HT204406 Match stops in step 2 at "5056 of 5057" matched & will go no further

There is nothing in the FAQs for this problem that I can spot, but no longer how long I run "Match" it will never progress to step 3, showing all but 1 of my library in the step 2 process completed. I'm running all current OS versions for iTunes and my laptops OS an

Hi,
Are all the tracks still on your hard drive? Are the tracks with the download symbols itune purchase?
It will take some time especially if match needs to upload tracks. I suggest that you add icloud status column. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting.
You may already have tried this but try it again - hold shift key whilst turning off match, close itunes, reboot computer, open itunes and turn on match. Let match complete its scan, make sure that computer does not go to sleep as loss of internet connect will cause match to stall.
Read this tip if you have not already done so. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4113

You've tried tapping on the Collections button at the top of the bookshelf to see if they are in a different collection ? If not then do you have a copy of them in the Books part of your computer's iTunes library (though PDFs aren't iTunes purchases, if you've done 'transfer purchases' whilst they were on the iPad then they should have copied over) ?
ibooks and PDFs aren't included in a device's backup, so if they aren't in your computer's iTunes library and/or you don't have your own backup copy of them then they won't be on your computer (for info there isn't an iBooks app/program for a Mac or PC).

  • HT204406 My iTunes Match will not complete Step 3 of the uploading process. Many songs are "waiting"

My iTunes Match will not complete Step 3 of the uploading process. I have over 700 "items" designated as "waiting." I have restarted multiple times but it stalls at this point.

I've been reading all these comments about how match is not working and people are having problems uploading all their songs.  My problem is more basic than that.  When I open iTunes I immediately get the spinning color disc of death and I can't do anything at all.  I can't go to the store.  I can't listen to a song. I can't do anything.  I just tried to sync my iPod.  I pugged it into my computer, iTunes started up, looked like it was going to sync, then the spinning disc again.  So forget match; I can't do anything, nada, nothing.   I even tried to send my iTunes application to trash, but I got a message saying I couldn't do that because it was needed for OS X.  Talk about a do loop, this is unbelievable.
Is anyone else having the problem I am having?

I just did a software update that was apparently for iPhoto. When I try to open iPhoto it stops at "step 5" and will not go further. what do I do?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • HT4914 I often record songs at a particular tempo, iTunes Match will then match it and send it back to me at the original tempo, is there anyway I can stop some songs from being matched. At the moment I have turned match off. But I would like to sync play

I often record songs at a particular tempo, iTunes Match will then match it and send it back to me at the original tempo, is there anyway I can stop some songs from being matched. At the moment I have turned match off. But I would like to sync playlists.

How old was this backup? It sounds like it was at least several weeks old.
You can look directly in the TM backup for the music.
    1. Connect to the external HDD the backup is kept on.
    2. Open a Finder window and select the backup drive in the left hand panel. Double click into the folders until you see a list of folders with dates.
These are the incremental backups. You can start at the top or the bottom of the list but I suggest you double Latest/<HDD Name>/Users/<Account Name>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music. From this location you can start looking for the "missing" music. When/if you find it you can simply drag-n-drop to ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music on the internal HDD.
If the music is actually not in the backups (for whatever reason) then you've got a problem.
You can download the uploaded files from the cloud by deleting the affected tracks from the iTunes library (but not the cloud!), highlighting multiple tracks at once, right-clicking and choosing "download."

  • How do I get Sync to work with my new iPhone?  Sync stops at step 2 of 5 steps.

I have a new  iPhone and am trying to sync the music I downloaded from the cloud on my phone with iTunes on my PC. After clicking on sync on my computer the status bar stops on step 2 of 5 steps.  I have checked to make sure my computer is authorized in iTunes.

Based on what you've posted, your computer does not have the right tuner.   You need a QAM tuner to record locals from FiOS, or a CableCard tuner to record all local and cable channels from FiOS.
QAM tuners to record local channels only
This requires Windows Vista or Windows 7
    Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250
SiliconDust HDHomeRun (info on a sale)
CableCard tuner to record local and cable channels
This requires Windows 7 + one CableCard from Verizon for $3.99/mo
ATI TV Wonder Digital PC CableCard Tuner (records one channel at a time) -- $200-$250 on ebay
Ceton MOCUR tuner (records four channels at a time) -- coming in early 2010 for $400-$600
Make sure your computer has Windows 7 Home Premium (or better) installed.   That's necessary to support CableCard tuners.

  • Guys can you help me, i have problem regarding on syncing of my apps in my ipad it usually stops on step 4 saying determining apps to sync then its stop... can anyone have an idea..i already reset the setting of my ipad

ys can you help me, i have problem regarding on syncing of my apps in my ipad it usually stops on step 4 saying determining apps to sync then its stop... can anyone have an idea..i already reset the setting of my ipad

    Hello Violet03,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I would recommend a few things here. If you havent already restart both your computer, and the iPad.
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesnt work then close all the apps that are running on the iPad with this process:
From the Home screen, click the Home button twice.
Tap and hold on the app.
When it starts to jiggle, tap the to close it.
Double-click the Home button and try opening the app again.
From: iOS: Force an app to close
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
And if the issue persists it might be a good idea to backup and restore your iPad in iTunes with this article.

  • When I sync my iPhone it stops after step 4 of 5.

When I sync my iPhone it stops after step 4 of 5. iTunes aborts the sync process without any further error message. Anyone have a solution?

It does say in the iTunes status window.
If for music, try deselecting Sync Music under the Music tab followed by a sync. This will remove all music from your iPhone.
Follow this by reselecting Sync Music making your selections below followed by another sync.

  • Synching stops at step 4 of 5

I upgraded to i-Tunes 10.1.1.4 on my PC (running Windows XP). When synching my i-Phone 3Gs, it stopped at step 4 of 5 and i-Tunes stopped running according to the Windows task Manager. I finally disconnected the i-Phone and i-Tunes started running again, and showed an error box "i-Tunes could not copy "Surfin Bird" to the i-Phone because an unknown error occurred (-20)." I deleted the song and got the same error at another song. I repeated this with 4 different songs, some purchased from i_Tunes some loaded from my CDs. So I don't believe it's a corrupted song file. A search for "unknown error (-20)" on this site didn't turn up any previous references.
Everything except the music appears to have transferred to the i-Phone, but the i-Phone has zero music on it now.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

  • "itunes has stopped working" - when syncing 4s, itunes stops at step 6.

Since updating to 10.5.1.42 itunes stops at step 6 - determining tracks to sync - when syncing with my 4S. The iphone is running 5.0.1
I've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, but it still does it! Windows 7 gives me the 'itunes has stopped working and is searching for a solution' line.
Needless to say; it doesn't find one...

Here is what worked for me for both 10.5 and 10.5.1 after hoursof frustration with Itunes stopping and shutting down in the middle of a syncor tranferring Apps downloaded on my Ipad2 or Iphone 4:
Start iTunes in iTunes Safe Mode:
    1.  hold down the Shift and Control key together and clickto start iTunes.
    2.  when you see the iTunes icon in the task bar, click onit.
    3.  you will get a box that says "iTunes is running insafe mode.  Visual plug-ins you have installed have been termporarilydisabled."   [I don't know what plug-ins I installed but youshould clearly see that these so-called visual plug-ins are likely the cause ofyour issues];
    4. click Continue to open iTunes.
You could already have your device connected to your computer ordo it after opening iTunes in its safe mode.
Now press your sync button and everything should work fine.
I also disabled Genius in iTunes preferences but I'm not sure ifthis is one of the issues causing these types of problems.
I hope this works.  This may be the workaround for all ofus Windows 7 64-bit folks.

Very many thanks for the extremely helpful advice -
I've now done that - but unfortunately it's now coming up with a 'new' error - "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone" ?
Yet when I try to repeat the iTunes\Preferences\Devices routine to delete the backup - there are now no device backups showing in the window to re-delete ??
I'm on an HP desktop running MS Windows XP Pro SP3 & MS Outlook 2007 - grateful for the benefit of your further advices/expertise -

  • My sync stops on step 2

My IPhone sync stops on step 2.  After the sync wheel spins forvever, my phone restarts itself.  This process repeats.
    Help!

Then you may want to just uninstall iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925, then reinstall iTunes.  You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful.  Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.
