HT204409 able to connect to wi-fi on my iPad but not my iPhone even though I can see the network
Udated my iphone and I am unable to connect to wi-fi even though it shows up in my setting. My ipad is abel to connect. I reset the modem and then the router still nothing. It just says unable to connect. Searched the internet and found this to be a common problem. I have a router that is an 802.11n network but like I said my ipad has no problems. Any sollution out there other than restting my router?

I have Comcast Internet and have it connected to a Motorla Surfboard modem and have that running directly to a 2TB Time Capsule. The TC is serving as our time machine as well as our wireless router. We lost power in a storm a week ago and can no longer connect to my wireless network I can see the network and sign into it via password, but cannot connect with any device(iMac, MacBook, iPhones, iPod touches, air tv, etc.). ALL of these devices worked gat before the power went out. I reset both modem and TC and still can't connect. I can connect to the Internet through Ethernet cord directly from the modems dn have confirmation(per Comcast service) that the Internet is working and we have a good connection.
The TC is less than six months old so I'm not sure what is wrong. I have reset settings with TC to no avail. I have reset the TC SEVERAL times and have no idea what could be wrong and what is prohibiting me from connecting. Anyone that has ANY suggestions or ideas as to how to fix this, PLEASE HELP!!! I'm going crazy using iPad 3G and not being able to connect to our wifi. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND I LOOK FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO THE 21ST CENTURY!Anyone have any ideas or information to help with this? Any help and consideration is MUCH appreciated.

I dopped my iphone on the floor today and nothing cracked but when i tried to turn it on, the screen had a bunch of barcode like stripes. even though i cant see the screen, i was still able to type in my password and answer a phone call. how can i fix it?
YOU can't fix it. But you can bring it in to Apple for an out of warranty replacement for $199.

The power went out and when it returned the network name and password was lost. I can see the network in my connections and connect to it. How do I get it back to the orginal name and password? I have an HP laptop.
Chances are, there was a signficant power surge or voltage fluctuation just before the power went out. This type of thing can cause the AirPort Extreme to reset back to default settings.
If this occurs, your only option is re-configure the device again, just as you did originally.
In order to improve your chances this next time this happens, (especially if you live in an area where thunderstorms are severe), a good quality surge suppressor / voltage limiting power strip will really help, and may save you the entire device or a nearby computer next time something like this occurs. -
My apple extreme wireless network is working fine with two Macs but ios devices (iPhone & iPad) will not connect. I can see the network and it's telling me I'm connected but Safari says I'm not connected to the internet. Everything was working until the ISP went down. Any suggestions?
Thank you, I've tried the support tips (resetting the network, checking security settings, etc.) and rebooting the network devices several times to no avail. I've actually been working on this for several days (when I can afford to have the network down).
What I have to determine is what has changed in the setup...from when it WAS working just fine with all devices. -
My mac can see the network but won't connect to the server
I have an intel Imac. The network connect is working but very squirrelly. I see most objects on the network. I can see the server but it will not let me connect.
I go to another mac and I can connect to the server. So I think its my mac 10.7.5 is the OSProbably nothign to do with your iMac or OS X, have you attempted resetting your router? Also you haven't stated what messages you are getting or any other information. If this is at your work then I'd suggest contacting your IT support person, the connection to your network may be on their end.

Macbook Pro won't auto connect to wifi, but when I start diagnostics, then it will connect. It seems it requires diagnostics in order to get connected to wifi.

I've been suffering from this problem for a few months. I tried everything suggested by everyone, and then, today, I had a mad idea.
I used to work in a room in the house that's about 12 metres away from the router. It's on the next storey up and horizontally about 8 metres away. The problem started when I began to work in the same room as the router.
Today I became so frustrated that for some reason I walked into a room about 8 metres away on the same level - Guess what? I connected with no problem at all. Feeling full of joy I walked back to the room where the router is located - Dropped internet connection within a few minutes! Walked back to the the room that's 8 metres away and, hey presto! I have a connection. I now realise that the problem was that I moved too close to the router.
I can think of no logical explanation for my experience, but empirically it seems to work. Does anyone have the faintest idea of why this should be the case? In the absence of an answer I think I may have to start believing in fairies at the bottom of the garden - I'm just off to set a meal for them.
By the way, I don't know if it has any significance, but the router is a BT Infinity router that has replaced the incredibly unreliable Virgin Media cable connection -

Hi, I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro but cant get the mirroring function to work with Apple TV. I've got the most recent Software 10.7.5 but cant see the mirroring icon or turn this on. I'm able to mirror from my Ipad but not my Mac, any thoughts?

AirPlay Mirroring is supported on your Mac, but it needs OS X Mountain Lion (10.8). See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
You have two possibilities:
1. Make a backup, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion to upgrade to this OS X. Then, you will find the AirPlay Mirroring icon at the top right of the display, on the menu bar, or on System Preferences > Displays.
2. Keep OS X Lion and use AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com
Both options work properly, but I recommend AirPlay Mirroring as it doesn't need a third-party program -

if home network ensure your router has latest firmware and try rebooting it -
Wireless devices can see wireless network but not connect
Can anyone please assist? I have a WRT54GS v2. My wired computer accesses the Net fine and I can see MAC address, IP Address, DNS, subnet mask, default gateway in the linksys browser software. The devices can see the network with strong bars but cannot connect.

Go to Solution.It is possible that the router could have encountered some wireless interference, doughboy17. You may try adjusting the wireless channels of the router. Use channels 6, 3, 1 and 11. Have you tried checking if you still have the correct Wi-Fi password?
If you have the correct network settings, try requesting for the firmware file and perform an update. That might help in resolving this matter. Or, you may proceed on doing a factory reset and configure the router again.

I am able to connect to my Mac Mini on Back to My Mac through iCloud but the keyboard/trackpad on the MBAir or MBP with which I access does not register on the Mini. So I can see the screen but cannot interact with it. Mini works accessing MBP/Air and I can use Mini to input data or interact with screens of those computers.
Regarding your first question about bookmarks, I think you discovered the answer in when you pressed the address bar. The second tab there has your bookmarks.
As for the keyboard, I'm not sure why your Firefox is reacting so slowly; mine seems to show keyboards even when I don't want them. If you have accumulated a lot of history, perhaps that's an issue?
Did you use any third party software to move your Firefox data from internal memory to the storage card? -
Hi Guys does anyone know of a way i can get cyclops speed camera alert to work through bluetooth incar hands free kit , i used to be able to connect it via an app called drivesafely but this app is no longer available in apple store ????????????
I think the easiest way to do this is to have the EyeTV app running in one user account and sent via HDMI to the TV, and use a separate user account for Screen Sharing. Both logins can be active at the same time and with Lion you can connect via screen sharing to which ever login you need.
With regards to the Mac video resolution changing, when it is not the current input on your AV receiver. This is 'normal', if the Mac sees no signal it drops down the a lower level. What you need is to buy a HDMI Detective Plus which tricks the Mac in to always seeing a signal and hence it will not drop down the resolution. See http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8005
The Mac mini does have an IR receiver. This can be used with the EyeTV app, iTunes, and similar. Yes I believe EyeTV would run for prolonged periods quite happily, it is has been around for a long time and had most of the rough edges polished off. However one issue you will have to deal with is that it does not automatically update its program guide data. For this you might have to write or modify an AppleScript. Elgato support or their user forums will be a lot of help.
You can set EyeTV to convert recordings to an iTunes (Apple TV) compatible format and then delete them from EyeTV.
The HDMI Detective should solve your handshaking problems. -
I am not able to restore neither from iTunes nor from iCloud. The proble with iTunes is it says that the backup is corrupted or incompatible. And I am not able to connect to iCloud for restoring. I have IOS 7.0.4 when I have taken the backup.
iCloud does not connect and it says Request Timed out.
Not Sure how to restore my iPad.
