apple.com
    - gs.apple.com
    - deimos3.apple.com
    - phobos.apple.com
If a web accelerator appears to be causing the issue, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or the software manufacturer. If your computer is on a network, you may also want to try using a different computer on the network, or discuss the issue with the network administrator.

  • HT204406 iTunes Match / Cloud problems

iTunes match says you can have up to 25000 tunes but when i access my music on my iPhone i only have about 21000 from my library available and there are definately tunes/albums missing that i know are in my main itunes and no reason why they would not be available in itunes. The message i get in my iTunes is i have reached my 25000 limit,i have about 38000 in my itunes library (quite a few duplicates). also iTunes doesn't appear to work now on my phone , when i click into anything it appears greyed out as though i cant listen/purchase it and itunes then freezes up,is this because it says i am at my cloud limit?.  Has anyone else experienced these problems.   Thanks

Nevermind! I feel ridiculous but I've found the solution and... It was simple. In my settings, under music, I had it set to only show music downloaded onto the iPhone. Ha..

  • Itunes match. says error 4010

I have been trying to get my itunes match to work for a really long time.  there was a time that it was on and then i got a window saying to long out and then log back in.  after I logged back in, I have been getting the error 4010. and that it cannot connect to store.

Yes, but does it work the next time you add to your library?
If I do all the steps (sign in, turn off, sign out, reset, sign out, quit, open, shake, repeat) I can sometimes get iTunes Match to work ONCE, I think. But then it fails with some random error message (4001, 4002, 4010, 3132, etc) the next time it runs. It basically makes it useless, and sometimes it seems to screw up iTunes as well, with things I've bought downloading a second time, or the program hanging.
This need to work. Why hasn't Apple addressed this problem? It's obvious a lot of people are having it.

My pc has crashed and lost a considerable amount of music and videos from iTunes the files are still in iTunes but are empty, will iTunes Match restore my content over the cloud?

Hm ... I guess I can't edit the post above. Anyway, I seem to have solved it by ...
    Quitting iTunes.
Going into Home / Music / iTunes, and renaming the file "iTunes Library.itl" to "iTunes Library (corrupt).itl".
Entering Time Machine, and restoring the "iTunes Library.itl" file from a few days ago. I went back two days, which seemed far enough back to be "before" the problem but not far enough back to have trouble with recent acquisitions.
Re-opening iTunes - and everything seemed to be back in order.
So that's fine for now. We'll see if the solution is stable.
Very, very tentative assignment of blame: I believe iTunes crashed earlier today after I'd synced photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, and then iTunes crashed while iPhoto was closing (and taking its sweet time doing so). If that was indeed the case, that's at least the second time in the past couple of months that trying to sync iPhone photos to iPhoto has caused me significant problems. (The last time led to 80% of my iPhone suddenly being occupied by "Other", and a full restore of the darn thing.)

  • ITunes Match says music was matched, but it's not visible on iOS devices

I have a library of 16,000+ songs in iTunes. I understand some of my music won't be available, but what's puzzling me is this:
    - iTunes Match (the iCloud icon) indicates a song/album was MATCHED (in this case, Opeth's "Blackwater Park" and Amon Amarth's "Versus the World").
    - In the Music app on my iPhone 4S, other songs/albums by those artists are available for download, and I have successfully downloaded them. However, those albums are not visible to download.
    - "Show All Music" is enabled under Settings -> Music.
So, as the title says, iTunes on both computers have iTunes Match enabled, and both say those albums are "Matched", but they're not visible as available for download on my iPhone 4S.
    Any ideas?

Actually, the cloud icon next to a song in your library means iTunes is "waiting" for a result for the song. To find out what the actual status of the song is you should turn on the iCloud Status column in the iTunes Browser. Pull down View > View Options and select "iCloud Status." You'll see one of several statuses next to the song. The most common will be "purchased," "matched," "uploaded," "waiting." If the songs you have questions about have an cloud icon next to them in the iCloud Download column then the status will probably be "waiting" which means the matching process is not complete yet. When a song is "matched" it will not have a cloud icon next to it.
When you click the iTunes Match entry in the left-hand column what do you see?

  • Not enough free space when there is - iTunes says I have over 9GB free but when I sync it says I can't as i don't have enough storage and need another 1.3GB!  it's driving me mad!!  help!!

iTunes says I have over 9GB free but when I sync it says I can't as i don't have enough storage and need another 1.3GB!  it's driving me mad!!  help!!

Check carefully. Perhaps you are trying to copy 9 GB plus 1.3 GB for a total of 10.3 GB. That would give you the message you see.

  • ITunes Match is having errors d/l songs to my iPhone 4s. Then I can't delete them, and it says some songs are playing when they aren't. I've restored my iPhone, same issue.

iTunes Match is having errors d/l songs to my iPhone 4s. Then I can't delete them, and it says some songs are playing when they aren't. I've restored my iPhone, same issue.

According to this article  Using iPhone on an airplane  you should be able to listen to music with Airplay Mode enabled.
Make sure you have Music switched on in Settings > Store or your music won't download via Wi-Fi.

  • ITunes Match says "Matching your music with songs from iTunes store".

iTunes Match says "Matching your music with songs from iTunes store". This will not finish. I cannot put any new songs on iTunes Match. This started today. It was working fine. I have deleted my entire library and I can't even get one song to go through. Thoughts? I've been working with this all day. I have uninstalled iTunes, downgraded iTunes, upgraded iTunes again. Finally, I erased all data...Libraries...playlist data, etc.. I'm extremely frustrated now. I had synced about 4,000 songs since September and it had been working fine. Any help would be great.

I think your right that it is not completely impossible to match any song, although I have tried several songs from several different albums and none have worked so far. The weird thing is is that I have the same Match account on two different computers, and when I match a song on one and it gets stuck, I can see it in my library on the other computer but its greyed out. Not sure what that means. It has worked perfeclty for me since I got it in March, so I'm hoping whatever it is gets sorted out by Apple. If it starts working for any of you please let me know in this discussion!
